Athena goes in with Elaine and they frown when they see several reporters in front of the police station. "This is weird" Elaine mutters while Athena nods. Suddenly, the vehicle they are in is surrounded by people. Elaine calls inside and several officers come out to push the reporters back while Elaine and Athena huddle together while walking swiftly towards the entrance. "Did you seduce him? Was that your plan all along?" one reporter asks, "how long did you cheat on your husband for?" another yells while still another shouts, "is this LAPD's policy to sell out their officers to get what they want?". "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" Elaine shouts once they get inside and behind closed doors. "It appears when Caroline's dad got ahold of what had happened he released this out to the news- something Caroline had shown him prior to going and confronting Bobby" they say. Elaine tilts her head to her office and Athena follows.
Together they watch the news pour in. Caroline had paid to make Athena look like the homewrecker in this narrative, and clearly Michael had said his fair share. The reporters had been able to find articles from cases she had worked on and now her entire career was on the line. "Elaine, I didn't do anything wrong" Athena whispers. Elaine nods, "I know" she feels anger at how manipulative Caroline is, "everyone here knows Athena. You are a damn good cop and a great mother no matter what that says" she points as Michael talks about how he speculates she had been sleeping around and the child she had wasn't his. He never once mentions the DNA results, never once mentions how he had cheated on her since they had been together, nor how the Court had ruled against his accusations. They flip through several channel and see different things all relating to this case. Athena sees the photos of Bobby's award night brought up once more as the speculations begin again and they are compared to photos captured of Bobby with Caroline that night. Athena actually laughs as some reporters are able to interview some of the prior people she had arrested. They didn't seem to be aware of the current news, to which she was grateful for as they could have spun this to their advantage, as they scoffed at the question. She stopped at one interview, "don't get me wrong, she is hot as hell but she would never cross that line- trust me, I know the type" she frowns as it is clear the reporter is biased and trying to get a different answer frustrating the man, "look, I told you already. If presented with the opportunity I would have jumped her bones but she would never do it. She did everything by the book- even in interrogation. If she hadn't maybe I would have gotten off on a technicality". Athena looks over at Elaine, "well I guess that is something" she shrugs.
Elaine nods while she grimaces. "I hate to have to do this but-" Athena sighs having a feeling after watching everything, "you are going to have to suspend me while this is under investigation right?" she asks and Elaine nods. "Alright" she closes her eyes as the frustration sweeps over her. "IS ATHENA CARTER PRESENT?" she hears someone yell out. Elaine holds her hand up as she goes to investigate. The gentleman comes back with Elaine and has Athena sign for the package. "What is it?" Elaine asks while Athena frowns looking through the documents, "Caroline's father just had me served. He is suing me for defamation of character as well as emotional damages on behalf of his daughter" she shakes her head. "Once we get through all of the evidence collected we will be able to fight this Athena" Elaine states. Athena nods, "can I still stay with Bobby or will I have to stay away from him during all of this?" she asks. Elaine chuckles, "do you really think that man is going to let you go through this on your own?" and for the first time Athena cracks a smile thinking about Bobby's reaction if she stated she was moving out because of all this.
"Call Bobby, ask him to send one of the boys to get you" Elaine orders. "Why not him?" Athena frowns, "because if the media sees him it might be too hard for us to manage" Elaine says and Athena nods, "oh and tell them to get you from the back entrance" Elaine orders. As Athena waits for her ride Elaine bites her lip, "we will get you back to work as soon as possible" she says. "Well, I said I wanted a change" Athena thinks about when she accepted this job. Buck ends up picking Athena up and driving her back and she is startled to see people also swarming Bobby's childhood home. Chimney and Rick come out to ensure their safety as they get back inside and before she can blink she is wrapped in familiar arms, "I am so sorry they are doing this to you" Bobby whispers. "It's okay-" she starts to say but he pulls back, "it is not okay. You are damn good at your job and they are making you sound cheap" he states and she can't help her smile. "Bobby, either way, once people found out about us the media was sure to get involved" she says quietly, "I trust my work and I trust Elaine, we will get through this".
"Mommy, Daddy and I made dinner" Harry comes out stating proudly. "You did?" she asks, "will you show me? " she questions and he nods taking her hand. They go into the kitchen where the table is set for their small family and she frowns when she sees two additional settings, "Eddie and Shannon wanted to come by to show their support if that's okay" Bobby explains and she nods. "Daddy grilled steaks" he points, "and I made the salad" he says. Athena grins as he continues, "but we both made the mashed potatoes" he says. "Everything looks amazing" and she means it with her whole heart. She finds herself squeezing Bobby's hand with how quickly and easily he fit Harry into his life. Athena jumps when she hears Shannon call out, "how could you not have told us sooner?" as she runs over and hugs Athena tightly. "Shannon- ahhh" Athena cries as she feels pressure against her wound and Bobby is tearing Athena backwards. "I'm sorry" Shannon gasps feeling terrible. "It's okay" Athena soothes but Bobby growls, "how is it okay?" as Eddie wraps an arm around Shannon. "Bobby" Athena turns in his arm, "it was an accident you know Shannon would never intentionally hurt me" she says, her hand pressed against his chest, "besides- she wasn't here, she couldn't possibly know". Bobby suddenly looks behind him, "What are you doing?" Eddie asks. "Seeing if my girlfriend is going to have me dragged out of here when I least expect it" he teases as she rolls her eyes. "Buck did it to save you, I will not apologize" she states, "but you should" she reprimands. Bobby bites his lip before looking at Eddie and Shannon, "I'm sorry" he says meekly, "I didn't mean to imply that you would ever intentionally hurt her" he says.
"It's okay" Shannon is quick to say, "I'd be worried if you weren't so protective" she laughs. "Let's go eat" Athena offers up and they agree. They have a good time joking and laughing. As the meal winds down Athena suggests that Harry go watch his favorite tv show which he is more than excited to do. When she gets back Shannon dives right in, "what are you guys going to do?" she asks. "Well I am currently on leave from my job" she informs everyone. "What?" Bobby is shocked, "I found out at the station and didn't have a chance to tell you sooner" she apologizes, "it's just while they get all the evidence together. I have done nothing wrong" Athena states. "If you need character witnesses Shannon and I are both more than willing" Eddie offers as the boys and Maddie jumps in too, "any of us would speak up for you Athena" she says softly. "Thanks," Athena says, "honestly, it means a lot. I am pretty sure that once Michael wakes up he will be more than willing to retract his statements" she says. "Well we stand behind you" they reiterate and Athena allows their love to wash over her, soothing her fears. That night she falls asleep wrapped in Bobby's arms- their love making postponed due to her injury but she has no doubt that this is where she always belonged.

It had been a rough time. Caroline had woken up and was charged for her crimes against Bobby, Athena as well as the actress who was on the list of auditioners and Bobby's agent. She and her dad had chosen to pursue their legal case as they felt with Michael's statement and the court of public opinion they would win. Michael had quickly withdrawn his statements when the public records of his and Athena's divorce came to light. Athena was impressed with how Bobby's fans had come to her defense. They were finding articles of her work and spreading the news while countering evidence that Caroline had presented about Athena being a homewrecker. The fans were the ones that posted the open records of her divorce proceedings and Michael came under fire for his false statements as the Court had cleared Athena of any cheating. Michael was also roasted for being unwilling to take accountability as Harry's biological father.
Athena and Bobby had to homeschool Harry as school was back in session and the media was loving even if they got a glimpse here or there of their son. What was most surprising was when Marcy had come forward. She gave a very public apology and discussed Caroline's backstabbing ways. She acknowledged it wasn't right what she had done to Bobby and that she wasn't going to sit back while this woman tried to destroy him. Bobby released a statement about his and Athena's relationship publicly as many questions arose to why she was still staying with him after his stalker was caught.
Athena was most surprised at Court. She had been cleared internally and they were able to submit the evidence she had collected while investigating the case as their evidence in the suit Caroline's father had filed. Caroline rolled her eyes as Athena's attorney discussed how Caroline had access, presenting photos and schedules- she even scoffed when video evidence was presented of her leaving the last letter on Bobby's doorstep was provided. What made her go pale was when the voice recording that Athena had gotten while confronting her in the kitchen was submitted. Athena felt her heart plummet when the defense was able to get that evidence stricken, stating that although the police department had allowed it as evidence, there couldn't be true chain of command followed for the evidence. She was confused when her lawyer smiles but she waited as they asked for another recording to be submitted, this time a visual recording. The attorney had an expert testify to the video's authenticity and the defense had no problem. The courtroom and Caroline's father was stunned as they watched the events of that fateful afternoon play out, hearing Caroline's cold and calculating voice echo throughout the court room before spiraling into that of someone who was emotionally imbalanced while Athena tried in vain to de-escalate the situation. Athena turned to Bobby, "how long do you keep your recordings?" she asks quietly. Bobby chuckles lowly, "don't worry baby, our private moments are just that- private" he states making her frown. "So you still have them?" she clarifies to which he only winks at her making her cheeks flame.
When the Judge made their ruling in favor of Athena she finally felt the weight of the world off her shoulders. She arose swiftly before thanking her lawyer and turning into Bobby's strong arms. "I told you everything was going to be okay baby" he whispers in her ear and she can't help when she kisses him quickly. As they turn to leave Bobby steps in front of her as Caroline's father approaches. "I just wanted to apologize" he says, "she's my baby girl, I wanted to believe her. I hadn't seen that video before, I will make sure she gets the help that she needs". Bobby nods while Athena thanks him for his apology. When they leave the courthouse they are once again bombarded with reporters but Bobby uses his body to shield Athena as the boys hold the reporters at bay. "Ready to go home?" Bobby questions and Athena nods grateful to be able to put this behind her. "Bobby?" Athena questions in the car. "Yes love?" he responds. "I don't like the idea that there is video of us in our private moment" she says softly. Bobby smiles and nods, "okay my love- I will get rid of them" he says. Athena turns to look at him, "really?" she questions. Bobby raises the partition of the vehicle, "well, for a price" he nearly growls. Bobby clinks his glass trying to get the attention of the room full of their friends, family and Athena's colleagues. "I would like to make a toast" he calls out. The room finally settles down and Athena can't help but beam up at him. "I would like to toast my girlfriend, your Captain's, success at leading her own investigations team within the LAPD" and several people shout. Athena had tried to return to her job as a field Sergeant but she had become too recognizable due to her relationship with Bobby, making it impossible for her to do her job. She had taken the Captain exam when she had been married to Michael but they had no available positions despite her passing with flying colors. Bobby can't help how he smiles at Athena. If someone told him that a year and a half ago he would meet the woman he could not live without he probably would have punched them for daring to make fun of him. However, that was when Athena and Harry had stumbled on set and changed the course of his life forever. He nods at his son, "Mom" Harry asks in a serious tone as he adjusts his tie, "Dad would like to ask you an important question that impacts our family" he says. Athena stands and approached the man that captured her heart, "What is it my love?" she asks feeling worried. Bobby smiles as he takes her outstretched hand in his before kneeling, "Athena my love. You have made my life infinitely better than I could have ever hoped or dreamed" he starts. "Bobby" she gasps as he pulls out the beautiful white gold engagement ring. Her eyes widen seeing the large carat that glimmers back at her as it is surrounded by smaller diamonds, "I was so alone before I met you and Harry. You both showed me what is was to truly be apart of a family. I would love nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with you as we grow our family, will you do me the honor of marrying me, becoming my wife and the honor of officially becoming Harry's dad?" he asks in front of all their family and friends. Athena can't help as the tears spill over, "yes Bobby" she somehow manages to say before he is on his feet, slipping the ring on her finger and wiping her tears away. "She said YES" Harry yells before the room erupts in cheering and applause.

Later that night
Athena giggles as she exits the bathroom and Bobby is laying on the bed completely naked waiting for her . Bobby props himself up eyeing her, "it appears my fiancée is in much too many clothes" he teases seeing her in her slip.
