It felt a bit sudden.
Throughout the recent months, their exchanges with each other seem to have gotten more intimate. Eyes lingering too long, and Hoseok gradually getting more adventurous with his hands, letting them rest along the curve of Jungkook’s waist, or resting along the younger’s hip for longer than necessary. But Jungkook had never expected the older to walk into his bedroom while the other members were out and sitting on the edge of his bed, an uncertain determination painted in his expression. He had been a bit confused, seeing the light flush covering his hyung’s cheeks and the way the older immediately dropped his head, looking down at his lap as he picked at his own cuticles.
Jungkook set his phone aside as he pushed himself up from the lounging position he was in before crawling over and sitting next to Hoseok. He lightly grabbed the the other’s hand, trying to stop him from damaging his fingers. The move seemed to catch him off guard, causing Hoseok to quickly lift his head up, his eyes searching for… something in his dongsaeng’s face, his eyes clouded with uncertainty.
Jungkook smiled softly, lacing his fingers with the hand he had pulled into his lap. His heart clenched with anxiety over what could make his hyung so fidgety and uncomfortable.
“What did you need?” He asks, hoping his voice didn’t give off how anxious he had felt.
Hoseok closes his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath to try and calm the the quick beating of his heart. He opens his eyes again, the dark brown filled with a courage as the hand Jungkook was holding is brought closer to himself before clasping the younger’s hand between his own. The sudden action caused Jungkook to fall forward a bit, now leaning closer to Hoseok, a deep flush painting across his cheeks as he tries to figure out what’s gotten into his hyung.
“Will you go out with me?” Hoseok asks a bit too quickly.
It took a moment for Jungkook to figure out what’s been asked, but soon the the pink tinted across his face grows darker as he tries to sputter out an answer, his free hand flying up to cover the embarrassment from his face. Hoseok is quick to grab the wandering limb, trapping both of Jungkook’s pale hands between his own darker ones.
“Um…. Y-Yes… Yeah… I want to go out with you.”
Jungkook isn’t sure how to define the smile that stretches across Hoseok’s lips except that it was blinding and beautiful. A smile he doesn’t think he’s ever seen with the years they’ve lived together. Seeing his hyung looking this happy made his stomach twist with something he couldn’t explain, it felt stronger than the butterflies that filled his tummy whenever the two would catch each other’s glances from across rooms.
He tries to hide himself again, letting his head drop to look at their still entwined hands as a way to hide the embarrassment that settled in as he realized what had just transpired between them. Hoseok, his living sunshine of a hyung, had asked him out. His long time crush, his own bandmate, liked him. It all felt a bit surreal.
Hoseok’s smile softens as Jungkook curls into himself before using a knuckle to lift the boy’s face up so they’re facing each other again. The weight from his chest was lifted after he got the answer he’d hoped for, and he felt braver with his actions. He began to lean close, stopping for a moment as he noticed the small hitch in the younger’s breath, his eyes closing tightly.
‘That’s right… Jungkook still hasn’t had his first kiss…’ The thought spread warmth throughout Hoseok, the mere thought of being the younger’s first expanding his ego. However, he decided the comfort of his dongsaeng came before anything and thus opted to plant a small kiss atop Jungkook’s forehead. The small act seemed to have eased the tension in Jungkook’s shoulders, scrunched up at the mere thought of taking their relationship farther than they’d already done, falling into a more comfortable fashion.

They’d kept their relationship a secret within the first couple weeks, wanting to get comfortable with their newly developed relationship before discussing it with their fellow bandmates and managers. Unsurprisingly, the rest of BTS were quick to notice the change in their demeanors. The way Hoseok seemed to be a bit more handsy with Jungkook, hand tucked away in the younger’s back pocket as they went from schedule to schedule, and the way Jungkook’s shy gaze would wander in search of Hoseok, only for him to smile in a way the other boys had never seen before. It didn’t take long for Namjoon to call in a “Family Meeting,” something they’ve always done in order to discuss important matters happening within the group
“So…” Namjoon began, eyeing the members sat around the knee level coffee table in middle of their living room. “Do the both of you have something you’d like to tell us?” he finally asked, eyes shifting from Hoseok, sitting to the right of him, and Jungkook, sitting on the left by the other end of the table.
Jungkook flushed before quickly looking down at his lap, suddenly finding the loose threads at the hem of his t-shirt to be far too interesting as Namjoon’s strong gaze caused a fit of butterflies in his stomach. He should’ve known this would happen. He’d hoped his and Hoseok’s plan on coming out to the members had happened sooner, not wanting to deal with the what he assumed, had to be, “judging” looks.
