Chapter Text

“I’m saddened by the path Iceman has chosen after we parted ways. There was nothing within my power that I could do, as a hero or as a partner. Rest assured, the heroes assigned to his case are the best in the business. I have no doubt that Iceman will face justice for his crimes.”

“Are you not on the investigation, Dabi?”

Touya gave a weak chuckle. “Unfortunately, that would fall under a conflict of interest. I’m also fairly certain that retaliation from Iceman would likely be much worse if I were involved. I will be giving any and all information at my disposal to help the case, but that will be the extent of my involvement.”

“I see… Well, we have one last question for you. If you could say anything to Iceman, if he’s by chance listening to our news report, what would you tell him?”

Shit, that was a good one; PR hadn’t given him a response for a question like that. Thank god they couldn’t see his face right now. It would’ve probably been a dead giveaway to how he was feeling— not to mention how red his eyes were from the previous night of panic attacks.

“I… would probably ask if it was worth it.”

“If what was worth it?”

Touya rubbed his eyes, leaning over in his office chair. He really wasn’t good with going off-script. PR was absolutely going to be up his ass in about ten minutes— maybe five if he really fucked up. He sighed.

“The choices he’s made. The innocent people he’s hurt along the way. Whatever manifesto he’s following for whatever reason he believes. I would just want to ask… was it worth it, you know?”

“I think all of us would like to know the answer to that question, too. Thank you for coming on to talk with us, Dabi.”

“Sure, thanks for having me.”

“For those who missed it, you can listen to the interview with Dabi on our website at—”

Touya clicked the red ‘end call’ button and slid his phone across the desk. He slumped in his chair, head hanging back, eyes closed.

Gentle footsteps padded up behind him, then hands slid over his chest on either side of his neck. The hero leaned his head back, opening his eyes to see the human incarnate of a warm sunrise smiling softly down at him.

“Sounded like it went well,” Keigo hummed. He trailed his hands up to scratch into Touya’s messy bedhead, making his blue eyes flutter.

“We’ll see in about five minutes,” he mumbled.

“How many more interviews do you have?”

“Four.”

Keigo sucked air through his teeth. He brushed the bangs away from Touya’s forehead and gave it a kiss. “How about I make you a drink?”

“My pantry’s pretty bare. I don’t think you’ll find much of anything.”

“Then I’ll go to the store and pick up a few things. Sound good?”

Touya gave a small smile. “You really don’t have to stay.”

“Hush. I’d like to stay until tonight, at least, unless you’re sick of me already.”

The hero took one of Keigo’s hands and gently kissed over his knuckles. “Not even a little.”

Keigo beamed, bright and shining as his wings flapped a little. And if Touya’s heart could burst from affection and cuteness alone, then that surely would’ve been his last day on earth.

The blond plucked a small feather from his wing and stuck it behind Touya’s ear before leaning down to peck his lips. “I’ll be back in a bit, hero.”

Touya nodded as a blush tinted his cheeks and Keigo went off to get ready.

And when Keigo stepped into his shoes to head out the door, Touya had to bite his tongue to stop his old habit of saying, ‘I love you, be safe.’

Once Friday had rolled around, Touya received a notice from his realtor that someone had scheduled a house showing for the next day. They asked if he’d be able to do a quick walkthrough of the property beforehand to ensure everything was still in order. He quickly agreed; it was a welcomed distraction from all the other shit going on.

“Are you sure you want me to come inside?” Keigo asked. “I could just wait out here.”

Touya laced their fingers together as he headed for the front door. “It’s fine, it won’t take long. I just need to check things out for the showing tomorrow.”

Keigo hummed, apprehension in his voice, but followed close after the hero.

Touya unlocked the door, the familiar click of the knob resonating in his core as it swung open. It was dark and cold— not unlike how it usually was back then. The lights were off and the blinds were drawn. The lack of sunlight from the dreary day didn’t help much, either. It was cleared of everything, empty like the day he’d bought it.

