Chapter Text

Dean's Point of View:

12:00 pm

"Fuck!"

"What's wrong, Dean?"

"I kind of told Cas I loved him." She squeaks. "I said it walking out the door this morning."

"Oh." She slaps me. "Dean! First, I'm so happy for you. You deserve it. Second, how did that happen?"

"I was so happy and waking up with him was perfect. Last night was perfect. I was rushing. I didn't want to be late, but my sleep-deprived brain didn't sink up with my heart or something. Damn it. It sounds cheesy like that. Fuck, he didn't chase me out or text me. What if he doesn't or maybe he didn't hear me?"

I'm an idiot. Why couldn't I have said it last night? It would have been better. I called it making love, so he probably already knows. I didn't want to call it anything else.

I start breathing heavy again. I know I took my meds last night. Get your shit together.

"Okay, calm down. Cas loves you. He knows you wanted to be on time to help me. Not hearing you is possible. Cas isn't someone who says 'I love you' over text. When do you see him next?"

"Tomorrow night. We are making our plans for heat/rut, and you're probably right."

"I am. I'm so happy for you, Dean. You mating?"

"No. It's too soon for that."

"Yeah. I get it. It's not like with other people though. You've been friends with Cas for a year. You love each other."

I know who she means, but we still don't mention he who shall not be named.

I know Cas is the one for me, but it's way too soon.

"I'll keep you updated for when we decide okay?"

"Okay. I'll zip it. It's your first cycle together. I'm so happy. Not just because I don't have to take care of you."

"Cas and I will get the stuff we need."

"Oh, what if you both trigger each other's heats sooner?"

"I think that's a thing in fanfiction or in porn."

"It happens in real life."

"Sure. If it does, I'll ask you for supplies."

She squeals loudly.

"Enough talk about this. Lunch break is almost over. I don't need students or worse Gabe overhearing."

She makes the clicking sound twice.

"Damn it, Charles."

She packs up her work and goes to her room. I wonder if it is a thing. Maybe, I'll pack some stuff just in case. I can have heats early for other reasons too.

Wednesday:

6:30 pm

"Sorry, I'm late, Angel. I picked up some stuff in preparation for this weekend."

"It's alright, I already stocked up."

"I'm not surprised."

"I love you, Dean."

Shit.

"I love you too, Cas. Fucking hate that I said it to you like that."

"I didn't mind."

He starts to scent me.

"Dean, you smell so good."

I'm slick. Oh fuck. Charlie was right.

"So good."

I feel him up against me.

"Hey, hey, Cas. Hold on. Should we eat something?"

"Oh, Dean. I'm sorry. I don't know what's happening."

"Charlie told me true mate can make cycles be early."

"I suppose it is good we prepared. We should eat something and separate some before I get lost in you again."

"Yeah."

He looks dazed still and Goddamnit it's fucking hot.

Sunday:

10:00 am

I wake up feeling good despite my Alpha being missing.

I hear a crash in the kitchen.

"Cas!"

"It's okay, I'm okay."

He rounds the corner with a tray of pancakes, bacon, and orange juice.

"I hope the bacon is good. How are you feeling?"

"Happy."

"Good."

"You're sweet. How are you feeling?"

"Happy."

"The breakfast is awesome, Angel, even the bacon."

"Thanks, Honey."

I wish we had mated. I know I wanted to wait, but I can't wait for this man to be my partner. I can imagine our life together. In two years we could be living together, mated, maybe married. Five years after a couple of kids. Cas will be a good Dad. I feel it in my bones. We went through a lot to get here, but I love being here.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Us. Our future."

"Yeah. You want to share?"

I tell him. It's not like before. We talk about it not to rush in, but our hopes and dreams.

"I don't want to name our kids after angels."

"Why not?"

"You're kidding?"

"I'm not."

"You really want your kid to go through what you did? Also, I'm carrying. I should have final say."

"You're right."

"Good. I suppose we could do middle names in honor of family."

"I don't know. I don't want Jimmy getting a big head."

"Any other ideas? I know. How about Jack?"

"Jack's good."

We go back and forth for this. Cas truly has terrible ideas, but he says I do too. In the end, we only agree on Jack for a boy or a girl. I'm sure we will figure out the second kid's name when we get there.

"Awesome, I love you, Cas."

"I love you too, Dean."

----

Dean's Point of View:

7 years later:

"Dean! Please rest. You should not be running."

"I'm barely running."

"Papa, why can't he play?"

"He has to look out for your baby sister."

"Okay, you need to rest Dad. Keep Emma safe. You play with me, Papa?"

"Yes, Jack. I will play with you."

He's a mini-Cas. Cas's bees are far back, but Jack loves bees. He smells like honey. Cas says he gets his care for others from me. When he found out he was getting a baby sister, he asked what he could do to help. Not even four and he does whatever he can to help, so I'm not surprised by his reaction.

My mate is an amazing father, as well as an amazing partner. Cas is forty now, but still runs every day. He loves it, but I know he also does it to keep up with Jack. He has insane amounts of energy.

The start of us was challenging, but together we could handle anything. The big things in our lives keep making our relationship better when we were mated, had Jack, and now being pregnant with Emma. I love my mate and I'm all about us.

Thanks for reading!

It took me a while to write, edit, and post the sequel.

The therapy conversations are similar to what I had with my therapist.
