Summary
Marriages were always a political gesture. You, marry your daughter to my son, and then our diplomatic bond will be public and non-reversible. It was a statement more than anything. A show of trust. Insurance against a falling out. Jaemin did not want that. Jaemin did not want to marry a princess. He wanted to marry someone of his own choice.
Why did the princes in fairy tales always get to marry their true loves, but the princes in real life did not?
Jaemin looked out the palace window to the twisting waves, and wondered how fast they could carry him away.

Summary
Then everything clicked together at once, and Chanyeol blurted out the first words that came to his mind before actually thinking it over.
“You love birthdays.”
Baekhyun, on the other hand, was visibly taken aback but recovered quickly. “Uh...yes. Why?”
“But you hate weddings."
“So dahil do’n you assume that I think celebrating birthdays is a scam? Na inimbento lang ito ng Hallmark para makabenta sila ng cheesy and over the top birthday greetings cards? Gano’n ba, Chanyeol?” Rather than being annoyed or put-off, Baekhyun looked amused.
Tumango lang si Chanyeol at taimtim na nagdasal na sana lamunin na siya ng lupa sa mismong birthday niya. Sobrang nakakahiya.
Baekhyun continued to stare at him for a moment, at a loss for how to react. Then, unexpectedly, he started to laugh. Out loud. The sound startled them both, but Chanyeol didn’t have the heart to stop him.
He loves hearing that sound. He loves making Baekhyun laugh.
