Furthermore, she was already asking so much of him. Asking himself to give himself up entirely, to sacrifice his very life. To ask, to want such things were so terribly selfish. She could barely recognize herself in the wake.

Summary
The rage burning within him quickly simmered, blurring into a mixture of respect and amusement. Gavin had to hand it to the man before him - he’d never seen such nerve before, not even from a fellow vampire. Vampires were predatory, but even predators knew to back off from another’s rightful kill. Yet this man before him, unquestionably human with a fastly beating heart and dulled teeth, had eyes burning with something far more animalistic than any vamp he’d ever known. There was something almost feral in its intensity, in its bloodlust - burning so brightly, it erased the typical caution found even in the predators at the top of the food chain. Not an ounce of fear was detectable in the man, despite staring directly into the bared fangs of a vampire not only far faster, but stronger, than him.
Any and all desire to rip the man’s throat out for daring to steal a meal from him vanished in an instant, replaced entirely by intrigue.
Oh, this man was fun.

Summary
Even with how entangled he’d find himself (consciously or unconsciously) in other peoples business, he didn’t altogether hate his ability. He was a scientist by nature, after all - forever wondering, forever curious - and to have a front row seat to a phenomenon so misunderstood, so unknown, so debated, was priceless.
It was his own red thread, though, that proved to be the biggest problem in his ability.
The most terrifying.
Because of all the red threads he’d ever seen, he’d never seen one like his.
He’d never seen one go all the way up into the air, entirely off of Earth altogether.

Summary
Two months after the events of the Venom movie, Venom and Eddie are living their lives peacefully in San Francisco, eating heads and writing stories. Then the Avengers come along. After a huge misunderstanding, Eddie finds himself and Venom locked up in Stark Tower. They're eventually rescued, and after a few days, the Avengers throw in the towel. After that, Eddie and Venom become sort-of-allies with the Avengers, specifically with Peter Parker on speed-dial. And then Venom's unruly, bloodthirsty kid Carnage shows up, forcing Eddie and Venom to turn to the Avengers for help.

Scruffy beard, glasses, hair in disarray. He's in a simple button-down and jeans, no place to hide any meaningful weapons, and faces away from Driver—exposes his vulnerable side, forgoes line of sight—to crouch in front of two boys who have been so silent he only now notices.
“C'mere,” the man mutters. He hoists one of them up and into his arms. The boy rests his cheek on the man's shoulder with a quiet sniffle, eyes squeezed shut. His small hands wrap around the man's nape in a death grip. He has a SpongeBob-patterned bandaid on his nose bridge.
The other boy grips onto the man's shirt hem with just as much vigor, though his eyes are wide open. He looks up at Driver with pointed eyes, clear and devastatingly full of suspicion.
They look at each other for half a moment of contemplative quiet.
Then, softly, “What floor?” Driver asks.
The elevator door closes.

Driver moves to the new apartment. Instead of Irene, his neighbor is kind teacher Ryland Grace with two twin younger brothers he's taking care of.
