Chapter Text

Marinette’s black heels clack against the tile floor of Agreste Mansion. She wishes she brought a jacket, forgetting how cold Adrien’s house is. She meets Adrien by the front door, waiting for his cousin, Félix, to walk through it. She smoothes down her light pink silk dress with her newly manicured hands.

Adrien wraps his arm around her waist as they wait by the door, leaving Marinette eye to eye with Gabriel Agreste. She awkwardly smiles at him to no avail and she tries not to die that very moment.

The door begins to open and it’s as if her posture somehow straightens more than it already was.

“Adrien!”

“Félix!”

The two boys hug tightly and Félix feels a level of elation he hasn’t felt in a long time.

Marinette smiles politely at the two as they break apart. Félix sees her out of the corner of his eye and startles, not expecting to see a girl.

“Adrien, you never told me you got a girlfriend! And a beautiful one at that,” Félix says, winking at Marinette

She blushes slightly and giggles, which causes annoyance to flash across Adrien’s face. He quickly composes himself, however, and smiles at Félix.

“Félix, this is my girlfriend, Marinette.”

Félix takes Marinette’s hand lightly in his and kisses it gently.

Marinette giggles, “You’re too charming!”

“I get that a lot,” he says, smiling widely at Marinette.

“Well, shall we?” Adrien says, more so directed at Félix than Marinette.

“Lead the way, cousin.”

Félix and Adrien are catching up while having a shooting contest in Adrien’s room while Marinette sits on his couch and watches.

“You missed again,” Adrien says, laughing.

“Whoops, I must be distracted,” Félix responds, laughing with Adrien.

And he was distracted. Félix could not get his eyes off of Marinette since he first saw her in the foyer. He couldn’t tell if it was the way her silky blue hair rolls off her shoulders or the way her bluebell eyes shine in the light. But one thing he is sure of is that her smile is the most gorgeous smile he’s ever seen, a shame he hasn’t seen it since they’ve gotten to Adrien’s room.

“Hey, why not let Marinette join in?” Félix looks over at her and notices her perk up ever so slightly.

“It’s a two player game,” Adrien responds, looking over at Marinette as she slowly droops back down.

“She can have my spot.”

“Nonsense, you just moved to Paris,” Adrien says through gritted teeth.

“No, really, I insist.”

Adrien sighs, “Fine.”

Félix sits down beside Marinette before she stands and Adrien aggressively tosses her the ball. She fumbles with it for a second before dropping it on her foot with a loud bounce.

“Damnit,” she says with a wince.

“Adrien, what the fuck? That’s your girlfriend for Christ’s sake,” Félix scowls at Adrien.

“C’mon, Félix, don’t be overdramatic,” Adrien says, rolling his eyes.

“No, Adrien, she’s your girlfriend! You should treat her with respect!”

“Félix, please it’s not that big of a deal-”

“Quiet, Marinette!” Adrien snaps at her, shooting a glare in her direction.

“See, this is what I mean! You’re snapping at her for no fucking reason but to snap at her!”

Marinette’s face goes bright pink. She’s never seen someone stick up for her like this before. Adrien notices and gives her a look, and she immediately is attempting to hide her bright pink face.

“Fine! You want to treat her with respect so badly, you can play with her instead of me.”

He scoops the ball up from the floor and throws it directly at Félix’s face. Félix grabs it one-handed inches away from his nose.

“Maybe I will.”

He lightly tosses the ball to Marinette, who is able to actually catch it this time, and stands up, shoving Adrien to the side.

“I better head home, my parents are expecting me for lunch,” Marinette says, smiling awkwardly. She grabs her purse from the couch and turns to address Félix. “It was a pleasure to meet you.”

“The pleasure was all mine.”

She then turns to adrien and kisses him on the cheek before heading out.

Adrien grabs her by the arm and twirls her onto his chest.

“Adrien, I love you, but not right now please,” she says looking at him with gentle eyes.

“Whatever,” he scoffs lightly.Marinette heads out the door briskly while Félix can’t help but stare at her one last time. She’s so gorgeous.
