You let out a deep sigh, tired from your long day at work. Your head pounded as you ran out of the grey halls that lead to the dance studio you and Jimin train in.
Jimin is your 2 year long boyfriend and life long best friend. You've both been friends since you were in kindergarten. You can remember the night that he decided to be a dancer, you can remember when you both started your first year of high school and you had your first boyfriend. His name was Hoseok and you immediately fell in love with his smile, his eyes, and his humor. It was the first time you had felt love towards another person. You can remember when you and Jimin had a sleepover, and that night, Jimin confessed his love for you and kissed you. You remember his lips tasting like cherries and the first spark you ever had with him, it all started that night. However, even though you then knew your feelings toward him, you were still with Hoseok. You've never been one to take risks, and you felt too safe with Hoseok to let him go. You remember seeing your life long best friend broken and in tears, over you. You remember all of your regret, but. Then Jimin found someone else. Then YOU could the pain he had for you. It lead you to let go of your first boyfriend, and to work towards winning Jimin over. He constantly tells you how little you had to do to win his heart back, but to you it felt like hundreds of years every time you hinted at your feelings for him.
Tonight, your head is pounding because of your guilt. Tonight is yours and his 2 year anniversary. And you were late for dinner. Jimin has always been a giant romantic, planning out every dinner, he always dresses up like such a prince, he smothers you with either 100 flowers, or 100 kisses. He spoils you with necklaces and earrings that you try to decline, but he INSISTS that you keep them all.
You finally get to your car and begin speeding down the road while looking at the time. You were already 20 minutes late. You bang your head on the steering wheel as you hit another red light and your frustration rises more and more with each moment you realize that you're a horrible girlfriend.
"Aigoo," you whine, "He's such a perfect boyfriend, and I'm late for our 2 year anniversary!" "He doesn't deserve me," you mumble.
You finally get to your house and as you open your car door you almost forget to close it behind you. You speed inside your house and rush to your bathroom. You had laid out your dress this morning so that you wouldn't have to spend hours figuring out what you wanted to wear.
You sigh at the irony. You had laid it out in the bathroom to try and not be late.
You throw on the dress and check it in the mirror. It's a red dress that hugs your waist and flares out at the edges, it has a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps to show your shoulders. You then apply some makeup and decide to skip the eyeliner. After just running a brush through your hair, you grab your purse and your black heels. You dart down the stairs and remember to lock the door.
While you speed down the road your mind fills with worry and disappointment in yourself. Jimin is always so perfect, and on the one night you promised yourself to be perfect, you failed on him. While at yet another red light, you check your phone and see 3 messages from Jimin. Which you find a little odd, since you're late, he normally spams you with worried texts.
"Princess, where are you?"
"I'm getting little worried"
"Am I getting stood up on our 2 year anniversary :,|"
Your fingers rush to reply but by the time you were about to hit send, you arrive at his house.
You rush inside and wipe away the few sweat beads forming on your head.
"Jiminie?" You call out. You wait a few moments before calling his name again just to be met with silence again.
"Jimin!?" You begin walking throughout his home.
"I'm back here Princess!" You finally hear that soft voice yelling from the backyard.
You a take a deep breath, relieved that he replied to you.
As you walk to the backyard, with the only noise in the room being your heels clicking on the floor, you check your phone to see the time again.
40 minutes late.
Once you finally reach the backyard, you're greeted by your boyfriend, standing with a smile.
You look him up and down and see him in his black dress pants, with suspenders hooked over his shoulders and a bright red bow tie tied perfectly around his neck. His pink lips lighten his smooth skin and his black hair falls perfectly. He smiles wider as you walk closer to him, showing you your favorite part about him. His eyes. His eyes squint into a thinner and thinner eyesmile as his chubby cheeks and wide smile appear on his face.
All your frustration and worry instantly melt away just by looking at him. Your heart quickly beats faster and your stomach swarms with butterflies.
You look around him and see the twinkle lights strung up above you and a table set with food under trays and flowers in a vase in the middle of the table.
"He did all of this for me?" You mumble to yourself.
"Princess," he walks closer to you and wraps his hands around your waist, instantly intensifying your butterflies.
