Her face drawn and pale, eyes tired, as she showed him diagrams from one of her midwife books, explained that he wasn’t like regular boys. He’d always have to be careful, she’d said, stay away from other boys. He’d been mortified and strangely offended because of course Mike wouldn’t be getting a similar talking to. Why did he have to sit there and be humiliated, treated like less of a boy because of something he couldn’t control and hadn’t chosen for himself."

“George,” Paul gasps, low and like he’s shocked.
Because there’s always been a sort of separation of church and state, if you will. For years now. George is church. John is state. And ne’er the twain shall meet.

Or, George and Paul sleeping together in 1968, and the conversation that ensued, permanently changed the trajectory of the Beatles. But what happens when the (still together) Beatles decide to go on tour in 1974 and John and George have to navigate the reality of having to share Paul with each other?

The last time John had anything to say at one of these torture sessions was when he told everyone he thought he might be Jesus, so Paul’s limbic system started to flood him with anxiety before John had even opened his mouth. “I bring tidings of great joy!” John declared, flinging his arms out and nearly slapping George and Mal in the face. “I am with child!”
