Rozanov offers a hand to shake. “A pleasure to meet you.”
“Likewise,” JJ says evenly as he shakes Rozanov’s god damn hand cordially.
“Nice to meet you,” Hayden grits out less than politely.
“Well,” Rozanov drawls, making himself comfortable on one of the loveseats Shane somehow has. He cracks open the single can of Coke. “At least you will not need to hide my body, yes?"
“You’re on thin ice, Rozanov,” Hayden says gruffly.
Rozanov ignores him, turning to JJ. “My favourite player is Shane Hollander after all.” He winks, taking a swig of his can.
They can get along, JJ thinks.

In which Ilya is still a hockey player and Shane is the nerdy TA who loves loons just a little too much (and hockey, of course).

“-moya rybka, I am sorry, sweet girl-” Ilya is saying, on his knees in the middle of their living room and patting the rug near him with what looks like devastation on his face as Anya continues to ignore him, curled up on Shane’s lap instead. Fresh off of several stacked events to fit them into a weekend–because Shane’s mom is nothing if not efficient when it comes to the deals she makes–Ilya got home only a few minutes ago, still in the outfit he’d left his Buzzfeed puppy interview in, which Anya had clearly not appreciated, sniffing him suspiciously after her initial excited greeting and then retreating to Shane immediately when he patted his thigh in welcome.
Shane is trying not to be obviously enjoying Ilya’s turmoil as much as he is, shifting Anya to lay on her back like a baby in one arm and cooing at her.
“I know, huh? Papa left and played with who knows how many other dogs, and the whole time you were here missing him. I bet he wasn’t even thinking about you, huh?”
“Hollander!” Ilya says, sounding scandalized. “Do not tell her that! Is not true!”

He hastily clicked open the folder, his eyes barely glancing through the dozen or so shots there, vaguely registering a picture with a sunset background from his condo balcony, something of him laughing, a picture of him working at his laptop with his glasses on...
The director called him again, and he shook his head, the photos blurring. Whatever. It would have to do.
He clicked "select all," then the messages icon, then Rozanov's name. Hit send.
