Since you are reading this, you must have finished Conquer, either having a good opinion or bad one, or simply feeling awful about the harsh ending.
As I said before, Conquer doesn’t really end well, I did now want this fact to be hidden.
Yet I know so many of you are shocked to finally read the “last words” of the final chapter.
Welp, this fic has really been a ride, especially as a debut.
The “kinky” idea and the premise of screwing with someone you caught during an invasion, all mixed with the so familiar Yandere vibes, was something that I held on to dearly.
However Conquer is certainly not something Im proud of in terms of writing and plot , it is something that I’m happy that it got so well received and I had the chance to interact with a lot of people.
I wanted to make these “final” author notes for Conquer as a way to also rewind from the very first chapter to the last one, and I will touch many things that had been left out.
Conquer had been very low paced in the beginning, but I fastened its pace, since I didn’t want the story to needlessly elongate.
But that also means that I will 100% return to Conquer later on, in a form of either a “prologue/spin off” but I wouldn’t to an epilogue, since honestly, there is not much I would write about, what happens is pretty obvious and even if its not, its up to the reader to guess after all.
It starts off with a dance party, a “diplomatic” celebration between the Harbingers and Mondstadt.
Expect Lumines and Childes first, disastrous meeting, we also hear that apparently Venti is in a lot of trouble with the Harbingers, and Scaramouche is especially pissed.
The more we go into the chapters, the messier the issue becomes but in the end, when every information is picked up about the contracts written for the registered and unregistered outlanders, one thing is very obvious: This thing had been an entire lie. The contract which enforced the pervious laws including the outlanders, wasn’t signed by Mondstatd, and therefore, they had absolutely no problem.
Then why didn’t Mondstadt do anything? The problem was, this relatively small nation was facing two very influential “bodies” : both Inazuma and the Harbinger alliance.
It was obvious that they’re pressured into obedience, played around until they finally “devoured” he small nation.
Now, if you are asking for what happened to Mondstadt, its a land annexed by the Harbinger alliance, however Inazuma has both military and economical access to it plus, half of the profit by annexing Mondstadt, not to mention the Dawn Winery, is under their control now.
I think that most of the characters were there for a reason. Even Arnold, seemingly unimportant, symbolized that “carefree” life Mona had experienced in Mondstadt, that feeling of deciding your own feelings, now everything being like a distant dream because she is living under a new reality and under her own God.
Speaking of which, it was clearly given that Scaramona was the main OTP throughout the fic, and Chili came by as second. Although I don’t believe I will write about Chilumi anytime soon, considering the crumbs given here, I have a lot of love and respect for the ship, as it was my first in Genshin before Scaramona became my OTP.
And about those “letters” Teppei took along with Mona, those were fake, made by Scaramouche to defame and put Mondtsatd further “at fault”. But it didnt matter in the long run, as it had been too late to give out those letters.
And for the gnosis? The other Harbingers simply took it and gave it to the Tsaritsa.
I think that the main stuff about the plot have been cleared up here, but if you have anything to ask about or point out, do not hesitate even a second to comment.
In the future, I will make scrmn one shots (I already have a WIP ^^) plus multi chapters (not as long as Conquer)