He walked inside and began looking around. The cleaners had done a great job; Touya couldn’t find so much as a speck of dust anywhere.

Keigo suddenly gripped his hand tighter and stepped closer, wrapping his other hand around his arm. His wings twitched behind him. “Something’s not right.”

Touya furrowed his brows and glanced down at him. “What—?”

“Touya, someone’s here.”

Before the hero could ask how he knew that, an icy chill crept down his spine. Familiar.

Terrifying.

Instinct took over when numerous shards of ice shot at them from the darkness. Touya tucked Keigo behind his back, igniting a ring of fire on the ground around them. Some of the shards managed to scratch along Touya’s skin before melting from the heat.

“I’m surprised you moved on so quickly, Touya,” a calm voice sounded. Geten stepped out from the far hallway, his hand flexing as he manipulated the water’s temperature and recalled the icy pieces. “You never were fond of change.”

Rage won out over Touya’s fear when Keigo clung to his arm.

“What are you doing here?” the hero growled.

“I heard that you had a question for me. Figured the least I could do is answer it in person.”

“A question—?”

“Was it worth it?” Geten’s icy tone, delicate but sharp, stung at the air.

The heat in Touya’s blood reached its boiling point. Flames licked at his fingertips, growing to engulf his palm before they propelled toward Geten. A wall of ice crawled up to absorb it, quickly melting and splashing on the ground. Swirling water circled Geten, the droplets turning into sharp ice shards.

“Before I answer, I pose that same question to you,” Geten spat.

Touya stepped back, nudging the blond with him. “Keigo, run—”

The ice circled faster, growing in size before pointing their sharp ends directly at the hero. “Was it fucking worth it, Touya?”

“Run!”

Touya shoved Keigo back, separating them with a large wall of blue fire. Ice sliced at Touya’s skin, piercing some of the muscle, and the shards that had shot after Keigo melted in the flames. Water reformed, tugging the pieces out from the hero’s body to reshape and aim for him again as he grunted.

“Was it worth it to build me up? To make me believe that you cared about how I felt about heroes?”

Touya growled, dodging to the ground and behind a half-wall. He winced as he pulled out his phone to send a quick message—

119 — 33.6° N, 130.5° E

Larger ice picks broke through the wall’s plaster, grazing parts of Touya’s back. He coughed from the debris in the air and jumped away, running to the other side of the room as Geten continued shouting at him.

“Was it worth it to make all those empty promises to me about change? Only to cast me aside when I finally decided enough was enough?”

Flames exploded from Touya’s shoulder, rolling down his arm and growing larger before bursting toward the villain in a wide spray. Geten had to duck behind a wall to avoid the powerful blast.

Touya turned around with a heavy breath, eyes frantically scanning for Keigo.

“Kei— hurgh!”

A large, sharp pillar of ice stabbed into the hero’s shoulder from behind. Touya cried out, falling to one of his knees. He reached to grip the protruding ice and start melting it when he was knocked to the ground by a firm boot. Geten stepped square in the middle of his back.

“Well, now I’m making the changes we need to see,” Geten hissed. “I’m doing in a few weeks what you’d promised to help me with for years.”

“Change takes time,” Touya grunted, turning his head to glare at the villain. “I was doing what I could, but in order to go through the right avenues and do it properly, you have to be patient—”

“I WAS patient!” Geten shouted. He twisted his boot further into the muscle, forcing a weak gasp from Touya’s chest. “You just didn’t care. You never cared. You just wanted to shut me up and hope it was only a phase, didn’t you?”

“That’s not—”

“So who needs heroes now? Not me— and I’ll start by getting rid of the one hero who could’ve easily stopped all of this from happening.”

Geten recalled all of the ice and water he’d been using, letting it swirl in front of his chest as it grew into one huge mass. Touya gathered flames on his arms and legs, but that didn’t deter the villain from digging the heavy, pointed end of the ice between his shoulder blades.

“And to answer your silly little question,” Geten sneered, twisting the sharp ice to slowly break through Touya’s shirt and skin, “yes, it was fucking worth it, baby.”

