Nelle woke up excited for the day. Today is the day she has been waiting for forever. To be honest, she felt like it was Christmas morning. She looked over to her sleeping wife and brushed her hair out of her face. Eve was sprawled out on the bed with her mouth open and drooling on the pillow beside her. Nelle grabbed her phone and took a picture. Then got out of bed and quickly brushed her teeth.
Nelle came out and walked to Evan's door. She could hear her little boy playing in the crib from the hallway. She opened the door quietly and watched him play with the stuffed animals that have infiltrated his crib. She leaned against the doorjamb and waited for him to realize that she was in the room. It didn't take long.
"Mama! Mama! Up!"
Evan smiled at Nelle with his toothy grin. It instantly melted her heart. He stood up in the crib and reached out to her. It was hard to believe that something so bright came out of one of the darkest periods of her life. Her heart has only swelled with love for not only her adorable son but her wife.
Nelle went to the crib and picked up her son. He looked at her with his deep brown eyes, the same that Eve has. She kissed him on the top of his unruly light brown hair.
"Good morning, Evan. How did you sleep? I hope well. We have a really, really big day today. We are going to surprise Mommy today. Did you know a year ago today she and I got married? I know! And to think in a couple days, someone is turning one!"
Evan giggled as Nelle tickled him.
"Shhh, let's go downstairs and make Mommy some breakfast."
The duo retreated downstairs. Nelle turned on some music and put Evan in his high chair. She got the ingredients ready to make Eve some choco-cherry pancakes. Something that she has been perfecting over the past couple of months. She turned on the coffee pot and fried up some bacon. It was Eve's favorite food, something that hadn't changed from the pregnancy.
Eve came down the stairs, snuck into the kitchen, and wrapped her hands around Nelle's waist.
"Good morning, babe."
"Well, a good morning it is."
"How are you today?"
"I am good. Bacon is almost done. Pancakes are finished if you wanna start feeding Evan."
"And good morning to you, bubba." Eve leaned down and gave Evan a kiss.
"Has he been up long?"
"Not really."
"Why didn't you wake me? It was my morning to get him."
"You were sleeping, and I was up. I didn't mind. I mean, it was the least I could do after last night."
Nelle went over to Eve and gave her a slap on her ass.
"Well, I am glad you enjoyed yourself."
Nelle gave her a wink.
"Sit and enjoy. I worked hard on perfecting those pancakes."
"They are good, Nelle."
"Just good? Damn, what is missing from it."
"Baby, they are the best pancakes I have ever tasted."
Eve pulls her into a kiss. It was a deep kiss; she swiped her tongue along the bottom lip of Nelle. Nelle could taste the chocolate on Eve's lips. Eve moved to pull the kiss deeper, but Nelle pulled away. Nelle hurried went to the kitchen sink and cleaned the dishes.
"Thank you for breakfast. It is delicious." Eve says as she pulls away to take another bite of bacon.
"So, what are we going to be doing today?"
"I don't know. I don't really have any plans today besides hanging out with this adorable little man."
"Oh, I see."
"Do you have any plans?"
"Um, no, I was sort of hoping that we could spend it together."
"Couldn't get enough of me last night, huh?" Nelle says as she bites her lower lip. "I know we just ate, but I was hoping you and I could go grab some lunch and maybe do some errands."
"Oh, that's the reason, Casanova. When do you want to go?"
"As soon as possible. Go take a shower, and then we will leave, okay?"
"Sure"
Nelle had taken the quickest shower of her life and then got Evan ready for their surprise trip.
This is all working out like I planned. Eve has no clue. I think she thinks I forgot today is our anniversary. Like I could ever forget that day ever. All my plans are in motion as we speak .
Eve came down the stairs, and Nelle loaded Evan into the car. Nelle jumped into the driver's seat and waited on Eve. Nelle was excited for the trip. She had been planning this since Eve came home from the hospital. Time had seemed to get away from them, with Eve working hard to recover fully from her injuries. Never an avid runner, Eve had been working hard to get back into shape. A common joke between Eve and Nelle is that Eve has become more in shape than Nelle. Nelle didn't mind it. She was proud of Eve and the progress that she was making. She definitely didn't mind the benefits of her getting into shape either, something that made their nightly romps hotter.
"So, what errands do we have to run?" Eve asked.
"Elena told me about this cute little shop that she went to a couple weekends ago, and she suggested I go up there and check it out."
"This is your errand, Nelle?"
"What I knew you wouldn't come with me if I told you I wanted to go shopping."
"I know you well enough that when you say I have to run an errand, it means you want to go shopping."
"You know me so well. We will be on the road a while, so if you want, take a nap, I can wake you up when we are there."
"How far is far, Nelle?"
"Take a nap, Eve; you're cranky," Nelle said with a mischievous grin. "And you are so mean when you are cranky."
"Perhaps it's because we didn't have sex this morning on our anniversary," Eve said under her breath. Eve rotated in the seat and faced away from Nelle.
