    Summary

Prince Ilya Rozanov likes slipping beyond the palace walls after midnight, trading his crown for the name Nikolai, a cloth merchant who drinks with blacksmiths and plays cards with vagrants. Among commoners, he is free—untitled, unguarded, unseen. On one such night, he meets Shane Hollander: disciplined, sharp-eyed, newly arrived in the capital. A card game becomes a challenge. The challenge becomes heat. By the end of the night, they choose each other without hesitation. It isn’t meant to be anything more. By morning, Shane is presented at court as the crown prince’s newly appointed personal guard. And the prince he is sworn to protect is the man who called himself Nikolai. Ilya, in turn, discovers that the stranger from the tavern is now bound to him by oath and duty. What should have ended at dawn refuses to. Despite the weight of their titles—and the scrutiny of a palace built on image, obedience, and control—they continue in secret. What begins as want deepens into something quieter, sharper, and far more dangerous. Because in Zakoria, the most scandalous thing a prince and his knight can share isn’t desire. It’s love.

    Summary

At twenty-one, Ilya Rozanov is the Soviet Union’s most perfect weapon, a soldier of the Red Machine who has spent three years locked in a silent, jagged war on the ice with Canada’s golden boy, Shane Hollander.

When the Montreal Metros claim him as a "wasted" mid-round draft pick, the rivalry transforms from a professional grudge into a desperate lifeline. On the final night of the 1988 Calgary Olympics, he risks everything, his family, his career, and his safety, to start a new life in the West. Forced into a high-stakes billet under the roof of his bitter professional rival, Ilya must navigate a world where freedom feels like a new kind of prison.

As Ilya struggles to adapt, the crumbling Soviet empire reaches across the ocean, searching for leverage to help pull him back.

OR: What if Ilya fled Russia in 1988 to play for the Montreal Metros?

“Hello,” Ilya repeats, still kind of stuck on those freckles.

    “Hi?” the man says.

    “Hi,” Ilya says—again.

Oh god, he's said hello three times now. He should literally say anything else. His name, probably. His phone number, preferably.

“Hi,” Ilya says again, because he can’t help it. “I am—”

“Are you Nick?” the man asks, and it comes out as a breathless sound.

OR: Shane gets stood up on a blind date, and Ilya comes to the rescue, and proceeds to make a series of questionable decisions.

    Summary

No one wanted him there. And definitely not in their space.

When Ilya Rozanov transfers from Boston to Montreal right after the start of the new semester, his reputation follows him straight onto campus. The hockey team knows who he is. The frat definitely knows who he is. And no one’s interested in getting close.

So when his housing falls through at the last minute, it becomes a problem no one wants to deal with.

Shane gets stuck with it, and tries to ignore his feelings.

It kinda works. For a while.

Because it’s one thing to ignore someone across the rink or in a lecture hall. It’s another to live with them. To notice things you weren’t meant to.

This isn’t just a bad roommate situation anymore.

    Summary

“You’re hesitating,” Rozanov said quietly. “Have you suddenly grown fond of me?”

Shane pressed the blade down harder in retaliation, enough to make Rozanov suck in a sharp breath.

    “Don’t flatter yourself."

Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander have been preparing for the Hunger Games their entire lives as citizens of Districts One and Two. In their final year of eligibility, both of their names are called at the annual Reaping ceremony. During training week, Shane realizes he wants nothing more than to bury his knife in Ilya’s throat, and Ilya can’t seem to resist trying to provoke him into doing it.

The problem is, that eventually, killing each other stops being the only thing they want—and the Capitol is determined to make a spectacle out of every second of it.

Or: a Hollanov Hunger Games AU ;)
