Chapter Text

After the events in Jack’s dorm room, Davey sat on the couch with him. Although Jack needed time to rest, Davey was itching to do something. Order food, clean the dorm, something.
“Hey, Jackie?” He murmured, nudging Jack’s neck with his nose. “How are you feeling?” Jack sighed in response.
“Better, but not great. Can you… Can you just talk to me?” He asked. “I wanna hear your voice.” Davey smiled and nodded.
“Sure,” He said. “I’ll tell you about the first time I slept with a guy.” As soon the words ‘slept with’ came out of Davey’s mouth, Jack looked up at him with wide eyes.
“That didn’t- um-” Davey took a breath. “I didn’t mean it like that. Just let me tell the story.” Jack nodded at him to go on.
“I was in eighth grade, and we were on a class camping trip. It was small; there were only twenty of us. All of us were in pairs for tents, and I was paired with this guy named Anton. He was really sweet, and I think he was born in France. Anyway, we were casual friends, we hung out at his apartment sometimes. But there was one problem: he was super cute.” David paused and took a breath as he remembered Anton. Damn.
“So Anton and I were tent partners,” He continued. “And the first night came along. We went into the tent, and he had forgotten his air mattress.” Jack gasped softly.
“And I only had a twin-sized mattress,” Davey said over Jack’s laughter. “So Anton turns and says to me, ‘I guess we’re sharing a bed for the weekend.’ And I tried to play it cool. I just said, ‘Yea, okay. Sorry if I, like, kick you or something.’ So I slept with Anton for the weekend. And it was the most awkward experience ever. We just faced away from each other, but at one point, when he thought I was asleep, he moved his pillow between us and made a wall. It was the dumbest thing ever.”
“Don’t you mean a gay wall?” Jack asked with a soft smirk. Yes. He’s coming back.
Davey sighed. “Yes, Jackson. A gay wall.” Jack raised his eyebrows at the name.
“That’s not my full name,” He said. Davey peered at Jack’s face on his shoulder.
“I know.”

Race came back the next morning with Spot.
“Jack?” Race yelled as he came through the door. “Davey? I heard what happened yesterday, and we wanted to- oh.” He stopped talking when he noticed Jack and Davey passed out on the couch, one on top of the other. Spot grinned and dug his phone out of his pocket to get a picture.
“Blackmail, babe.” Race shook his head at his fiancé. “What?! Trust me, it’ll be useful in the future.”
“Spot,” Race whispered. “We all know that you really just have a soft spot for your bandmate and want as many cute memories of him as possible before his heart is stolen from you.”
“Racetrack. I am literally marrying you in two months.”
“I know.”

Jack woke up to his arms legs wrapped around Davey like an octopus. He jumped and promptly fell off the couch, unfortunately taking the pianist with him. Davey squawked as they both hit the ground, with Jack on top of Davey.

“Wow, this looks like it came out of a stupid Rom-Com, don’t it.” Jack said giggling.

They didn’t move for a few seconds, just kind of sitting there, secretly enjoying the moment. Much to Davey’s dismay Jack stood up and got back on the couch and Davey was back to being bored.

“Hey Jackie, what is this?” Davey said out of the blue, pointing to the two of them. Jack had never really thought about it. They were them right, no need for labels, right?
“Well I mean, we’re us, right? No need to change that. I like things the way they are now, I don’t want to ruin that. Is that ok?” He said, confused.
“Yeah, totally. No need for labels,” he said with a certain tone in his voice Jack didn’t recognize.
“Are you okay?”
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be.” Davey said, happier than usual.
“Ok…” Jack doubted those words but decided not to press further. They pointed their attention back to whatever was on T.V. at the moment.
