Chapter Text
After the plea to Tsukauchi to save him Izuku immediately shrunk back into his shell.
‘Oh gods, what have I done?’
After ten minutes of questioning and Izuku failing to get a single word out of his mouth the detective sighed in near defeat.
“Come on, you asked for help so let us help you” Tsukachi pleaded to him, “please” he added after his silence but still he did not speak.
“Can we at least know your name?” Aizawa asked grumpy as he glared at Izuku in a I’m about done with this bullshit look.
Izuku thought about it for a bit, looked away from them bit his lip then looked to them again.
“Izuku” Izuku finally spoke, his eyes trained to the ground. “Midoriya Izuku”.
“Thank you, Izuku” Tsukachi said as he wrote something down on his notepad.
“Now then Izuku, would you mind coming with us to the station to sort some things out?”
Izuku’s heart stopped at that, of course he had to go to the station… but still. He looked back at Akio nervously, ‘I can’t just leave him alone’.
“Don’t worry, if he wakes up while you are gone you will have permission to go visit him” Tsukauchi said and when Izuku turned around he saw a warm smile on his face.
It reminded him of the warm smile his mom used to give him.
“Okay”
People were staring and whispering about when they went down to the hospital entrance, Izuku hoped they couldn’t have been talking about him that much but he couldn’t help but feel all those eyes on him as hushed whispers enveloped them through the hospital halls. He breathed a sigh of relief when they got out of the hospital into the fresh evening breeze outside, still Izuku felt a strange sense of unease as he saw the car drive up to them. The last time Izuku remembered that he had stepped into a car was when he was taken to see sensei and he couldn’t help but let out the shivers starting to course through his body.
“Are you okay kid?” The homeless looking man asked looking slightly concerned.
“Yes” Izuku whispered bearly heard by the two men, “I’m okay...”
The two men looked at each other with slightly worried faces but they did not comment anything. the car ride to the station was silent the whole ride.
“Leave the rest to me Aizawa-san” Tsukauchi said when they got to the police station.
“Alright” Aizawa nodded his scruffy head then in a blink of an eye disappeared.
“Lets go inside shall we?” Tsukauchi said with a smile.
The Police station was mostly barren, well of course there were cops around doing their papers but it was mostly quiet, it gave Izuku a slight sense of comfort.
He was lead to a room with a table in the middle of the floor which had two opposing chairs. Izuku sat down in one of them and waited for Tsukauchi to say something.
“Do you want anything to drink?” He asked, Izuku shook his head. “What about anything to eat? It won’t be any trouble, I have to leave the room anyways to grab a few things”
“No thanks” Izuku answered.
“Alright then, I’m going to get some files. I’ll try to be quick about it” Tsukauchi said as he opened the door. “Okay?” he asked looking at Izuku.
“Allright”
Izuku felt like it was forever until Tsukauchi came back, he had explored the entire room and even tried opening the door, to his surprise it was unlocked. He peeked his head out a little and saw the barren corridor before him before closing the door again and waited in his seat.
Izuku was close to going out the door and finding Tsukauchi when the man suddenly appeared with a paper bag and what looked like pajamas?
“Now then, I’ve arranged for you to stay in one of our protective custody rooms today” Tsukauchi said wasting no time and handed Izuku the things he was previously holding.
“I had to take a guess on your size but I hope those fit” Tsukauchi said.
Looking over them they seemed his size, but he’ll never know until he tries them on.
“Now then shall we go?”
“Okay”
The room was surprisingly spacy, there was a desk, drawer and a bed with some room to spare. He laid the things on the desk and finally checked the contents of the paper bags, it was Manjū . Izuku glanced a meaningful glance at the detective which apparently flustered him a bit, “ I know you said you didn't want anything but you may be hungry later” Tsukauchi explained.
“Oh, okay” Izuku said simply.
“I’ll leave you to rest now, just to let you know I’ll have to lock the door for the night so if you need to go to the bathroom I can show you where it is now” Tsukauchi said watching Izuku for his reaction.
“I’m fine” Izuku replied calmly.
The detective seemed slightly deterred by his calmness about being locked up for the night but he let it slide for now, “Alright then, good night” Tsukauchi bid him and then locked the door.
'When was the last time an adult said that to me so gently?'
Izuku wondered what time it was when he woke up, he could see a sliver of sunlight through the tiny window at the top of one of the walls.
Izuku stretched the sleep out of him and then jumped out of bed, out of the corner of his eye he saw the Manjū and his stomach started growling, so he took it, plopped himself onto the bed and ate it.
Just as he finished it there came a knock on the door and then it opened to reveal the homeless hobo.
“What do you want?” Izuku asked surprised to see him.
“I want to help you” Aizawa said simply.
“Do you really?” Izuku asked skeptical.
Aizawa looked taken aback at that, “I’m serious” He said in a serious voice.
“Who are you even? A glorified hobo???” Izuku asked harsly in a annoyed tone.
“My name is Aizawa Shouta, also known as the underground hero: Eraserhead” Aizawa answered with a deadpan face blatantly avoiding the obvious insult.
“A hero?” Izuku asked then proceeded to burst into laughter causing the hero to be taken aback by the sudden change of his behaviour.
After all this time, after all that happened to him when Izuku had finally stopped wishing a hero would come and save him a hero came into his life.
“This is a twisted fate indeed” Izuku muttered into his hand.
“So what are you doing here exactly?” He asked.
“I came to inform you of your fate” Aizawa informed him.
“Wouldn’t Tsukauchi be to one do that?” Izuku asked curious.
“Well, yes but we both found it more fitting that I should tell you the news” Aizawa said as he sighed and took a seat down, “We had a emergency summon of a judge and we all have acknowledged that you are a unfortunate and frankly a quite bizarre case. So they are willing to give you a pardon of any crime that you may or may have not committed, you’ll start from this day onward with a clean slate” He explained.
Izuku was about to say something but Aizawa wasn’t done.
“But, you are to be on probation for the next three years and attend the school that your guardian chooses.”
“There is no way I’m-” Izuku interrupted but was shut off with Aizawa's glare effectively shutting him up.
“The final documents have been sealed and Matsuo Akatane is no longer your adopted father, I am.”
Now Izuku’s jaw dropped to the floor and he was speechless.
“And the school you will attend is U.A” Aizawa said.
Izuku had always dreamed to go to U.A but not like this, he was quite frankly speechless.
“You can come to my class and learn to be a hero or you can go to the general ed.” Aizawa said, “But, You still have a chance to become a hero” He smiled.
Tears filled Izuku’s eyes, he couldn’t believe this was actually happening.
“Can I really be a hero?” He asked in a weak voice.
“Yes, you can”
