Seven Days (DISCONTINUED)

Chapter 2: The day you knew

Summary:

Here's chapter 2, enjoy!

Chapter Text

Fluke did not wake up until breakfast of the next day and Ohm did nothing but to stay by his side. The taller male would often check on Fluke every hour while he stayed at the living room, reading some books he saw on lying Fluke's unused desk.

The other who had been sleeping soundly did not even have the chance to eat supper that night so Ohm figured he should cook a hearty breakfast for the two of them, because the adults were going out to arrange important matters and had left the huge house to the both of them.

The breakfast table was silent but Fluke was enjoying the meal in front of him; pancakes, bacon, eggs and a cup of coffee that keeps him going. Ohm had helped him get up the bed and into the dining to eat, and afterwards, Fluke needed to take a bath, or else he would smell.

"Thank you for breakfast." The smaller male stammers, unable to speak clearly.

"My pleasure, now, can you stay in the living room while I clean up? Then I can help you take a bath." Fluke's eyes widened at the remark and Ohm laughed.

"If you only want to wash your hair, we can do that, silly." He nods his head as Ohm once again helped him get to the couch where his books were sprawled out.

"You were r-reading my b-books?" Fluke silently asks, his small hands tracing over the pages and stops right where Ohm had placed the bookmark.

The blue bookmark that was made out of resin that they did together during an arts and crafts lesson they took together.

"I was, go ahead and rest for a while, I'll be back in a while." Ohm softly ruffles the brown hair with his large hands, making the other smile cutely.

"Thank you, P'Ohm."

He had learned to always say thank you to almost everything that Ohm does for him, he wanted him to feel appreciated, even for the last days of Fluke's life, he wanted to shower Ohm with love.

"Always."

Ohm found it rather nice to have Fluke saying thank you's every now and then, he would only smile in reply but now responding with 'always' became his thing.

He knew that it would be one of the last words he would be hearing from Fluke.

Even though Fluke wanted to go out, it would be too risky and detrimental for him, so Ohm brought the outside world into the four corners of Fluke's room. For the second day, the taller male had his hands full of Fluke's favorite scones from the cafe downtown, two cups of Ohm's choice of coffee (flat white) and the television ready for them to watch some movies together.

They were in their first movie of the day, Fluke on one end of the couch while Ohm on the other. Both holding some food, and Ohm with an additional box of tissues on the side.

"I am in love with you. And I know that love is just a shout into the void and that oblivion is inevitable and that we're all doomed. And that one day all of our labors will be returned to dust. And I know that the sun will swallow the only Earth we will ever have. And I am in love with you." Augustus says to Hazel, the movie touching Fluke's heart even if he's watched it a million times before today.

"Fluke stop crying, you look like an idiot." Ohm comments by his side, passing on the box of tissue he was holding to.

Fluke hastily grabs the box and wipes his stupid tears, "TFIOS a-always makes me c-cry P'Ohm. Don't tease me."

"Okay, that's it. Let's stop these movies, do you want to bake some cookies?" Ohm gladly offers and Fluke nods in joy. Baking was his absolute favorite thing to do in the world, he feels safe and at ease when he's in the kitchen all the baking tools sprawled in front of him.

Like everything was perfect.

They slowly walked towards the spacious kitchen of the Siripongthon's, with Ohm's hand on the small of Fluke's back and another holding him close to help him walk slowly but surely. Once settled on the bar stool, Ohm smiled at the other as he went on to find the needed tools for their impromptu baking session.

Fluke was in awe. Ohm still knew of the tiny details of their home, like where the Pyrex bowls are, the cupboard where they keep all of their flours or even the tiny corner of the third drawer where the cookie cutters were.

Despite the fact that they had broken up almost a year ago, Fluke had never replaced Ohm in his life and most especially in his heart. He had swore that Ohm was the first and last man that he will ever love in all of his lifetimes.

In his dying days, he chose to be with the man who showed him the light but also the same man who brought him back to the darkness.

He stared at Ohm who was busy moving around placing everything in the kitchen counter, the tears slowly stinging his eyes. "Y-you know, P'Ohm. If w-we hadn't b-broken up, we could've b-been m-married by now."

Ohm stopped on his tracks realizing what Fluke had just said.

The sadness was evident in his voice as he continues, "Remember when we had planned to go to New York to get married? When you asked me if I wanted to and when I said yes, you cried?" The tears finally went out.

"I wish I could really go back in time where everything was right, I should've married you back then but I was too scared. Too scared I was going to lose you."

"And now I did."

But little did you know you're losing me too.

"Fluke you do know why we broke up, right?" Ohm softly asks, placing down the rubber spatula he was holding and going to Fluke's side settling down next to him.

"Of c-course I k-know P'Ohm. How could I forget?" Fluke stutters badly with how the words slurred in his lips as he prevented the tears from falling but failed. "I c-can never b-blame you, maybe I was the p-problem."