A cough from Hoseok broke Jungkook from his thoughts, focusing back on the situation at hand.
“Jungkook and I are dating.” Hoseok finally admits, a bright smile stretching across his face. “We were going to tell you guys, but I wanted to wait until Jungkook was comfortable enough being my boyfriend.”
Boyfriend. The word deepened the embarrassed flush tinting Jungkook’s features, spreading down to his neck as a smile graced his lips, his eyes softening. Namjoon seemed to have been trying to reassure the two that him and the rest of the boys were totally okay with their blossoming relationship, only to be interrupted by Taehyung and Jimin’s loud cooing toward Jungkook.
“Taehyung. Jimin. Stop.” Namjoon said, a lazy command that got the two to quiet down for a moment. “As I said a bit ago, we all support the both of you, but do not let anything involving your relationship damage the group.”
The two boys in question nodded in agreement, and not long after, the two had called their managers to notify them of their relationship.

Jungkook finally felt ready.
It had been about five months since Hoseok asked him out, and it had been four months since Hoseok had called Jungkook his boyfriend.
He had gotten more comfortable with the older, letting himself lean into Hoseok’s touches and basking in the warmth his hyung’s lips left along his forehead and cheeks. Hoseok had been so, so patient with him, letting Jungkook get comfortable with the older’s contact. The development of their relationship had been slow and steady, but Jungkook’s finally ready to take it to the next step. Though, he assumed most people would already be far over this step if they’d been with someone as handsome as Hoseok for as long as he had.
He took in a breath, slowly letting the air out from his mouth. He could do this, Jungkook thought to himself, trying to mentally prepare himself.
Hoseok, who had been sitting beside him on the sofa during another rewatch of the Iron Man Movies, looked over at his younger boyfriend before letting an arm snake around the younger’s waist, thumb rubbing the protruding hipbone, trying to comfort Jungkook. He had let his hand linger where it was even as Jungkook suddenly began shifting around, no longer focused on his favorite superhero.
Jungkook had turned a full 90 degrees, tucking his legs so they were crossed before looking up at Hoseok, courage flickering in his eyes. Hoseok moved to pause the movie, placing the remote back where it had been sitting before letting himself sit in the same position as Jungkook.
“Hyung...” Jungkook began, the brave facade he had built slowly crumbling as the word disappeared into a faint whisper.
Again, Hoseok quirked an eyebrow unsure why his boyfriend was suddenly acting so shy around him after how long they’d been dating. “What is it, Kookie?”
“CANIKISSYOU?” The younger quickly spat out, eyes shutting tight as the hands sitting by his sides curled into tight fists.
Hoseok understood what Jungkook had asked, though he felt like he should tease his boyfriend into repeating the words again, softer and not as rushed. The hand that was still sitting on Jungkook’s hip began to teasingly rub up the curve of his waist before slowly gliding back down to rest at his hip.
“Can you repeat that? I didn’t quite catch it.” Hoseok said, a teasing smirk lifting the corner of his mouth as he locked his gaze with Jungkook’s.
Jungkook groaned, his eyes slowly opening back up, bringing his fisted hands into his lap.
“Why?” He whined with a pout of his lips. “I know you heard what I asked.”
“Come on, Kookie. I just want you to ask nicely. I know you can do it.” Hoseok replied, bringing his other hand to cup Jungkook’s cheek, thumb caressing the cheekbone there. He smiled softly at the boy before him, eyes soft and adoring as a way to get the other to comply with his wishes.
With a light huff, Jungkook turned his face away, losing the nerve to face Hoseok.
“Can… Can i kiss you…?” He asked again, tone light and words slightly mumbled but it would do. Hoseok grinned up at him, the same radiant smile that had appeared when Jungkook had agreed to dating him and a few times throughout the months they’d been together.
“I’ve been waiting for you to ask.” Hoseok says lowly, bring the hand that rested on Jungkook’s hip to the other side of his face, bringing the boy’s focus onto himself. He caressed the boy’s cheekbones again, Jungkook leaning into the touch, before leaning towards the slightly taller boy, melding their lips together in a chaste kiss.
Hoseok would remember the timid yet brilliant smile that Jungkook had flashed him the moment they pulled away, and he was sure to remember how Jungkook pulled Hoseok back into his own shy kiss.