Touya squeezed his eyes shut as the flames exploded around him, but the crackling of his fire wasn’t the sound that reached his ears.

Dozens of sharp, red objects whipped through the air around them. Some broke through the fire and burned instantly. Others pierced into the mass of ice, shattering it into hundreds of little pieces. And the rest pummeled into Geten, knocking him off of Touya and pinning him to the wall through his clothes.

It took Touya a second to realize what had happened. But once he looked up, seeing Keigo in front of his protective fire wall with the tips of his smaller wings singed and burning, he understood.

He jumped up and launched for Geten, gripping the front of the villain’s shirt collar with his uninjured arm to hold him against the wall.

“You fucker,” Touya growled, flames roaring on his shoulder. “How dare you try to blame me for the choices you made?”

“I was doing it for both of us!” Geten snapped. “Don’t act like you weren’t unhappy with the bullshit heroes pull, either!”

“Nothing is perfect. Nothing will ever be perfect,” Touya hissed. “There will always be imbalances and gray areas. Change can’t happen overnight!”

Geten glared, a raging snowstorm swirling angrily in his cold eyes as he grinned up at him. “Oh, but it can.”

“Touya!” Keigo called out.

The hero glanced over his shoulder. A massive structure of ice had formed between them. Though it had been aimed at Touya, it quickly turned to point at Keigo when he’d yelled.

Geten kicked Touya back at the same time he sent the ice toward Keigo.

Keigo shielded himself with his wings. Touya shot flames to try to melt it. And glass shattered behind them, spilling onto the ground as Geten was tackled.

“Hello, old friend,” Tenko’s raspy voice sounded.

The ice that hadn’t managed to be melted in time simply fell to the ground, cracking in large chunks when its manipulator was disarmed. Tenko gripped a hand around the back of Geten’s neck, one finger raised in the air.

“Careful now. I trust you remember what happens when all of my fingers touch something?”

“You—?!” Geten growled.

The front door was kicked open, nearly falling off its hinges as police and other heroes rushed inside. Police quickly took in the scene, surrounding Geten before snapping quirk-nullifying handcuffs on his wrists.

Touya breathed heavily, wide eyes finally landing on Keigo. He scrambled over the ground until he was sat next to a mass of burnt and broken feathers.

“Keigo?” he asked tentatively. The smaller wings fell away to tuck against Keigo’s back and he slowly sat up.

“Touya, are you okay?” Keigo gasped. He reached out to place his hands on the hero’s chest and arms, carefully running his fingers over him.

“I’m okay, I’ll be fine—”

“Y-Your shoulder, your back—”

“I’ll get a healer, baby, it’s alright—”

Keigo buried his face into Touya’s chest, finally taking a deeper breath when the hero wrapped his good arm around him. A heavy sob shook his shoulders, his body trembling from adrenaline. “I-I didn’t know what t-to do— I couldn’t j-just run and leave you here with him alone—”

“Shhh,” Touya soothed through his own quieting breaths. He sat up to lean back against the wall, pulling Keigo into his lap. The blond curled in on himself as he cried into Touya’s chest, drooping his wings to rest on the floor.

Heroes scouted through the house and yard to clear the perimeter while police confined Geten in one of their cars. Footsteps came and went through the open door beside them. Someone would stop by every few minutes to glance down at Touya, who would smile and shake his head, and they’d nod before continuing their task.

Keigo eventually stopped crying and shaking, though his tight grip on Touya’s shirt remained steady. The hero petted through tousled blond locks.

“All clear, Dabi,” Himiko stepped in to say. She looked at Touya. “The healer’s on-site now, too.”

“Send them in, please,” the hero muttered. Himiko nodded and playfully patted Touya’s head before leaving again, and he nuzzled his nose into Keigo’s hair. “Are you hurt at all, Kei?”

“No…”

Touya eyed his wings. “Your feathers?”

