Summary
For a brief moment of time, the three weeks after Bishop Langstrom gifted him with the second chance, and the moment he realized why it was the punishment it was, Jud felt the happiest he had ever remembered feeling in his life. He was given the chance to be an assistant pastor, to enter a community and fill it with Christ in any way he saw fit, a privilege he was proud to shoulder.
Then he met Monsignor Wicks, and he watched all his disillusions pop around him in a fine mist.

Summary
He didn’t want to stoop to Matt’s level, always told himself that he was above that, even as his best friend tugged him down in the dirt time after time. You are the company you keep, after all, and Matt’s company made him guilty by association, ever since they were kids stealing from cookie jars and busting out windows. And maybe it wasn’t fair that Matt had all the fun, right? That he was able to languish in his hedonism, leaving Jay to pick up the pieces, smooth things over, make excuses to–sometimes literally–clean their hands.
Maybe he deserved to play in the dirt, too.

Summary
“Do you think people think it’s weird we hold hands?” Troy asks him once.
Of course Abed's thought about it. His general conclusion is that yes, people probably think it’s weird if they’re not thinking that the two of them are a couple. But he doesn’t really want to tell Troy that, in case it’ll make him stop holding his hand.
“Do you mind?” he asks tactically, instead of answering.
Troy shrugs. “Not really actually. I don’t care about any of those people.”
(Or, Abed's friendship with Troy seems entirely too all-encompassing, and he has no idea how to deal with it.)
