Two days later, Namjoon pays Tae a surprise visit.
🐯: “Hyung, what are you doing here?”, he asks, yawning sleepily, since it is 5 AM in the morning.
🐨: “Jimin told me that you missed me and didn’t tell me because you were afraid I might not be able to focus on my training”
🐯: “Oh”
He knows, the other must have told Joon because he doesn’t want him to be alone. He doesn’t blame him, for he really missed his hyung.
🐨: “What happened to you? You look more like a patient, not a doctor”
🐯: “Gee thanks, I was just lazy. Gonna get myself groomed this week anyway”, he says.
It’s good that he exchanged his contact with Jin. They have really gotten close after his makeover, texting each other occasionally and him asking about Namjoon’s well being.
Speaking of which, he makes a mental note to introduce Namjoon to Jin, since he already promised the other before.
He texted Jin already and blocked the time for his makeover that week. The next day Tae talks to Namjoon about Jin and tells him about how the other is crazy about him. He even shows him the selfie they took last time and Namjoon gets interested to know about the said person. Specially since the other is stunningly handsome. Tae successfully arranges a date for them and Jin is in a verge of fainting when Tae informed him about their date.
It’s the day of the celebrations and Jin is helping him out with his make up and attire. There is a tradition or sort of a fundraiser that happens every year at their Annual Hospital celebrations, called ‘Date a Doc’.
The doctors can list their names and the audiences who are interested to date them will have to participate in an auction. Tae was never interested in such things before, but since he wants to try and live his life, exploring different possibilities, he happens to give his name this year.
The event is specifically for the hospital employees, their friends, family and also open to public who wishes to do some charity and participate in the fundraiser segment of the event.
Tae is finally ready and checking himself out on the mirror. He doesn’t believe his eyes. Jin gets ready too, since Namjoon would be attending the hospital celebrations and wanted him to be his date.
🐯: “Thank You Jin Hyung, your hands have magic”, he says, in awe of himself.
🐹: “You look handsome already. Sometimes gold just requires a bit of polishing to shine”, he says and winks.
🐯: “Come on Hyung!”, he blushes.
“Joonie hyung will pick you up at 7 pm, not sure if he texted you already. I’ll head back home now, see you at the event. Thanks again hyung”, he says and hugs him.
Tae heads back home since Seojoon said he would pick him up at his place. He sits on his couch and browses through channels on the tv, waiting for the other’s arrival. Just then, the door bell rings. He grabs his wallet and keys knowing it is Seojoon.
He opens the door and Seojoon is frozen at the door step, the moment his eyes landed on Tae.
👨⚕️: “Wow!”, is all he manages to say.
Tae blushes at the reaction.
Seojoon offers his hand and leads him to his car.
👨⚕️: “Everytime I think that it’s the best I’ve seen you in, you prove me wrong. You look absolutely stunning today”
🐯: “Thank You, you look good too”, he says, ears turning red.
Seojoon keeps throwing glances towards the other as they drive to the venue. Tae is feeling super confident too, because he has seen himself in the mirror and was truly in love with how he looked.
The car comes to a stop in the parking lot. Seojoon opens the door for him and lends his arm for Tae to hold. Tae notices some of his staff stopping and glancing at him. That’s when he realizes that it’s been a while that anyone at work has seen him.
👨⚕️: “I’m afraid I’ll have a tough competition to win a date with you tonight”, he comments, watching the way everyone is looking at Tae.
Tae laughs it off.
The stares increase as they enter the hall and Tae is slowly starting to get conscious.
🐯: “I think I need a drink”
👨⚕️: “I can get it for you, what do you prefer?”
🐯: “Thank you, champagne should be fine”, he says with a smile.
He finds Jimin, Hobi, Hoseok, Namjoon and Jin already standing there, already conversing with each other. He walks towards them, feeling happy at the sight.
Hobi notices Tae.
🐿: “Who is this handsome human right here?”, he comments
🐯: “Ahhh thanks Hobs, Jin hyung here helped me get ready”
🐿: “I came to know about that, I’m glad you helped him. I couldn’t see him last week”
🐹: “I was shocked too, when I saw him”
🐥: “I think he was a better version of the worst when you met him”
🐱: “You must have seen him during last weekend. I feel bad for him”
Tae immediately panics at that statement.
