Summary
They’d done the checks, all had been normal, just another day, just another flight. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Not like this.
When a test flight goes catastrophically wrong, Jake and Bradley are forced to face what happens when the person you love is slipping away - piece by piece - and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

Summary
Jake fumbled the ball in his hand as he looked up to meet the passing gaze of his second stranger for the evening. Every bit of air rushed out of the room. His heartbeat roared loud in his ears. The belated, inordinately loud thunk from the ball hitting the table made him flinch, but he was grateful for the distraction it provided to tear his gaze away from dark, soulful eyes and outdated moustaches.
or... when Bradley and Jake’s best friends start dating it just makes sense that they’d also start hanging out, that's all there is to it

Summary
Bradley was excited that Jake made it back from the mission he had been on, even if he was a little worse for wear. It's been six years since they started dating, and he figured it was time for Jake to meet his uncles at a dinner they were hosting for some new detachment Mav had been working with. As well as let Jake know who his uncles are so he could finally propose.
Too bad Jake already had plans with his CO and squad for the evening.

Summary
Bradley speaks up, “Hang-”
Jake cuts him off, shaking his head.
“It’s not Nat,” he rasps out. “I’ve always loved her like a sister.”
“It’s not Nat,” he repeats and laughs emptily before looking back down. His eyes are still wet— whether from the hysterical laughing fit he just had or his own despair, he’s not too sure of it.
“It’s you, you fucking asshole,” he spits out.
