On a good day his Uncle would tell him stories about his parents if he were tipsy and feeling sentimental, the sweet spot he stayed in before he became belligerent and hot tempered. “Pete, my brother looked at your mama look she hung the damn stars in the sky.” He’d told him once. “'My whole world', that’s what he called her.”
Sometimes, Pete will lay in bed and stare up at the ceiling, listening to the snores of his roommate as he lets himself wax poetic. The love of my life could be on this very campus. He would think, biting at his lip to keep from smiling. My whole world could be just around the corner.

Adrian shrugs, sets his clothes and glasses on the counter beside the sink, and kicks off his briefs. Self-consciousness was never a trait he'd been burdened with--among many others--and Chris admittedly sort of envies that. Especially now.
But as Adrian steps into the tub and swings the curtain closed, a weird, itchy impulse ignites in Chris' chest. "What you mentioned earlier," he finds himself saying, voice raised above the running water. "About bonding with your best friend… what'd you really mean by that?"

Because on one hand, yes, she would love someone to talk to right now, even if it was John fucking Walker, but on the other she wasn’t used to spending a lot of one on one time with people and the thought of it was almost enough to scare her away.
She could escape without saying a word, phase through the wall and into the stairwell to head back to her own room, but for a single reason that was too buried in her mind to reach, she nodded.

Now this is where the real problem started. Bob had crouched down to pick up the stupid toy, totally oblivious to the unusual cutoff his soft knitted sweater had. He then leaned forward as the offending object rolled further towards the underside of the couch, a place no one often liked to venture, and that’s when John saw it. Apparently Bob needed to invest in a fucking belt as well because as his sweater rolled up his pants dropped down the barest amount, but John saw it regardless. Would know what it was on any given day of the week.
Robert Reynolds was wearing lacy fucking panties and John Walker was going to die right where he stood.