Keigo rustled and shook out his wings. They were half of their original size; burnt and crushed feathers fell free, floating uselessly to the ground. “Doesn’t hurt.”

Touya watched the darkened feathers disintegrate into piles of ash as they touched the floor. His heart ached. He knew he didn’t do it to Keigo directly, but it was still his flames that had destroyed them. His wings tucked against his back again and Touya gently petted over them.

“I’m sorry.”

Keigo shook his head. “Don’t be. They’ll grow back.”

He finally lifted his head and looked into Touya’s eyes. His own golden eyes were duller, surrounded by an irritated, red sclera— but they still made the hero smile warmly.

“You scared me,” Keigo scolded. Touya blinked before the blond continued. “You could’ve gotten him off of you easily, but you were just gonna let him stab you?”

Touya opened his mouth to retaliate, then closed it for a few moments before opening it again. “I… I knew help was coming, I knew we’d get a healer… I knew I was the one he was after, so as long as I kept him focused on me… I hoped he wouldn’t go after you.”

“So you would’ve just been okay with getting impaled?”

He chuckled weakly. “I’ve had so much worse happen to me. It’s part of being a hero. And if it would’ve kept you safe… then yes. I’d get impaled a thousand times over if it meant no one would ever hurt a single hair on your head.”

Keigo frowned. Though he wanted to be upset, it seemed that he couldn’t bring himself to stay that way. He leaned forward and crashed their lips together in a heated kiss.

After a few moments, a voice sounded with a quiet, “Ahem.”

Keigo jumped and pulled back, his wings fluffing up. Touya glanced up to the healer.

“While I applaud your natural instinct to protect others,” she said with a sigh, “please be less dependent on us healers, Dabi. We’re very tired.”

Touya laughed. “Aren’t we all?”

She rolled her eyes as she set down her medical bag. The hero patted Keigo’s back for him to get up.

As they both stood, Himiko popped back inside. “Keigo, are you alright to answer some questions?”

“Oh, sure,” he said, but glanced up to Touya.

“Go ahead, I’ll be out in a few minutes. I’m sure they’ll want a chance to chew me out, too.”

Keigo squeezed his hand with a nod, gave him a quick peck on the lips, then followed Himiko outside to meet with the police.

The healer cut off Touya’s shirt with a hum. “He’s a strong one.”

Touya chuckled, hissing when she started running her fingers over all of his wounds. Though he had a feeling she was talking about Geten, his heart immediately thought of Keigo.

“Yeah,” he mumbled. “Yeah, he is.”

As soon as they got back to Touya’s apartment, the hero was on Keigo in an instant. He had one-and-a-half working shoulders, but he didn’t care. The scare earlier today of Keigo possibly getting hurt or worse was enough for him to say fuck the pain.

Touya was laid back on his bed— finally actually set up on its frame— with Keigo laying on top of him. The blond was subtly grinding his cock on Touya’s stomach, while he was two fingers deep inside of Keigo. Their lips were slick and swollen from their mouths constantly being pressed together in heated, borderline desperate kisses.

Keigo turned his head to moan breathlessly, smaller wings quivering, brows furrowed over his clenched-shut eyes.

“Touya—” he begged beautifully. “I can’t— I-I can’t wait anymore, please—”

The tip of Touya’s cock bounced off of his knuckles as he pulled his fingers out. “Alright, dove, alright—”

Keigo whined at the pet name. He slid himself backward, nudging Touya’s cock at his entrance.

“W-Wait, wait, lube—” Touya panted. He quickly poured some lubricant onto his hand and spread it all over his length, the lewd, slick sound reaching their ears. His hand propped himself up from the base as he positioned himself for Keigo again.

Keigo pushed back, moans and whimpers spilling from his lips like a prayer as he took Touya. Inch after inch, piercing after piercing, he took it all and he did so with a blissful expression on his face.

The hero groaned, eyes fluttering shut. His hands gripped either side of firm hips with a scorching desire as Keigo sat fully flush over his lap.

“Fuck, baby—” Touya gasped.

Keigo rocked his hips. His cock was trapped between their stomachs and the friction was unreal. He leaned up to kiss and nip hungrily at Touya’s jaw, groaning when the hero lifted his head to connect their lips once again.

The blond’s moans tasted like sin on Touya’s tongue. Touya wanted more, he wanted it all; he never wanted any of this to fucking stop.

Keigo lifted himself before crashing back down on Touya’s cock with a cry. His hand slipped on the hero’s sweat-slicked chest and accidentally pressed into his sore shoulder.

“Fuck—!” Touya hissed.

Keigo scrambled to pull his arm back. “Shit, s-sorry—”

“Ngh— S’fine, it’s okay—”

Touya threaded his fingers through tousled blond locks and pulled him back to his lips with a moan. Keigo firmly planted his hands on the bed on either side of the hero’s chest, then started to roll his hips in steady thrusts.

The glide was smooth, and before long, Keigo was a shuddering mess. His wings flapped uselessly with the particularly deep thrusts as he sang, and sang, and sang.

A whimper fell past Touya’s lips as he cupped Keigo’s cheek.

“You’re beautiful, Keigo—” he panted, placing kisses on his forehead. “God, you’re so fucking perfect, my little dove—”

Keigo cried out, tears clinging to his lashes. He raised himself on his knees and arched his back enough to snake his hand down to his cock.

“Touya—” he moaned. His hand started stroking himself, hard and desperate.

The hero buried his nose into Keigo’s neck as he moved his hands to grip under either side of his ass. He thrusted up into him, pulling whine after delicious whine from the blond. His tongue tasted salt from Keigo’s bobbing Adam’s apple.

Touya exhaled harshly from his nostrils. “Kei, I’m close—”

“Me too, a-ah—!”

Touya rolled his hips a few more times before grunting, spilling into Keigo with a broken gasp. Keigo’s head tilted up, neck stretching as he came with a lovely whimper, painting Touya’s stomach with his release.

Keigo fell onto him, their heavy breaths mixing in the hot air around them. He nudged his nose under Touya’s chin and his tiny wings spread over them on the bed.

Touya wrapped his arms around Keigo, injured shoulder be damned, and held him in an all-encompassing hug.

“I love you,” he muttered. He felt the slight twitch of the blond’s smile on his neck.

“I love you, too.”

Touya sighed, squeezing him tighter as tears stung at his eyes. His heart felt like it was going to burst; he was surrounded by so much warmth, warmth, warmth. More than he could ever make with his quirk. More gentle, more precious.

Life-changing.

“Will you run away with me?” Touya whispered.

Keigo tilted his head to glance up at him. “What…?”

Touya ran his fingers through blond hair as tears silently fell down his cheeks. “Run away with me, Keigo… I’ll take you anywhere you want to go.”

“Touya…”

“We can get a house in the middle of nowhere. We can get a dog or a cat. Fuck, we can get both if that’s what you’d want. We can open a little cafe on the beach. I’ll teach you to fly. Anything you want, you name it—”

Keigo shut him up with a kiss, holding his damp cheeks and running his thumbs over the trails of tears. He pressed their foreheads together when their lips parted, simmering gold dripping into blazing turquoise.

“I don’t need any of that… I’ve said it before— as long as I’m with you, I’ll be happy.”

“I don’t—” Touya swallowed hard with a deflating sigh. “I just don’t want to lose you… I don’t want you to get hurt because of me, I don’t want you to worry because of me…”

Keigo smiled softly. “I’ll worry about you regardless, whether you’re fighting ten villains or just crossing the street.”

The hero laughed under his breath, gently closing his eyes when Keigo kissed between them.

“I promise you, I’m here to stay.” He moved down to kiss Touya’s nose. “You won’t lose me.” He moved lower still, brushing their lips together as he sought out Touya’s gaze. “Okay?”

Touya hesitated before nodding. He tilted his head up to close the distance, but Keigo pulled back.

“Say it.”

Touya blinked. Then Keigo cocked his head with a warm smile, spreading through to the hero’s core like honey; seeping slowly and filling in all of the gaps and cracks. And Touya had never been more certain of the words in his life,

“I won’t lose you.”

Keigo kissed him firmly, lovingly, and Touya knew he was finally out of the cold for good.

“I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say we’re glad you weren’t hurt worse last week, Dabi.”

Touya chuckled, adjusting to hold the phone to his ear with his good shoulder. “Thank you, I appreciate it.”

“What news have you heard about Iceman since your encounter?”

“He’s being detained in Tartarus for the time being. His trial is pending, but given his crimes, it’s unlikely that Iceman will be offered bail or given any sentence other than life.”

“I hope you’ll excuse my prying, but we’re all so curious— who was the other person with you that day?”

Touya glanced at Keigo, who smiled with a little nod of his head. He grinned. “It was my boyfriend, Keigo.”

“Is he a new hero on the scene?”

“No, but he’s a hero to me. He saved me. I doubt I’d still be in one piece if it weren’t for him.”

“Aww, how sweet! Well, we hope you have a speedy recovery, so you can be back on the streets protecting us soon.”

Touya said his thanks and ended the call, tossing his phone onto the coffee table. He sunk further into the couch cushions, parting his legs for Keigo to scoot closer. The blond laid his cheek on Touya’s chest with a contented sigh.

“Did PR approve that response?”

“Nope,” Touya said.

Keigo tsked at him. “Naughty.”

“Screw it, everyone’s already assumed as much because of the reporters’ pictures. Confirming their suspicions about us won’t make a damn difference.”

Keigo lifted his head to meet turquoise eyes, a smile tugging at his lips.

Touya carded his fingers through blond hair. “Guess it’s official— you’re stuck with me.”

The way Keigo’s wings fluffed and fluttered made the hero’s heart ache in all the best ways. He peppered kisses over his forehead.

“Wanna have another go at a flying session?” Touya asked.

Keigo hummed in thought, then very obviously rolled his hips against the hero’s. “How about… a different kind of session?”

Touya chuckled as he gripped into his hair. “And you say I’m naughty.”

“When’s your next interview?”

Touya glanced at the clock. “In two hours.”

Keigo’s eyes lit up. “Oh, that’s plenty of time.”

The hero smirked, trailing a hand up the other’s throat to tilt up his chin. “Then show me what you have in mind, little birdie.”

Touya basked in the rays of the morning sun on his face as he walked toward the coffee shop. It was his first day back on patrol after the incident. The break had been good for him; he’d actually gotten most of his apartment unpacked, with Keigo’s help.

He pushed open the door, smiling at the familiar jingle of the bell. It alerted the baristas and other customers, some of which turned to look at him. Touya raised a hand in greeting, though his eyes landed on Keigo.

A few feathers were off handing out orders while the blond himself was busy making a drink behind the counter.

“Kei, your boyfriend’s here!” a barista sang.

Keigo immediately whipped his head around, a bright smile adorning his face. “Dabi!”

Touya walked over to the counter, muttering a hushed, “Morning, baby.”

“Is it still morning?” Keigo groaned. “God, we’ve been so swamped, I’ve barely had time to take a breath.”

“Think you have time to squeeze in a Chai tea?”

“I’m on it,” he grinned.

Touya paid for his drink and stood in the waiting area. A few people gave him their condolences about Iceman and well wishes for his injury. He thanked them with a bow of his head.

“Dabi,” Keigo called out.

Touya chuckled as he stepped in front of the pickup bar. “What, no feather delivery service for me?”

“I had to make sure you’d tip your hardworking barista,” the blond said. He leaned over the counter, eyes lidding with a suggestive look.

The hero leaned over to brush their noses together, and when Keigo spotted a few people staring, he brought his wings around them in a privacy curtain. Touya kissed him, his heart soaring when he felt the tug of Keigo’s smile against his lips.

When he pulled away, Keigo’s cheeks were tinted pink, irises dripping with adoration.

