Summary
“Oh, come on,” Will says, struggling to keep his voice neutral in a different way. His mouth is dry, and he hates Mike for it even more. “Is this what it’s going to be like this summer?”
Mike looks back at him, considering, lips pursed in an effort to shut down the smirk that Will knows is fighting to break free. Will doesn’t dare to let his gaze catch there, focusing instead on holding Mike’s stare, because this, too, is a game.
Five years into a rivalry with bittersweet origins, the only thing Mike and Will want is to beat each other at this summer’s camp counselor competition. But being back at camp is dredging up old memories, and as Mike and Will lose momentum and gain something else entirely, it becomes increasingly clear that one summer can change everything.

Vecna is defeated and the party is preparing for final exams. Will has a problem, he can’t seem to relax. He’s tried pretty much everything but he can’t let go. He talks to his friends about it and they all seem to have their own ways of coping. Still nothing is working, he wishes he was like any other teenage boy, wishes his trauma wouldn't get in the way of a very natural biological function. But he just can't seem to get Vecna's visions out of his head. Enter Mike.
Mike gives Will the massage of a lifetime.

Summary
It's summer in Hawkins. It has been a year since the possession, and Will Byers is doing his best to navigate through change. While everyone else seems busy falling in love, he forces a smile, desperately trying to be normal. He tries to keep up with his friends, holding onto the childhood they seem eager to leave behind. But despite everything, a boy—confident, athletic, and surprisingly nerdy—suddenly comes into his life. Chance Lawson inadvertently becomes Will’s friend, joining the Party (?), changing the course of his fate. He carries an easy confidence, but beneath it lies a cautious, sympathetic heart that understands Will’s silence. He steps in with a gentle warmth that feels completely new, proving to Will that he doesn't have to carry the weight of the world on his own.
Then, maybe Will’s summer wouldn’t be as awful as it could’ve been.
