The man took himself off of you, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You’ve shown me better, you’ve shown me the best.”
You felt his legs pressing into your back again. “Do you take me as a joke? If you do, then so be it. I love you, and this is how you treat me?” His now harsh words felt so foreign, so cold.
