Chapter Text

And there she sat, trying not to panic, with a bag over her head and her hands tightly tied to what felt like a tall, wooden pole. The reason she woke up was the loud steampunk music coming from a gramophone near her. The music was accompanied by a high pitched, raspy feminine hum, which, of course, couldn’t be anyone’s other than Jinx’s.

It didn’t sound like Jinx had noticed her awakening, too focused on her crazed projects and rustling with the most random items to create an even more random object, which, most of the time, was for Silco and his weird taste in weapons.

Caitlyn tried to struggle against the tight ropes tied around her hands, her whole body trembling with both fear and adrenaline. That was, until she heard Jinx spin around on her chair.

“Thank goodness you’re finally up, I was wondering whether I knocked you out or killed you.” Jinx announced, calmly walking to turn the music off.
Then, Caitlyn heard the steps getting closer and closer, until they stopped right in front of her. Through the fabric of the bag, Caitlyn could now see Jinx's silhouette. She wasn’t tall, or muscular, she was quite skinny, in fact. Her silhouette looked like a normal teenager’s, nothing intimidating or fearful. That was, until Jinx grabbed the bag on Caitlyn’s head and pulled it off with a sharp tug. Now we’re talking fearful. Pink, flashing orbs, clearly powered by shimmer and trauma, a small grin on her face that Caitlyn just knew she was thinking about all of the worst ways to make her suffer.

“Don’t get too comfortable with the fact I didn’t put a bullet through you yet, piltie.” Jinx said, muttering the last word with disgust. “You probably already know how hostages work. I’m not kidnapping you for money, though.” Jinx stopped, leaning down to grab Caitlyn’s chin between her fingers and turning the taller girl’s head towards a small picture frame hung over her desk with a picture of Vi.
“You’re here because I want my sister back.” Jinx muttered with sadness, nostalgia, and a small amount of hope.
Jinx then let go of her chin, sighing as she stood back up.
“Until then, be a good little hostage for me, cop.”

She walked back to her scribbled, messy desk, turning the music back on.

Caitlyn squirmed against the ropes, looking up at Jinx with anger and alarm.
“What… what are you going to do..?” she asked in that fancy piltie accent of hers, trying to remain calm, even as she was quietly freaking out.

Jinx cackled, walking to sit back at her project desk.
“Hah, I wouldn’t even know where to start explaining.” Jinx laughed maniacally, grinning widely.

“You do know I’m a Kiramman right? My mother is probably already sending enforcers after you.” Caitlyn said, her anger making her raise her voice.

“Oh yeah, because during all this time your dumb enforcers have done a great job finding me and Silco. Wake up, dud. This is crack in the earth, no one’s finding you here.” Jinx retorted ironically, scoffing slightly as she looked over a design of the newest weapon she was going to build for Silco.
