Summary
His jaw tenses and he fixes his sights on Minho’s date, appraising the slender man. He’s not exactly Minho’s usual type, but maybe that’s the point.
Gold bracelets tinkle as he tilts his martini back, swiping a lock of platinum blonde behind his ear. He laughs at a joke Chan can’t hear, bringing perfectly manicured fingertips over the row of glossy white squares covering his actual teeth. He looks expensive. Like the settings on a washing machine might confuse him. Like he’s never been punched in the face.
Minho leans forward, the buttons of his maroon dress shirt straining, and plucks the olive from the man’s glass. He pops it into his traitorous mouth, filling the man with giggles and hollowing out Chan’s ribcage.
After a year of self-imposed exile following his breakup with Minho, Chan reluctantly agrees to attend a birthday party on the promise that Minho won’t be there. Things do not go quite as planned, and as the intoxicating fog of alcohol thickens, Chan struggles to stay anchored in the present within a flood of old memories and the surge of emotions they bring.

He can feel it, the bond he just branded onto Minho without meaning to. It’s still raw, a newborn tether between them pulling tight from chest to chest. It hums beneath his skin, alive and relentless.
He did this. Jisung fucking did it this time for real. Less than twelve hours ago, he was so happy that he didn’t ruin everything, that he just had to go and make a practically irreversible mistake.
Minho catches his wrist, his grip strong and sure, though his hand trembles just slightly as his thumb strokes over the frantic pulse there.
“Don’t run,” Minho rasps, pleading. “Please.”

He said it with his eyes squeezed shut, so tightly that he felt the tears forming from the strain and discomfort. He was bracing for the worst.
“I’m… happy for you?” Mingi said after what felt like years. Yunho wasn’t sure how much time they had spent in silence, but it definitely felt like at least five minutes to him. He slowly opened his eyes, almost letting out a laugh at Mingi’s bewildered and still confused expression.
“It’s yours, Mingi. The pup is yours”.

He never had to plan Jisung. He just seemed to fit right in.

This Minho comes from long-sleeves in torrid weather, from sidelong glances to burn the shape of Jisung’s profile into perfect recollection. Heart-shaped smiles framing that one crooked tooth. Hours spent lazing on the bench and strolling down the busy city streets of food markets. Bruises from hands that should heal them, fear flickering in pretty doe eyes at the thought of going back home, and a bed that feels too big now.