"No, no don't think like that, Fluke. You were the best but maybe the us could just never really work out. I'm not the one for you." The taller male replies, caressing the brown locks ever so slowly, trying to make Fluke feel at ease.

The rest of the day ended up with Ohm doing all the baking and Fluke watching by the kitchen stool. Deciding it was best for them not to dwell too much on the past, Fluke smiles in joy as the oven opens and he smells the freshly baked cinnamon rolls.

"Let them sit for a while, Fluke. Don't eat right away." Ohm warns playfully, as Fluke was about to grab one from the rack.

"Okay." He muttered a small reply and was about to back away when suddenly, all the force went out of his body as he stumbled down the stool and met with the hard concrete floor.

"Fluke!" Was the last thing he had heard before he gave in to the darkness.

Ah, we meet again.

He ended up sleeping for the rest of the day, and when he woke up, he saw the clock striking one in the morning. The heavy duvet was over him and the man sleeping beside his bed was holding his hand.

I wish we could be like this forever, P'Ohm.

He slightly moves causing Ohm to wake up from his light slumber, "Hey are you feeling okay?" He asks right away after seeing the other wide awake.

"F-fine." His voice cracked more than usual and Ohm was alarmed.

"Let me call your parents, they were very worried." He was about to stand up when Fluke grabbed him by the arm and softly shook his head.

"S-stay, a-and read me a p-poem."

"Okay."

Ohm goes back to his seat, taking the abandoned book on the bedside table and flipping through the pages.

"P-page 20." Fluke mumbles as Ohm obliged.

"There was a time when I thought I wanted more.

When I saw the sky as a soaring highway and the world as one big carousel.

But those yearnings have grown so distant, ebbed so far away from me, they feel as though they belong to someone else.

All I want now is a rainy day, a roaring fire, you and I talking-"

"-About how quickly the time has gone." Fluke says in clear words, the prose now etched onto his mind. Lines memorized and even he got the page number right.

"A-another o-one." He requests, eyes brimming with tears.

"There are days when the melancholy settles on you like a sudden change in weather.

The kind of sadness that is intangible.

Like the presence of an ache where you can't pinpoint exactly where it hurts, you just know it does." Ohm finishes off the second one as he notices Fluke getting drowsy.

"Are you sleepy again?"

"Yes."

"Get some rest now, Fluke. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Don't l-leave Fluke na?" The soft voice erupted inside the room as Fluke looked at Ohm, pleading almost begging for him to stay.

And who was Ohm to say no?

"I'll stay.

"Come l-lay with me P'Ohm."

For the nth time, he obliged, steadying himself on the other side of the bed, just beside the window, his arms automatically going under Fluke's and his chest being occupied by the small head leaning completely against him.

Fluke surrenders himself completely to Ohm's familiar warmth, his body instantly recognizing that of the other. Sleep welcomes him in a few minutes as he lays down and when he is about to succumb to it, he mumbled a soft I love you to the other.

Ohm clearly heard of it and he only could smile.

Hearing the even breathing that came from the smaller man in his embrace, Ohm knew Fluke was in deep sleep. He has been caressing the soft hair every now and then making sure he wouldn't wake up due to any unnecessary noise coming from the outside.

"Please tell me what's happening to him? I thought he was getting better?" Ohm says to the two adults facing him.

"Ohm, there's no way for Fluke to get better. The doctors have tried their best and Fluke too, decided we should give up." The older male answers, giving Ohm the shock of his life.

"He wants to g-give up?" Ohm asks, making sure he heard the right thing.

"Yes, son. And he chose to spend his last days with you because you are the only one who can make him happy, despite anything that you do, anything that you say or just by simply being there for him, you make our son happy." Mrs. Siripongthon states, holding Ohm's hand in hers.

"You don't know how much he smiles when he goes through all of the scrapbooks you guys made when you were still together. How much he laughs when watching the videos of you ice skating back in the days, or how much he cries looking at the dried and withered flowers that he kept from when you would give him during your anniversaries. Ohm, you were and still are the only person who can make him like this. You can make him happy and sad both at the same time."

"But despite all of that, he always says to me, without fail, everyday. 'Mae, I love him so much. He is my home.' He has never failed to express his feelings for you, and if I could only pass them on to you, Ohm, son, I could never express them with words."

"Ohm, this is all we ask of you. Please even with his last remaining days, do what he wants you to do, read him poems everyday, sing him songs if he asks you to. Because this will all be his last, and he wants them to be with you."

"I will." He says with certainty.

Ohm gently kisses the top of Fluke's head, a tear leaving his eye.

"I'm sorry you had to go through all of this, but I promise you. I will make you happy through your last days and I hope you can forgive me for hurting you the most, Fluke."
