Summary
Alex Danvers learned early that on when there's no one you can talk to about your crazy train wreck of a life alcohol dulls the ache. Old habits die hard. Some nights she needs something to take the edge off. It's not a problem...until it is. After a failed mission that leads to the death of an agent and a night of heavy drinking Alex finds herself in a situation that she is ill-equipped to handle.
Note: sorry to anyone that tried to read this Feb 10-11th. I've been revising chapters 1 and 2 and things got a little wacky. As of this edit, everything is in the correct order.

The fundamental problem with evidence-based conclusions is that they are not bulletproof. In the lab, scientists do their best to control the environment for their experiment. In the real world, variables that one may not have even been aware of may change. When that happens, everything you thought you knew may prove to be wrong.
One benefit of having Supergirl on the payroll is that Lena doesn’t have to worry about sending one of her reporters off into a potentially dangerous situation. Afterall, Supergirl is bulletproof. Even if Kara isn’t comfortable admitting her identity yet, Lena Luthor can still get the story of the year without risking a single person. Right?

Her whole body had been oriented toward it, toward the fire and the fight and Fiyero's hand and the sky opening up ahead of her like a door.
And then Glinda had looked at her.
And she had come down.
Or: what if the Wizard and Glinda did convince Elphaba to stay. And what if Elphaba starts to see exactly what Glinda has been surviving, deliberately, so that Elphaba could come home safe.

Mira looked up to see his face— "Oh!" For the second time tonight, Mira was startled to see a young woman's face. The demon king wasn't a king at all. She was a demon queen. Her eyes were a soft brown, though when she stepped into the light, they reflected with a golden hue. The tiger striped patterns were on her face and neck too. She wasn't human, that was for certain.
But she didn't seem dangerous either.

Rumi gets sent two brides she didn't ask for and she can't seem to get either of them to go home.

Zoey thinks, lying back against the paper covering of the cold examination table, while trying to ignore the sensation of inorganic equipment being lodged in places they had no god-given right to be, that this is, inarguably, the least sexy way to get knocked up.
Zoey isn’t really sure how she ended up here, in all honesty.
Well, she is. She can recount the steps chronologically. How Mira and Rumi had looked so god-damned defeated. How her big, stupid mouth had opened and volunteered, initially, and then had said yes to all of their concerned interrogations as to whether or not she was sure, like, really sure, one hundred per cent sure?
And now she’s said yes so many times and so adamantly that it isn’t as though she can suddenly back track and say, surprise! I am actually no longer willing to carry the baby you have been so desperately trying for because I think it would be a really super-duper bad idea! Sorry for getting your hopes up!
Zoey agrees to be a surrogate for a married Rumira. Things get messy because she's already in love with them, has known this for years, but she might be falling in love with the baby, too
