embarking upon high school wasn't supposed to be easy for anyone; they'd all been warned about that. in the midst of teenage 'dark days', an unexpected friendship forms between pretty and popular lottie matthews and unseen and angsty natalie scatorccio... an intense friendship, at most. that's what they'd individually tell themselves. it couldn't possibly be anything more, could it?

She sees Lottie’s eyebrow raise, lips pursing ever so slightly as Shauna pushes herself back from the bar, giving into everything inside her that’s screaming at her to interrupt them and stop this. She’s stopped by a hand, lightly grasping at her forearm, tightening ever so slightly. She looks up, and Lottie shakes her head – gesturing towards them in a way that Shauna assumes she’s supposed to get.
She doesn’t get it. Not until she manages to make out the way Lottie mouths she’s flirting. Oh.
So, there’s that.
