Summary
Yuna, if ever asked, would claim she accidentally dropped the glass that shattered on the floor that day and stopped Grigori Rozanov from hitting his son. That she would never, of course, slam a glass to the floor on purpose and interfere with an adult man abusing his child.
Ever.
_______________
Yuna Hollander inexplicably develops a soft spot for her sons rival. In a random hallway in Los Angeles during the MHL draft in 2009. A soft spot that she works very hard on covering up over the next 8 or so years. Sometimes talking about him a little too ridiculously, or a little too much, afraid that it'll be extremely obvious if she breathes even one small compliment about him. Afraid someone will find out that she had seen something that day that brought out a fierce protectiveness in her, even if Ilya wasn't hers to protect. Shane could never know.
Ever.

Summary
“Look it’s not that hard, just go be cool for a few hours and if you get stuck just ask yourself: WWHD–-what would Henry do?”
They used to swap places all the time as kids. At school, at the playground, at practice. For fun. It had been easy then—like a quick changing of jerseys between periods. That was before the invisible fork in the road that had inexplicably parted them in their teens. It's been over a decade since they’ve done this bit. And Shane doesn’t want to do it. Not because he can’t do it but because he is so, so tired of playing clean-up crew for Henry’s fuckups.
Shane hesitates, jaw tightening. Then he slowly exhales through his nose.
“Do you. Still have. The clip-ons.” Shane grits out.---
Or: Shane is a good brother and fills in for his identical twin, Henry, during a photoshoot. Enter: Ilya Rozanov. One case of mistaken identity leads to disastrous outcomes.Bookmarked by bostonjane

Summary
“We sucked. Okay? I sucked. I’m distracted, and I played like shit, and it won’t happen again. Happy?”
Hayden looks at him like he’s grown a second head. “No? I don’t—Shane, what the hell is going on?”
Shane clenches his jaw.
“Is this about Rozanov?” Hayden asks, face rearranging into something puzzled. “He’s been gone for two weeks now. You can’t let that shit cloud your judgement.”
Chest constricting, Shane exhales sharply. “He’s been gone two weeks, and no one knows where he is.”
OR: right before summer rolls around, Ilya Rozanov disappears.

Summary
Ilya is always thinking about things. The upcoming trade deadline and how it might shake up the team. His last call with his father. Freckles.
What he is not thinking about is how sometimes cars ignore pedestrian walk signs.
And he is definitely not thinking, when as they are wheeling him towards emergency surgery, he asks them to call the one person he always feels safe with.
-
Or, pre-relationship, circa situationship, Ilya gets hit by a cab in midtown New York (embarrassing) and asks the hospital to call Shane Hollander (more embarrassing).Bookmarked by bostonjane

Summary
After insulting a suspiciously vindictive fortune teller at a street fair, Ilya Rozanov wakes up cursed with the ability to hear people’s thoughts through touch.
Which becomes a serious problem when he discovers his coworker Shane Hollander, who supposedly can’t stand him, is apparently thinking about him in extremely inappropriate ways constantly.

Summary
“I wasn’t consciously trying to…” he gestured vaguely toward the bedroom. “I got kinda freaked out.”
Rozanov hummed thoughtfully. “I know. Was… a lot.” He pressed his lips together and looked toward the floor as a heavy silence hung between them for a few seconds. “You are okay now?” he finally asked, the lightness in his tone betrayed by a tremble on the word “okay.”
