Work Text:

Taehyung+Reader

"Wooseok, I can't do this anymore!" You screamed out.

"I can't pretend like everything is okay when we BOTH know that we are not okay! I know about you and Y/F/N," you screamed at your boyfriend, tears streaming down your face, and your head pounding with frustration and hurt.

Your boyfriend for 1 year looks up to you with an unreadable face. There are no tears in his eyes, no hurt, no regret. His sinister look crushed you even more. All you want is him to feel regret, to realize that he DID love you. But instead of the look, or the words you were hoping for, you received silence.

"Wooseok," you say his name a little calmer as you run a hand through your unbrushed hair. "You used to love me. You used to show me that you loved me.. so I know how it feels to be loved by you, and this is not love. Now you don't even care. You don't even think twice before you leave. You don't care!"

"You don't care," you mumble into another sob, dropping to your knees.
"You slept with my best friend.. And you don't even care."

You can hear your heart shatter as you look up to him through the blur of your tears. You can see his soft black hair, the hair that you once ran your hand through. You can see his brown eyes, the eyes that you put so much faith in, now you can't see anything in them. You can see his perfect lips, the lips that spoke the three words that breathed life into you and that gave you a reassuring smile. Now it's all gone.

"Am I just not good enough?" You cry out the fear that you've kept close to yourself since childhood.
Another question, answered without a sound.

You raise yourself off the ground and glare at him deeply, trying to work through the layers of walls that he puts up. Trying to break into the real Wooseok. Trying your hardest to see through him. Without success.
"Goodbye Wooseok. For the last time," you mumble as your feet take off, out of his house.

Your feet take you in a random direction through the streets with only one mission and only one thought, to get away from him and his home as quickly as possible. You silently thank yourself that it's night time so there's no cars on the roads, but in reality none of that matters.
Just keep running.
You tell yourself over and over.

You run through your hurt and your tears. All your false hope and deceptive lies that you would tell yourself, all gone. You tried to fix things. You tried to save your relationship, but it is impossible to save THIS relationship.

Your feet soon slow down and you find yourself catching your breath and looking back with a sigh, you can't even see his street anymore. Looking around yourself, you realize that you're in a park, with a swing set dead ahead of you.
You lazily walk to the swings with tears still pouring from your broken heart.
When you sit on the swing, your feet barley touch the ground, reminding yourself how short you are. You normally laugh at your height, or lack there of. But you have zero energy to laugh.

You zone out in thought.
"It's all gone..," You say out loud, but in a soft voice.

About 2 minutes later, you feel your swing start to move forward and then slowly backwards. You quickly spin your head around to look at the figure behind you.
Your eyes meet the bottom of a coat jacket, so your eyes continue traveling up until you realize how tall this person is.
Finally, you're met with the squinted eyes of a man with his smile shaped like a box, and even in the night time you can see his glowing skin.

"Hello!" He says happily in English.
You feel the need to say something back, but it's hard to when you're choking on your tears and are stuttering in his beauty.

"Hey~" he says in a deeper voice. "Don't cry over meaningless men," he says and starts pushing your swing again.

You quickly get off your swing when you realize that he's a stranger talking to you late at night.
"W-who are y-you?" you ask through a few silent tears.
"I'm Kim Taehyung!" he replies, flashing his smile in a box shape again.

"How did you know I was c-crying over a m-man?" You stutter out.

"Because my dad used to tell me that only ugly men make pretty girls cry," he says softly.
Suddenly you can feel your cheeks warm up when you notice that he just called you pretty.

He smiles at your blush and is secretly proud of himself.
"What is your name?"
" Y-y/N," you stutter out again with your hands rising to your cheeks to hide your blush.

"Nice to meet you~" he says happily.
His eyes leave yours and look down at the swing, then back up to you.
"Sit!"

You hesitantly sit down on the swing again and he starts pushing you.
"You have a very pretty name Y/N," he says.
"T-thank you" you answer quietly. You suddenly note that you've stopped crying.

"Why are you out here so late though? It's not safe for beautiful women like you to wonder the streets alone at night."
"Oh well.... I WAS with someone," you sigh out.

You hear him grunt in understanding.
"You shouldn't cry though. Ungrateful men don't deserve tears," he states.

You shyly smile to yourself at his sweetness. All of a sudden, all of your hurt towards Wooseok has left. You're not crying, or even feel the urge to cry anymore. All you can feel is the blush in your cheeks, and the very few butterflies in your stomach.
"Thank you," you say, in almost a whisper.

"You're welcome," he leans over to show you his smile. His beautiful smile.. He literally glows..

He soon stops pushing the swing and squats down in front of you so that he can talk to you face to face.
"So, what is Y/N thinking?" He looks at you like he's looking at a puzzle.

"I'm a little confused," you say with a tiny giggle, "I know I'm sad, but I'm also happy," you tell him honestly.
"What do you mean?" He returns your giggle.
"Aish," you sigh, "I guess it just means I'm a little broken."

After those words leave your mouth, the park falls silent for a moment. That moment is filled only with Taehyung's gaze on you, and his thoughts.

You're quite surprised at your own honesty with him, or the fact that you're even comfortable with him, even though you just met him. Inside you're telling yourself to run away because he might be dangerous. But then there's a part of you that can sense adventure in him.

"Then let me heal you," he says with a half smile.

Your stomach turns and your cheeks get red hot again.
"You're blushing again!" Taehyung laughs.
Your hands jump up to your face once more to cover your flushed cheeks.

Suddenly, the sky above you makes a crackling sound and you begin to feel water droplets on your nose.
"Ah~ it looks like its raining!" Taehyung shouts joyfully and pulls you off of the swing gently. "Let's get you home quickly!" He grabs your hand and starts running through the park.

And once again you were running. Only this time, you were running with hope.
