Chapter Text
KB (Park Jimin)
Fighting away the smile that still threatens to show on my face, Jin and I enter the tent before RM and Suga, taking in the atmosphere. I look around, easily recognising the different gangs in the tent, thanks to Jin’s lesson yesterday on their names, likes and things to avoid.
Although there is a guy standing in the corner that I do not recognise, I nudge Jin to look in his direction and he freezes, I look to him and his face as turned completely pale.
“Jin? Jin!” I say, shaking him gently by the shoulders, he blinks rapidly seemingly waking up from a trance, he makes eye contact with me, still slightly pale. “Who is that? You ok?” I ask, still gripping his shoulders, looking towards the shady man in the corner.
“Don’t worry about him” Jin’s voice calm and steady, him returning to his usual state except for a small hint of uneasiness still in his eyes. I let him go, take one more look that the statue like man in the corner before turning and following Jin to our seats. The meeting is about to begin.
Suga (Min Yoongi)
Walking into the tent is overwhelming. Loud voices yelling over each other, most of the gang’s representatives have arrived, not everyone is sitting though. Namjoon stays looking forward, calmly walking towards an empty seat. I stand behind Namjoons chair and we wait for everyone else to arrive, Kitty Gang, seated in front of us, TXT sitting next to them and others scattered.
Once it had calmed down a little, Namjoon spoke up, getting bored at this point.
“Thank you all for showing up!” He yells over the crowd. The noises dispersed one by one before silence engulfed the space. Namjoon joins his hands together in front of him, looking at every single person here, already establishing his leadership.
"Again, thank you for showing up and I'm grateful no one got themselves killed before I got here," he says, a few men snickering while shooting glares at those across the table. "I hope that everyone understands why we're here"
"They killed 3 of my best members!"
"They’re scumbags!"
Voices begin to rise again in aggression, screaming about the various things the military had come to them.
"Calm down and take your seats, nothing will get accomplished by screaming" Namjoon yells over them once again, his loud voice never failing to get the attention of crowds.
"Now, I don't think violence is the answer-" Another loud eruption of disagreements cuts him off, he sighs deeply before reaching to his hip and pulling the handgun out of his belt. Pointing the gun up to the air, he fires, light from the moon shining through the bullet-shaped hole, now in the tent. Silence once again.
"As I was saying," he says calmly, placing the gun on the table in front of him, a silent threat everyone understood.
"I don't think brute force will fix this, they outnumber and outgun us and honestly we've all seen what they can do" a series of nods circles the tent.
"Then what do you expect us to do?!" Hoshi from Seventeen calls out.
"I'm not sure, that's what we're here to discuss. There may be a chance for an agreement, where if we don't bother them, they don't bother us" Namjoon replies.
"HA, you really think that’s going to work? You know they’re never going to leave us alone!” JinJin from ASTRO yells out, other joining in with a simple ‘yeah’ or ‘that’s right!’
“Yes I know, this is where the dilemma comes in, in any case, they’re here to protect the main city against us, but civilians in the area are getting caught in the middle and taken to the city.” He makes a brief pause, no one makes a sound. “I think our path, should be to protect the civilians in the area. Avoid any unnecessary violence but keep those people from being sent into the city as much as we can. What do we think?”
“By unnecessary violence you mean??” a member speaks up from the other end.
“No killing people Showhu” Namjoon replies without hesitation.
“Copy that” Showhu replies, leaning back into his chair.
“I think if we wound up enough gangs and weapons we could bring those assholes down!” one of the representatives from Mamamoo shouts out.
“Moonbyul as much as I’d love to beat their smug bloody faces in, do you really think we can scrounge up enough gangs and weapons to fight off a whole army?” Namjoon counters.
“You don’t have to deal with them as much we do, they’re starting to take more of our land and even more of our citizens are hurt or killed! We should fight! And we can fight, we’re good with weapons and we know the area” She responds, making her case.
“But if we launch a full out battle with, then we are no better than they are and we’ll most likely kill more of the citizens in the crossfire. We may be gangs but we don’t need to kill a bunch of people just to prove to them we are strong” he makes a solid case.
Moonbyul opens her mouth to speak again but hesitates, she slumps back into her chair and sighs.
“I say we take it too a vote!” I yell before anyone else can speak up.
“Agreed” Namjoon bellows. “All in favour of the Witness Protection plan?” About 75% of the group raised their hands, that’s a surprising amount of people voting for a non-violent option in a tent full of gang leaders and members. “Okay, it’s settled then. Now, let’s hash out a game plan.”
“We’ll have a minimum of two patrol groups per gang that have more than 4 members, similar to what we do now but, those patrols won’t be just around the gang’s perimeter. We will spread the patrols out to reach all the smaller communities of people still living out here. In patrol groups of 3 or 4, make your way peacefully into their communities and explain to them that there will be a patrol group daily walking around that area and that they are there to help ward against any potential threats, not to cause any trouble with the community” Namjoon speaks out, gesturing and looking at everyone around the table. “Everyone understand? Any questions?”
“Yeah, what if the community don’t want us patrolling their area?” KJ asks.
“Yes, well if they object to that, ensure to them that it is for their safety and that you’re not there to intrude or harm them in any way. If they still object, try and patrol in secret without them knowing, we can’t let any more helpless people get taken to the main city. All clear?” he answers, looking around the group again. Many nodding agreeing to the plan. “Great, now that that’s all sorted, head back and make your patrol groups, we will start patrolling tomorrow” Namjoon concluded standing and leaving the tent, I follow behind as everyone else starts to get up and leave as well.
A short but successful meeting.
