Summary
“Goalie eyes see all” is a concept every hockey player knows.
Sometimes, a goalie sees more that anyone else realizes.Goalies are weird.
Goalies often hold a privileged status on the ice, to be protected, to be respected for their skill.
Goalies are recognized as a special set of people in the game of ice hockey, and the nature of their position and job tends to allow them leeway in their idiosyncrasies, and teams will most often humor and adapt to their goalie’s tendencies and personality.
Especially if they’re good at their job.Shane Hollander is very good at his job.
Shane Hollander has very good goalie eyes and a reputation for making good calls.
On the rare occasion that Hollander asserts himself on something with the team, they have learned to go along.
Hollander doesn’t do things without a good reason.Even dragging people out of fights.

A.K.A. a series of one-shots on how the Wallander Yank came to be.

Summary
Of all the worst times to get sick, the last bit of summer downtime before training camp could have been the best. Or the worst.
The thing was, summer downtime left too much time to think, and thinking was all Shane could do. Think and think and think on the most cutting words Rozanov had ever spat in his face. After the Olympic Games ended. After being ignored for half the summer. After a sort-of-apology he probably shouldn’t have accepted, and an invitation he definitely should have turned down.
Overthinking aside, the one thing Shane had *not* managed to overthink was the quality of the food in his refrigerator, because it seemed to slowly be souring his stomach to even the thought of food.

“Mm, you won’t,” Ilya retorts, along with kisses down Shane’s chest. “But don’t worry. I’ll send you flowers.”
Shane’s fingers go into Ilya’s hair, and Ilya hears a mumbled, “I don’t need flowers,” before a moan drowns it out.
or: Ilya and Shane sending each other flowers starts out as a joke, and then becomes like a confession.

Summary
Shane woke up nauseous. Which was no surprise.
It sat heavy and sour at the back of his throat, the kind of sickness that didn’t announce itself with drama, just a quiet certainty that today was going to be bad.Bookmarked by WritingAMenace

Summary
He winks at him in the last face off of the game and Shane feels his stomach lurch. Rozanov wins the face off, clawing back a goal for Boston.
The Metros still win 2-1, not bad at all given a couple of strong players are out sick. JJ had to leave afternoon practice yesterday after puking.
In the locker room Shane has stripped off down to his base layer, still sweating, nervous when his phone buzzes.
What’s a girl to do on a lonely night in Montreal?
Shane glances quickly around him, checking no-one is looking at his screen. They aren’t.
His heart is still racing. He takes some deep breaths as he sits, trying to calm down. But the nerves seem to be getting worse.
Then suddenly the feeling in his stomach shifts. There’s a flash of saliva to his mouth.
Oh fuck. Oh fuck.
---
Set in the timeline of ep2 of the show when Ilya texts Shane after a home game in Montreal in autumn 2011. Shane is prepared to take things further but norovirus gets in the way. After hearing from Shane Ilya makes an unexpected choice with his plans for the night. Split POV between Shane and Ilya
