“Have you ever wondered what death felt like?” Tommy tilted his head slightly as he turned his head to look at Dream, Dream let out a low growl “Tommy. It’s not your time.” he says, his eyes seeming to glow, “Sorry Dream.” He hums before lifting himself up.
Tommy feels hot wind engulf him as he watches Dream's hand just barely grasp his shirt before the fabric slips between his fingers.
His name echoed the cavern bouncing off the walls as a blinding flash erupts from above him before he was engulfed by the searing hot magma.

Summary
After being discovered as the Sun Arcana, Tommy didn't really have a choice in returning back to the Empire. He doesn't want to be there, and he tries to make his displeasure known- however, his new family seems set on forcing him to play house. That's fine- he can handle it. He can work it out. He can play by their rules and learn a bunch of court manners he'll never use. He'll wait it out, he'd take the first opportunity for escape.
What is not fine, however, is when it becomes a routine- when he gets used to it. Because there's only so much attention he could reject before a bigger, more pathetic side of him starts yearning for care and validation.
In the end, he has a choice- his freedom or his new "family." The choice is obvious. Or it should be.

All while they're trying to plan his pseudo-father's great, villainous return to the public eye.
What's a charged creeper hybrid and his collection of friends and family meant to do under these circumstances?
