Yuna was startled from her quiet contemplation on the back porch when the front door slammed shut. She stepped inside and was surprised to see David, who was the epitome of Mister calm and collected, standing in the foyer looking flustered and confused.
“Is everything alright, honey?”
David opened and closed his mouth several times but no words came out. He eventually held out his hand, “I got the phone cord.”
“Okay…” Slight hyperventilation aside, David seemed fine, at least physically. “Did something happen while you were out?”
“The store in town didn’t have my phone cord,” David scrubbed his face nervously, “So I thought I’d just pick up the old one I had left at Shane’s…”
Oh shit, her mind immediately supplied, Lily must be there.
“Did you –” Her phone buzzed before she could get the sentence out. Opting to differ her question till later as she had a suspicion what the notification might have been from, she quickly swiped the message app open:
