There were rumours all over Gotham of the ‘prince’ crashing out. There were pictures of Bruce Wayne in the news in which he was waving away the paparazzi as he walked out of a drug store carrying an armful of painkillers at three in the morning; wandering around in Crime Alley with a dime bag and a half-empty bottle of whiskey more expensive than most people could even dream about—and that same image came up in the news next to one of him in a gurney, bruises all over his face and body, unconscious. Some people thought it was understandable, considering one of his adopted kids had just gone missing. Others thought it was a disgrace for a man to be acting like this when the police were doing everything in their power to bring the kid back...
After Jason's death, Bruce is a mess. He's barely eating, barely sleeping, and giving into vices he'd so far avoided. When a twenty-something kid from the streets sees him and Superman together, he starts to wonder... and does what he can to earn himself a payday.

Today, Clark had already done every normal and absurd solution he could think of and was ready to completely give up. He turns off almost every piece of technology in the cave, except for a small DVD player that he’d brought for background noise. Thank goodness he did, because the small, solar-powered, low-wattage player provided just the right environment for a weak message from whatever channel was reaching out to Clark—reaching out to Superman.
The words flashed on screen, blurry at first, then came into focus. After reading them, Clark rubs his eyes.He was convinced he had lost his mind.

Bruce and Clark haven't spoken in years, an argument has left the two men as strangers for the better part of a decade. This all changes when Superman comes barreling into Gotham unannounced, requesting a lunch date with Bruce. For whatever reason, Bruce complies. It goes terribly, and Bruce almost leaves before Clark stops him, grabbing him by the shoulder, and tells him something. Something that will change the lives of every person on Earth as they know it.