🐨: “Feel bad? Why?”
🐯: “N-nothing hyung, he meant he was feeling bad for me because I never took a break before. Right Yoongi?”, he asks, hoping the other gets the memo.
Yoongi doesn’t understand. So Hobi had to subtlety poke him and whisper to play along.
🐱: “Y-yeah. That’s what I meant”
Luckily Namjoon doesn’t think much about it since he is a bit distracted by the handsome man beside him. Hobi takes Yoongi for drinks and explains him. Seojoon joins them with the drinks.
The announcement for the fundraiser is made and Tae starts to get nervous. He has never done such thing before in life. What if nobody bids on him? It would be such an embarrassment. But he hopes it won’t be the case, since he doesn’t look so bad tonight.
All the participants are called one by one on the stage. They are supposed to introduce themselves to the audience and give them a brief summary about themselves, their likes and dislikes. Seojoon doesn’t let go of Tae the whole night. He is showering him with compliments from time to time.
He is enjoying all the attention but he can’t help but think about Jungkook. Seojoon is like a handsome gentleman, well mannered and courteous. Jungkook is all the above but he isn’t the classy and soft types. He is rough, he has tattoos and piercings. He never had a liking for those until he met Jungkook. He started liking everything about Jungkook.
He mentally curses himself for thinking about Jungkook again, when he realizes he zoned out while Seojoon was talking to him. He makes sure he focuses on someone who is beside him at the moment, than on the person who is not and probably would never be.
Tae’s name is announced and he steps on the stage.
🐯: “Good Evening, everyone! I’m Dr. Kim Taehyung, a physiotherapist at the Daegu Medical Center”, he looks at everyone’s faces and gets nervous, forgetting what he has to say.
“I like to treat my patients... umm... thank you!”, he says quickly and gets down from the stage.
He hurriedly walks towards his friends.
🐯: “If nobody wants to bid for me, I want you guys to do it. I was a mess on the stage and I don’t wanna embarrass myself more. And, don’t worry about the money, I’ll pay”, he says.
🐥: “I’m sure we don’t have to”
🐿: “Yeah, I’m pretty sure Seojoon is already bidding for you”
🐱: “We won’t let you get embarrassed, don’t worry”
🐹: “Wait let me start a bid for you, it’ll be fun. 500,000 ₩ !”, he announces.
🐯: “Hyung... that’s huge”
🐹: “People need to try harder to bag a date with you”, he winks.
👨⚕️: “750,000 ₩”, he announces and Tae is surprised.
He smiles playfully, meeting Tae’s surprised eyes.
🐹: “1,000,000 ₩”
🐯: “Hyung you are risking it, what if Seojoon gives up. You’ll end up losing a lot. And I can afford so much too”
Before he can finish, Seojoon announces again.
👨⚕️: “2,000,000 ₩”
Tae is shocked.
Nobody raises the amount again.
“2,000,000 ₩ going once”, the announcer says.
“5,000,000 ₩!”, a familiar voice announces.
Tae turns around to look at the source of sound and is shocked to see Jungkook, dressed up in a suit, looking like a model, hot and handsome.
Everyone in the hall start to whisper, hearing the enormous amount. Tae is in a mix of shock and confusion. Jungkook glances towards him and his shameless heart skips a beat again. Can’t blame him though, he missed the other so much.
Seojoon furrows his brows and coughs to get everyone’s attention.
👨⚕️: “5,500,000 ₩”
At this point both Jungkook and Seojoon are glaring at each other. Tae doesn’t know what’s happening, what Jungkook is doing at the event and why he is even bidding for him.
“5,500,000 ₩ going once”
”5,500,000 ₩ going twice”
🐰: ”10,000,000 ₩”, he announces and gives Seojoon a challenging look.
Everyone gasp, hearing the amount. Seojoon shakes his head, looking between Jungkook and Tae.
”10,000,000 ₩ going once”
”10,000,000 ₩ going twice”
”10,000,000 ₩ going thrice”
”And the gentleman over here won a date with Dr. Kim Taehyung”, the announcement is made.
Jungkook grins and walks towards Tae, who is standing frozen in his place.
🐯: “You spent that ab noxious amount on someone you didn’t want?”, he says, as if stating facts.
Jungkook doesn’t answer, he just hugs him tightly. Tae doesn’t know whether he should push him away or hug him back.
🐰: “I know”, he says after few seconds.
Tae pulls back to study his face. He looks serious.
🐯: “Then why did you do it?”
🐰: “I wanted to see you, I missed you so much”
🐯: “That doesn’t answer my question, Jungkook”
🐰: “You look so so handsome today. Makes me wonder if you are even real”
Tae doesn’t respond. He folds his hand and gives him a serious look, as if telling him to spill the truth or he is walking out. Jungkook notices that, feeling nervous. Something that Tae has never seen on the other.
🐰: “I won the tournament”
🐯: “I know, congratulations! You got what you always wanted. I’m happy for you”
🐰: “Not always”, he says
Tae raises his eyebrows.
🐰: “All my goals and ambitions have changed ever since I stepped into your office that day”
Tae is confused on what to believe. It’s the exact opposite of what he said in the kitchen that day.
🐰: “I took a voluntary retirement from boxing”
🐯: “What? Why? You won that tournament”, he asks in shock and confusion.
🐰: “I made that decision even before winning that tournament. It was just a bonus”
🐯: “Then what about your career?”
🐰: “Someone once told me, I am talented enough to do a lot more other than just boxing”
🐯: “What are you planning to do now?”
🐰: “I am planning to move back to Daegu. Study arts and open a boxing academy simultaneously”
🐯: “Oh”
🐰: “I also hope you to forgive me for being a jerk and saying all those things. I didn’t mean any of those. I- I was just confused. I hope you’ll give me another chance”
🐯: “Did you quit boxing for me? If so, I can’t bear the guilt of taking you away from your career”
🐰: “No, I quit it for myself. I don’t want to do something just to satisfy someone”
🐯: “I see. I’ll try and forgive you. But, you still haven’t answered my question from before. Why did you bid for me?”
Jungkook takes a deep breath to ease his nervousness.
🐰: “It’s because I love you. And I can’t see you go out on a date with someone else. I couldn’t handle it previously either. I just tried to mask my emotions before. But now, I don’t have a reason to. So, I wanna do it right this time. Do you wanna go out on a date with me? Like an actual date this time”
Taehyung looks at him with teary eyes. He was mad at him before but he never stopped loving him.
🐰: “It’s okay if you don’t love me anymore, I kind of deserve it anyway-“
🐯: “Yes”
🐰: “What?”
🐯: “Yes, I’ll go on a date with you”
🐰: “Really?”, he asks to double check.
He was actually not expecting it.
🐯: “Yes”
Jungkook cries in happiness and pulls him into a hug.
🐰: “Thank you... thank you so much. I’m gonna make you feel all the love I have for you no matter how long it takes and marry you when you are ready one day. I know I’m thinking ahead of myself, but I really can’t imagine my life without you Taehyung, I really really love you so much”
🐯: “I love you too Jungkook, never stopped loving you. Thank you for coming back”, he says, feeling a lot of emotions at once.
Jungkook lifts his chin up gently with his fingers and kisses him. Both of them kiss, trying to fill the vacuum in their hearts, not caring about the surroundings or the people watching them.
*** Two years later ***
Jungkook and Tae are happily married. They got married 6 months after their confession at the event, that night. They adopted a puppy, Yeontan and a baby girl. They named her Taekook and are now one happy family.
Jimin was mad at Jungkook initially, but calmed down when he finally got to punch the other for making his best friend cry. Namjoon was happy that his best friend was going to be part of his family.
Jungkook is an artist now and his boxing academy is running well too. Tae is a well known physiotherapist in the country and as he always dreamt of, he is now the head of the department. He has a lot of celebrities as his patients, after the news about Jungkook’s miracle recovery spread.
Hobi and Yoongi married a year after Jungkook and Taehyung’s wedding. Namjoon and Jin are still dating. Jimin moved to Seoul and opened a fashion label of his own.
Jin moved to Seoul too, for Namjoon. Jimin and Jin are now working together.
Life is going great for everyone and they meet up regularly whenever they find time. Tae finally gets to experience everything he dreamt of in his life, with the love of his life beside him, supporting him in every step of life.
Jungkook is living his dream too. His love for Taehyung just increases every minute. He makes sure the other knows and feels it too. Both of them are disgustingly in love with each other even after two years and we Taekookers know that they always will be.
