Summary
Steve's an omega desperately looking for someone to love and a mate who would simply love him in return. But he finds himself unlucky in love with all the wrong people. People who keep leaving him high and dry when someone better comes along.
After yet another failed attempt at sparking a romantic match with his childhood secret crush and the beta he's been throwing himself at all summer, Steve decides there must be something fundamentally wrong with him. Then in walks Eddie 'The Freak' Munson. An older alpha that gets the omega's heart racing for some reason, making him want to bare his throat to the handsome boy.
Steve makes the impulsive decision to get into a 'friends with benefits' situation with Eddie. But it confuses the omega to no end when he keeps acting like an alpha courting his omega.

Summary
A month ago Steve had decided at the last second that he just couldn’t leave his baby brother out of his sight. Eddie understood, he got it. So he’d agreed to swap out. He went with Robin and Nancy to the Creel house. He’d thrown molotov’s harder than anything he’d thrown before, but it hadn’t mattered. Vecna had crashed through the attic window and disappeared when they went down to check.
The trudge back to the trailer had been tense and twitchy, only broken when they’d heard Dustin screaming through the treeline.
That sound was the most terrifying thing he’d ever heard because he knew that Steve would never have let Dustin get hurt.
So if Dustin was hurt, it could only mean that something had happened to Steve.
A month later something creeps up on Eddie while he's sleeping.

Summary
"Cool. Okay, well, sorry," Eddie mumbles into the tense air before disappearing back into the guest room. Steve wishes he would have at least slammed the door shut behind him, shown Steve just exactly how he felt, but all he could hear was the soft click of the lock going into place.
Steve's heart shatters and he feels the connection go right along with it.
or; the one where steve is pining over eddie dangerously, enough to make his entire world burn.

Summary
The merman doesn't make a sound, but as Eddie cuts away more and more of the net, he seems to relax a tiny bit. Those sharp eyes never leave Eddie's though.
"My name's Eddie. Do you have a name?"
No reply.
"Your scales are…really pretty," Eddie continues. "I bet they shine in the sun."
At that, a small noise escapes the merman, a quiet trill.
"Oh? You like compliments, huh?" Eddie smiles. "So you can understand me."
"Some," the merman croaks. Weakly, he holds up a hand, brings his thumb and forefinger less than an inch apart, indicating small.

To most people, merfolk are dangerous beasts, evil, hunted down and their scales sold for high prices. To Eddie, they're kind and fascinating creatures from his uncle's old stories, and something he's longed to see for years.
When Captain Creel drags a captured merman on board Eddie's ship, he gets his wish.
Steve is the most beautiful thing he's ever seen, and Eddie's going to free him or die trying.
