Summary
Shane Hollander is just trying to survive NYU biochemistry, hockey practice, and the graveyard shift at 7-Eleven. He's too exhausted to notice that his new regular customer is Russian mafia, or that Ilya's interest in him goes beyond terrible coffee and cookies.
When Ilya hands him a $10,000 designer scarf and matching gloves, Shane doesn't panic. He sells them for next month's rent. Any normal person would be terrified. Instead, Shane uses the leftover money to buy a Hello Kitty watch, pastel pink, childish, utterly incongruous with the danger circling him. He wears it to his next night shift without irony or apology.
Ilya notices immediately. He is fascinated.

‘I look forward to getting to know you more, husband-to-be.’ Ilya smirks, tongue wrapping around the last word with relish, a hand coming to trace the freckles dusted across his cheeks with a surprisingly delicate touch.
Shane smacks his hand away with a snort, tampering down the blush threatening to make itself known to instead snap out a frosty retort. ‘In your dreams.’
Except all Ilya, the Prince of Rozan, has to offer is a dark smile and wandering eyes. Shane can feel them burning through his clothes, his shoulders resisting the urge to curl inwards and shield himself from Ilya’s gaze.
‘Oh, but you already are. Am I not in yours, sweet prince?’

So when the Council gave Levi an order to marry Survey Corps Captain Erwin Smith and monitor the Survey Corps' activities, Levi knew that he had to follow through. It was his duty as an Ackerman - a duty to the Founder that maintained the peace in these Walls, even if he despised it with every bit of his existence. But then he met Erwin and began to question everything he was taught to be.

Erwin, may I introduce to you Captain Levi Ackerman of the Orvud District MP.” Frieda looped her arm around his to prevent him from escaping. “And Levi, this is Captain Erwin Smith of the Survey Corps.”Levi’s eyes widened comically as he glanced at Erwin, unsure. But then Erwin was looking back at him, waiting on his move because of course, proper etiquette dictated Levi’s first move. Levi cleared his throat and extended a gloved hand. “It’s a pleasure, Captain Smith.”
Erwin was supposed to shake it, but he took it in his hand instead, and kissed the back of it with the lightest touch. “The pleasure is all mine.”
