Chapter Text
Kidd was leaning back his chair, one leg bopping up and down while on top of the other, his right hand soothing his chin. His face was scrunched up, his thoughts filled with that previous girl, he was irked. He also didn't appreciate his sleep being interrupted.
"Kidd." A voice after the creaking of the door interrupted his thoughts. He lifted his gaze up and turned to the source of the noise.
"We can't find the intruder." Killer informed, standing by the entrance, his hand resting on the doorknob he pushed open earlier.
"And why the hell not?" Kidd furrowed his brows at the blonde man.
"Kidd..We searched every nook and cranny. There isn't even a trace of anyone being in the ship."
"Are you saying I was hallucinating then?!" Kidd slammed his metal fist on the table.
"No. We'll keep an eye out for anyone." Killer began to pull the doorknob, stopping for a moment. "You should sleep, it's still midnight." He said before fully closing the door.
Kidd watched Killer leave, letting out a frustrated sigh after. He brought his hand to his forehead, his jaw clenched tightly, his mind went back to the girl.
'How did my attacks pass through anyways?' Kidd recalled the moments his attacks passed through the girl. He racked his brain to find an explanation, but it was to no avail.
"..." Kidd pulled his hand away, and straightened his posture. "Killer's right, I should sleep."
He was just about to stand up until—
"Sleeping again?"
Kidd's eyes widened, the girl he was just thinking about was now right in front of his eyes. She was at his eye level, her cheeks resting on the palm of her hands, she was laying down mid air.
"You again!" Kidd reached out his hand, trying to grab her by the neck. And, like before, it didn't work.
"Can you stop trying to attack me??" The girl glided smoothly away from him, her tone slightly offended.
Kidd shot up from his feet, his eyes locked onto the girl as he took a fighting stance. "I will after I actually attack you."
"Now stop flying around!" Kidd charged towards where she was floating, his arms open and ready.
"Stop it! I'm not a threat okay!" She flew away from him, avoiding his grab. She threw her arms up, attempting to soothe his nonsensical anger.
"Why are you on my ship then?!" He turned to the direction of the girl.
"I just randomly discovered this ship!"
"You think I'm gonna believe that?!" Kidd dashed in front of the floating girl, trying to take hold of her again.
This time she didn't evade, she didn't need to, Kidd's arm only passed through her body. "It's not gonna work, you know? Stop trying."
"Damnit! Stop playing with me and fight, you coward!" Kidd jabbed several punches at her, his fist repeatedly passing through her body.
"I don't want to fight. Stop." The girl was beginning to look displeased. "I can't feel it but I really don't want your hands passing through me."
"Shut up and fight me!" Kidd kept going with his barrage of attacks, striking endlessly with full power at the girl, sweat forming on his forehead.
A few minutes had passed, Kidd was clutching his knees, his back bent forward, huffing heavily with sweat beads dropping down his face.
"H-how.." He squeezed out.
"Are you done now?" The girl looked down on him, her arms crossed as she floated just inches above the ground, completely unscathed.
"You...I know it now..!" Kidd lifted his head up, his eyes meeting the girl's.
"Hm?" She raised an eyebrow up. "You've only figured it out now?"
"Haa..Yeah. I wasn't sure before but now I am..."
"Pretty dumb of you but yeah I'm a—"
"Ghost!"
"..."
"That's why my attacks weren't working!"
"....."
"You damn ghost! Did I kill you before or something? And now you're coming back to haunt me?"
"........."
"Answer me!"
".....Is he dumb?" She muttered, her face crumpled with genuine concern.
"Hey! Cat got your tongue?!"
"...You know what? You're right."
"Hah! I knew it. How pathetic. Bold of you to come back, I can just kill you again." His lips curled up into a smug smile, he regained his composure, standing up in front of the girl.
The girl wore a blank expression, utterly baffled and done by his bullshit. 'Did me being a devil fruit user not even cross his mind? Surely that would be the first thing someone thinks of in this case right? Does being strong come with a cost of stupidity? Why did I stay here again?'
Slowly she drifted away from him, her expression unchanging. She drifted farther and farther away.
"Huh? Hey, wait! Where the hell are you going?" Kidd shouted at the ghost girl. "I said, hey! I'm not done talking!"
"....." She remained silent, continuing to back off, nearing a wall. She didn't stop despite Kidd yelling at her not to, she decided she needed a break. She floated away, her body now passing through a wall, and steadily disappeared.
There left Kidd, standing by himself, wondering what just happened.
"..That..That was real right?" Kidd asked himself. "Right?? Or was I...hallucinating???"
"Ughh! I don't know!—" Kidd let out a long groan, lifting his arms up to his head, roughly ruffling his hair, he didn't know what to believe anymore.