“I love you. Be safe today, okay?” the blond whispered.

Touya took a breath through his nose, his lungs swirling with the smells of coffee, tea, and Keigo. He tilted his head as he gazed at the person who’d unknowingly changed his life for the better.

“I love you, too. I’ll do my best.”

Keigo gave him a final peck before leaning away, tucking his wings against his back. He took one of his small feathers and handed it to Touya.

Knowing what he knew now about Keigo’s quirk— how he could sense breaths and heartbeats through the barbs— Touya would make sure to keep it safe with him at all times. He tucked it between his shirt and hero outfit, pressed directly over his heart. The happiness and relief exuding from Keigo was palpable.

“I’ll see you at home?” the blond asked.

Touya smiled and nodded— though to him, ‘home’ wasn’t a place anymore.

“Ready?” Touya asked.

Keigo glanced over the rooftop’s edge of the Fukuoka Tower. The wind blew through his hair and he shivered a bit, taking a step back. “Did we have to come here of all places?”

Touya chuckled. “Baby, have I missed catching you even once since we started?”

The blond stepped closer to Touya still, reaching for his hand as he grumbled, “No…”

“You can do it,” he said with a gentle kiss. “I know you can.”

Keigo huffed, fluffing his wings. He stretched them out, rustling the feathers and jolting a little when the wind had already started to lift him up. His hand squeezed tight to the hero’s as he lowered himself back down. He took a deep breath and stepped onto the edge, then looked back to Touya.

“I’ll be right behind you,” he said with a smile.

Keigo gave a nod. He took a slower breath this time. His hands clenched in fists at his side, trembling and white-knuckled. His weight teetered, wings angled, eyes narrowed behind the protective visor.

Then he leaned forward—

And fell.

Touya ignited the flames under his feet and burst into the air, doing a spinning flourish before diving after Keigo.

Keigo fell freely for a few seconds, to the point where the hero started to speed up in preparation to catch him. But once Touya got closer, red wings expanded to their full length, and Keigo was immediately shot upward by a gust of wind.

“Oh, sh—” Touya grunted as he fumbled a bit in the air before righting himself. Then he hovered, mouth open in a heavy, panting grin as he watched Keigo soar.

The wings flapped, turning the blond every which way. It was clumsy and there was some stumbling, but by god, it was fucking amazing. Seeing him circle around, do a few messy spins and twirls; hearing him laugh and shout in excitement.

He couldn’t even begin to express how proud he was.

“Touya!” Keigo laughed as he aimed directly for him. The hero tried to move out of the way, but Keigo grabbed him right out of the air. Touya extinguished his flames as he was carried higher by the heavy beats of wings, a mixture of heavy breaths and laughing reaching his ears.

“See? Look at you!” Touya grinned, glancing up to the blond’s face. The expression of pure elation rewarded him, eyes as bright as the sun they were flying under.

“I’m flying, I’m fucking flying! Holy shit, Touya!”

Touya used his weight to flip them over. Keigo gasped before the hero caught him in his arms, holding him close to his chest as his fire projected them back toward the tower. He chuckled as Keigo panted, wings trembling from exertion, and he clung to Touya’s shirt.

“You did it, Keigo! I’m so fucking proud of you.”

They landed back on the tower’s roof and Keigo’s legs buckled immediately, falling to his knees. Touya chuckled breathlessly, plopping to sit next to him as they both panted.

“How’s it feel?” Touya asked.

Keigo responded by tackling the hero in a hug. They fell to lay on the concrete, and when Touya glanced at Keigo’s face, he noticed tears gathering behind the visor.

“Thank you…” Keigo choked back a sob, though his smile was the happiest Touya had ever seen. “Thank you so much…”

Touya gently took the visor off and laid it on the ground. “No, thank you. You saved me, dove. I can never thank you enough for that.”

Keigo hugged him tighter as he pressed their lips together in a desperate kiss.

And though they were high up, with a chilled breeze gnawing at their bones, Touya had never felt warmer.