I cannot believe that she forgot our anniversary. Eve's fury changed into sadness, and she closed her eyes and drifted into a Zen-like slumber.
Eve and Evan had finally fallen asleep, and Nelle was relieved. She hated lying to Eve, and she knew Eve was furious. The one or two-word sentences that had taken place when Eve would wake made Nelle acutely aware of the fact. Nelle knew that while Eve may be mad at her now but come tonight, that wouldn't be the case.
Eve woke up to the stopping vehicle. She heard Nelle get out of the car and get Evan out of the car. Eve was determined to be as stubborn as she could. Nelle opened Eve's door, squatted down, and kissed her cheek. Evan sitting on Nelle's lap grabbed Eve. "Mama," he says. Evan reached out to Eve and pulled on her curly locks. She opened one eye, and one glance on the little boy immediately shifted her mood from sour to happy.
Eve swung her feet out as the bellhop and valet took their bags out of the SUV. As Eve rose, she took Evan in her arms and grabbed Nelle's hand.
"Where are we, Nelle? I thought you said we were getting lunch."
"Well, we are technically."

Valet handed Nelle the ticket, and the family checked into the hotel. Immediately they were greeted by the friendly staff who were given their MagicBands.
The Grand Floridian is the poshest hotel on Disney property, and Nelle just booked the presidential suite for the week. They got to the door, and Nelle scanned the band, and the door unlocked. She let Eve walk in first, and Eve's jaw dropped. The space was beautiful. The view was to die for. You could see the Seven Seas Lagoon and could even see Cinderella's castle. Eve walked around the room and was awestruck.
Suddenly there was a ringing in Nelle's pocket. She answered it and walked into the other room. Eve picked up Evan and brought him to the windows, and started pointing out the different spots. Nelle came up behind her and wrapped her arms around Eve's waist. Eve looked over at Nelle and gave her a faint smile. Eve went to kiss Nelle, but there was a sudden loud knock on the door.
Nelle walked over and answered it, and in walked Konstatin and Carolyn. Hugs were given all around, and Carolyn reached for Evan and put him in the stroller. Nelle handed her an overnight bag and gave farewell hugs.
"We will keep him safe. You two have a good night. Say bye-bye to Mommy and Mama," She said with a wink.
"Umm, bye. Love you, Evan, and thanks, guys." Eve was utterly confused. The door closed, and Nelle walked up to Eve.
"What is going on Nelle, not that I am complaining, but this is amazing, Nelle," Eve said
"Happy Anniversary Eve," Nelle said back as she wrapped her arms around Eve's waist.
"Happy Anniversary, Nelle. God, look at how far we have come this year. I love you so much, and I know that I would not have everything I have without you: a sexy ass wife, an amazing son, a great set of parents. The best choice I made was loving you, and I will never stop. Even when you are a punk by making me think that you forgot our anniversary."
"Eve, do you really think that I could forget the day that changed my life forever? When you married me, you made me the happiest woman in the world. You have each and every day since. You have given me a handsome son and true love that will never die. Every day, I find something new that I love about you. I can promise you I will never forget the day that you agreed to be with me, and it will forever be celebrated."
"I am sorry that I don't have your anniversary present here." Eve said, "Had I known we were coming here, I would have packed it."
"Hold that thought." Nelle walked out of the room and returned with two boxes.
"Seriously, have you thought of everything? You are truly special." Eve said and then kissed Nelle.
"Honestly, I saw them on the kitchen table and knew they were for me, so I grabbed them and cause I wanted to see what you got me."
"It isn't much, but I hope you like it." She said as she watched Nelle open her gifts. She started with the small one, which held a watch. "The modern 1st-anniversary present is a clock. It's an apple watch, so you can actually update it with pictures for your background, and it can keep health stats as well. Nelle opened the second gift; it was a picture frame that held a piece of paper with their wedding vows written down.
"It's perfect, Eve. I love them so much, thank you." Nelle said as she pulled her into a kiss.
Nelle pulled back and walked out of the room, and returned with a couple presents of her own, and when Eve opened them she found a silhouette of them on their wedding day on the beach. Eve then opened the second present and found a painting of the history of Eve and Nelle starting from when they first met, which included the date and a painting of the firehouse. Then went on to show other important days of their time together like the trip up to Gainesville to visit Claire and made love the first time, the karaoke bar where Nelle finally admitted that she loved Eve, the proposal, the wedding, Evan's birth, and the first anniversary at Disney World. Eve looked at the painting and started to cry.
"This is an amazing gift, Nelle," Eve said as she wrapped her arms around Nelle's neck. "I love you so much, and I cannot wait to shower you with presents, love, and kisses for the rest of our lives. And I am so sorry that I threw a fit today." Eve moved in to give her wife a kiss.
Nelle gave her a peck and then pulled away. "If we start to kiss, I am not going to stop. We need some sort of substance in our bellies before I ravage you tonight." Eve moaned in frustration.
An alert sounded in Nelle's phone. She looked up and smiled. "Change of plans, dear." She said as she threw her phone down on the couch. She moved at a quickened pace towards her wife.