"I did this all for us," he smiles.
He starts shaking his head jokingly.
"And you're late baby girl," he frowns cutely.
You let your head drop.
"I know.... I'm so sorry ChimChim" you apologize, and even though he's joking, you mean it sincerely.
He giggles lightly.
That giggle of his, it always warms your heart and breathes life into you.
"It's alright baby. Happy 2 year anniversary." He smiles again.
He places his forehead against yours and lightly rubs your noses together.
He's so perfect. Everything about him. Every time you're sad, he brightens your day. Every time you feel disappointed in yourself, he makes you feel like the only girl in the world. He makes you feel so special. On a cold day, he is the only true warmth you can find. You truly love him.
"Happy 2 year anniversary," you say back with a smile.
"So! I made us dinner, but first! I want us to dance for a bit," he pipes up.
You laugh at his adorable nature.
"Sure my prince."
He leads you towards the grass to use it as a dance floor. You realize that your high heels will get stuck in the dirt if you try to dance in them.
"Wait." You stop and take off your shoes.
He laughs, "Baby, what are you doing?"
"I'll get stuck in the grass."
He nods and starts taking off his shoes too.
You smile at his sweetness and you both head onto the grass.
Jimin pulls out his phone and taps it a few times. All of a sudden, you start to hear the song 'Can't Help Falling in Love' covered by Haley Reinheart playing in the background.
"Jimin! You're so sweet!" You cheer to him.
This song holds so much meaning to you. This song was the way Jimin first told you that he was in love with you. Your heart starts beating fast enough for you to hear it from the outside. Your fingers start shaking and you can only awe at how perfect he is.
His hands wrap tighter around your waist as you place your head in the crook of his neck, while you both start slightly sway to the music.
"Take my hand, take my whole life too. For I, can't help, falling in love with you" he softly sings in your ear.
Tears brim your eyes and he pulls away from you when he notices you shaking.
"Baby whats wrong?" He asks.
You can only shake your head, letting him know that nothing is wrong.
"Princess, can I tell you something?" He asks with an eye smile while you both continue swaying.
"Yes.. What is it Chimchim?" You return the smile.
"I have known you for 18 years now. I have loved you for all 18 years. I love your eyes, I love your hair, I love every bit of you. I love how nerdy you get. I love how needy you get when I'm not around you," he giggles. "I love how hard working you are, and how determined you can get when you're passionate about something. I love how you sing in the shower, I love how you make me feel and I love being able to wake up every day and know that I'm with the most beautiful woman in the world," he finishes.
By now tears have already began rolling down your cheeks and you can't help but giggle and smile widely.
"Princess~ don't cry," he wipes your tears, making you laugh.
"I probably look like a wreck right now-"
before you can fully finish your sentence he cuts you off with his soft lips.
He only keeps his lips there for a few seconds. Keeping it short and sweet. Even though you know that it was only for a few seconds, it feels like an eternity everytime he kisses you.
"Baby, you look perfect," he mumbles against your lips.
You two keep swaying until the song ends and you tighten your arms around his neck, pulling him closer to you, if that was even possible.
"Princess?" He looks to you.
"Mhm?" You smile.
"Remember that time that we snuck out at 2AM and ran to that park?" He smiles making you laugh.
"Yeah," you continue laughing, "That's when you fell out of that tree when Namjoon oppa came looking for us."
He joins your laugh.
"You remember that?" You ask.
"Of course I do. Actually, I remember everything about you. I remember everything about us. Because I've found a woman, stronger than anyone I've ever met. I've found a love that has began when we were children. I know for a fact that we'll be alright. Never let go of my hand, cause I can see my future in your eyes. Princess, I wouldn't want anyone else to be in my arms. I don't deserve you at all. How could I have a woman who looks so perfect, standing with me?" He smiles.
More tears start to fall and the only thing you can do besides blush is giggle. You feel helpless when his poetic words sway you into a trance where there's nothing else to do but giggle.
"I have so much faith in us now that I've seen an angel in person. You look so perfect tonight. You always look perfect." He plants another kiss against your lips before pulling away, while he slides to his knee.
"My princess, will you marry me?"
