Chapter Text

                                                                               Ten Years Later

“Wife. Children. Dinner is ready!” Oliver calls out into the house to summon his family to the dinner table.

As he places the lasagna on the table he sees William from the corner of his eye with his nose in a book enter the dining room.

His oldest son may share his and Felicity’s DNA but he is all Felicity where brains are concerned. Only Felicity Smoak-Queen’s child could read a whole Harry Potter book at the age of seven by himself.

But in looks William was equal to him and Felicity. He had their blue eyes, Felicity’s adorable nose, Oliver’s dark dirty blonde hair and the Queen smile. And Oliver loves every part of him, his intelligent side, his athletic side and his snarky side.

And he loved his sister no less, but they were truly night and day. Mia was a wild child. She never calculated a thing before doing it, very opposite to William. She didn’t care if she got hurt trying it, she wasn’t afraid. She acted first and dealt with setbacks later. It scared them all to death, especially William when they’d go to the playground and he constantly had to stop her from jumping off things.

Mia was all Oliver in personality and all Felicity in looks. She was stubborn, driven and brave, but a carbon copy of his wife. With wide blue eyes, blonde hair, a beautiful smile and a very expressive face; it was like Felicity cloned herself as a child.

Seeing his four year old daughter and seven year old son constantly made them wonder what their new son would be like. What he’d look like. He and Felicity both had a feeling that the world was not ready for Thomas Jonas Smoak-Queen.

As if reading his mind Felicity enters the dining room with Mia’s hand in hers while her other hand laid on her very pregnant belly and scrunched her nose as she looks at him and says, “Your son seems to think my organs are a playground.”

“Is he doing it again?” Oliver asks her as he walks over to scoop Mia up and rub her belly.

“Like he ever stops.” Felicity says with a small smile while rolling her eyes. She kisses him on the cheek as she passes him.

They all settle at the table, prying the book away from William to start dinner. They eat while asking William about his book and both the kids about their days at school. Mia also informs them how she told her teacher about the Jonas Brothers getting back together again and how their song was Hello Beautiful because it reminded Oliver of Felicity.

As they’re finishing up dinner to get the kids ready for bed William goes up to Oliver who’s loading the dishwasher and watches him.

“What’s up, buddy?” Oliver asks. William looks at him analyzing him, as if to see if he can really ask him anything before nodding to himself.

“I had a question…” William said.

“Go ahead then…” Oliver responds with a small smile on his lips, seeing his wife linger in the doorway in the background. He finishes the dishes giving William his full attention, knowing that’s what the little boy is waiting for.

“You know my friend Tyler right?” William asks, and his voice is so small yet clear and decisive. It’s truly an anomaly.

“Yes, I do…” Oliver answers wondering where this is going. He looks at his wife and she shrugs.

“Well then you know he has two dads,” William says in a very serious manner, his brow furrowing as if to ask, ‘why didn’t anyone clue me in?’

Oliver looks at his wife again and she nods.

“Yeah, mommy and I know that, Will,” Oliver says.

“And that’s okay?” William asks with his eyebrows furrowing more, his lips pouting the way Felicity does when she’s deep in thought.

“That’s more than okay. Not every family is like ours, some have two mommies, two daddies, one mommy or one daddy, some have just pop pops and bubbes. And that’s okay, we don’t judge people that aren’t like us and certainly not for who they love.”

Oliver says, kneeling to look in his son's eyes as his wife comes up behind him.

“Not every boy loves girls and not every girl loves boys. Some love both, some girls love girls and some boys love boys. It’s also okay not to know. Everyone is different and that’s okay. We support everyone and who they love, okay baby?” Felicity asks William, rubbing his shoulders.

William looks between the two of them as if assessing the situation and all the information they’ve given. And nods gently.

“Okay… I was just curious… It's good to know. How will I know what I like?” William asks.

Oliver takes a deep breath and his wife takes over, turning William to face her.

“How about we cross that bridge when and if we get to it? And if you ever have any questions or need to talk to me and daddy about something you can always come to us, okay?” Felicity asks him.

“Sure, mommy, that’s fine. I did just come to talk to daddy though…where’d you come from?” William answers confused.

He and Felicity laugh at their son's bluntness. Before Felicity says, “well I put your sister to bed and realized you, mister, were missing in action so I came to get you in bed.”

“I see…” William says pausing to look between parents again before continuing, “we should all go to bed now then. We have the space exhibit tomorrow. Can you tell me yours and daddy’s story before bed?”

“Of course, you go get in bed and I’ll be right up,” Felicity answers as William starts running past her.

Wrapping her arms around his neck Felicity kisses him gently with her belly nuzzled between them making him relax. He hadn’t even realized how tense he was before her kiss.

“I was not expecting that,” Oliver whispers against her lips.

Pulling away Felicity nods before saying, “he’s a very perceptive kid who doesn’t like having all the answers. I’m just happy he’s okay coming to us.”

Oliver nods silently, the wheels turning in his head.

“I hope that continues as he gets older,” Oliver says.

“Me too. But like I told him, we’ll cross those bridges when and if we get to it. It’s a different world than when we were growing up,” Felicity says, running her fingers through the hair at the back of his neck.

“It is… I just hope if any of them are different in whatever way. Be it intellect, looks, sexuality, that they come to us and that no one makes them feel less than perfect. Because they are so perfect,” Oliver sighs, leaning down to kiss his wife again.

She nods and says, “they really are aren’t they?”

Oliver is about to answer when his phone buzzes in his pocket with a call from Williams iPad. He answers to see his son in bed.

“Is mommy with you?” William asks. Felicity shakes her head at him as if to say no as she begins walking towards William’s room.

“Nope, buddy. I think she’s actually headed to you,” Oliver answers.

“Just her?” William asks, arching an eyebrow, looking very much like his mother.

“Yep,” Oliver answers, holding in a laugh.

“K. Great. Love you. Bye,” William says, hanging up on him. Leaving Oliver to look at the phone in awe.

He can’t believe they made these perfect, smart, funny children. He can’t believe he’s found Felicity all those years ago and that they built this life together. It was truly perfect. And despite the setbacks, he wouldn’t change a thing.
