this is a reboot of an earlier AU i orphaned. :) originally the AU was named "the Watchmen AU", since its founding fic was named after the famous "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?", but then i remembered that there is a well-known property entitled Watchmen, which it has nothing to do with. so i named this tidied up iteration after a die made out of a sheep's knucklebone.
it is a cult AU, where the killing game is itself a recruitment ritual for a religious organization. i modeled the cult off of what few records are left of Pelagianism and took some inspiration from some ancient greek practices and objects, but i actually don't study ancient greece so it might induce some rage if you develop expectations based on that.
it's supposed to be psychological horror, but occasionally or often incorporates erotic horror, so please heed the distinction between M and E markers [E will always be for oneshots and sexuality will be minimally discussed in M fics]
