Day 1 prompt - Mind control (not really :/)
---
“It’s like a game, Dream!” Nightmare said cheerfully, patting the boy’s head. “You just close your eyes and count to ten, and then you’ll feel like you’re asleep.”
“That sounds like a boring game,” Dream grumbled. He sat at the riverbank next to his brother, his toes dipping into the water and his fingers running through the sand. Nightmare cocked their masked head, considering Dream’s words.
“Sounds like you’re scared,” he said finally. Dream scoffed, giving Nightmare an offended look, not that the other could really see it under Dream’s own mask.
“I’m not scared, I just don’t want this to be boring. Theres a bunch of other things to do and you want me to count and close my eyes?”
“You test your powers out on the land all the time, but I can’t test out mine?” Nightmare whined. Dream lifted his mask above his nose to stick his tongue out teasingly.
The two boys were brothers, both admins, living and exploring their new world. It was their first one, and they were just starting to figure out their powers. Dream would create, gouging deep divides in the earth and filling them with water to make rivers, and packing clay together and breathing life into them to create animals. Nightmare could take, smashing Dream’s clay creations and causing the lush green fields around them to sink and rise into mountains and ravines.
Where Dream created forests, Nightmare created wildfires. When villages were first brought into existence during one of Dream’s games, Nightmare played back with pillager outposts. And when Dream breathed life into villagers and horses and rabbits, Nightmare sucked the life right back out again to make zombies and skeletons and creepers.
Despite being polar opposites, they were as thick as thieves. The twin admins wouldn’t leave each other for the world.
