Chapter Text
Kim Namjoon rubbed his temples for what he assumed to be the fourth time ever since he came back from his mission. It didn't help when he heard the youngest members bicker back and forth on who would get the remaining lucky charms that was in the box. He felt hope on getting his recommended nine hours of sleep, and when he saw the clock, he almost popped an artery.
It was fucking 5:30 in the morning.
Now, he tried his best not to storm into the kitchen and take the box back to his room. It honestly felt like he was babysitting rather than being a mafia boss.
"But V! Scissors beats paper!"
Children.
After a few moments of silence, he sighed and thanked the gods for letting him sleep more. He snuggled into his silk duvets and hummed. He also made a mental note to beat the pair when he wakes up from his slumber.
Sometime later, Namjoon sat in his leather desk, facing two of his companions.
"Yes, he said that he was an ally with us."
"Wait what?"
Was?
J-hope spoke as he took his bucket hat and placed it on his lap. Namjoon noticed he was oddly fidgeting in his seat, which on a regular day would look normal. His comrade was usually the scaredy cat type an odd contrast with his work partner, Min Yoongi. Namjoon eyes trained on J-Hope for a half a minute which did not help his comrades state of mind.
"What's bothering you?"
He watched as he twisted his expensive bucket hat as if he were wringing a rag. Somehow, this agitated the leader even more because he was lacking patience and sleep. The last thing he wanted to deal with a mission gone wrong, and hear J-Hopes stuttering.
"We caught him trading our information given to him."
A big sigh left Namjoons lips as he heard Yoongi's monotone words. He stood up from his chair and looked at the outskirts of Nighttime Seoul.
"You said was."
"I shot him in the head."
"Yoongi!"
"What? He asked me so I responded."
The leader turned around before their conversation turned into a scolding session.
"What else do I need to know?" He demanded with his arms crossed. The whole situation was intimidating because of the height differences. J-hope closed and opened his mouth like a fish and smacked Yoongi's side for backup. The blonde only looked at him before scoffing.
"We obviously didn't kill him before getting information out of him. He explained that an underground group was demanding our whereabouts. For some reason, they want to gain territory."
"Who?"
"SVT."
Namjoon felt his jaw clench and asked for the two to leave him alone. After he heard the door slam shut, he decided to serve himself vodka. The clear liquid somehow made him stare off into space, and then something happened.
Namjoon had an idea. It was a fucking great idea that made him put the bottle down.
He walked out of his office and was silently observing his comrades interacting. The whole set up didn't surprise him at all because it's what he came to every day after coming from a mission.
Jungkook was playing his video games, Jimin was messing around with him along with V. Namjoon watched as the two made him more frustrated and the youngest began to shout insults. He peeked over to the kitchen, his eyes wandering to Seokjin, who was fixing up dinner for everyone. The knife slid across the slab of meat, and a shiver ghosted over the leader's skin for a moment.
The boys in the living stopped arguing and looked at Namjoon, who was oddly standing in the living room.
Meanwhile, J-hope was biting into a red apple while swinging his legs off the counter which he was sitting on.
"I don't know, man. It's just he has this cold stare that just makes me feel someway--" He mumbled under his breath.
Jin laughed, as he began seasoning the food. "It's funny seeing you turn into a mess when he walks into the room."
J-Hope let out a groan which made Jin let out another laugh that sounded like a window washer. "If only you were like that around women now I would pay to see that, playboy," Jin said with a smirk on his face, and J-Hope moved Jin's hand that was pointing a knife to him.
"Playboy? Have you seen Jimin?"
Jin chuckled along with J-Hope until Namjoon walked into the kitchen with his hands in his sweatpants.
"What's up?" The one cooking asked, and noticed J-Hope tense up.
A few beats passed before the leader spoke up, "Nothing. What are you cooking?"
"You'll see."
Namjoon hummed in response and walked out of the kitchen, making J-Hope shrug at Jin's confused face.
The door shut behind the leader as he stalked back into his office. He swung to pick up his cup and took a swig. Upon waltzing through the apartment, he was silently taking notes of everybody. All the while making himself agree with his idea even more. For the past few weeks, he's noticed that the group was slowly falling apartment. For a stranger, it might look like the maknaes would just look like they liked to tease each other.
No, he watched as Jungkook would clench his jaw or how Jimin stormed off into his room. Namjoon could practically feel the anger radiate from him. V would sometimes act like another Yoongi, but obviously less aggressive. Then Yoongi disappeared into god knows where only coming out when he would go out on missions. J-Hope and Jin were fine, but the one he was most disappointed with was himself. He mostly hid in his office and took care of the work. The only times he would see his boys were when he gave them assignments to them. It irked him when he would see them tense up like rocks when he entered the room as well.
Bottom line, he wanted the group to work like a family again. That's what he believed in, work was more efficient when there were bonds. He didn't fear the lack of loyalty, it just felt empty, like a family watching as the parents split up. SVT was a brand-new gang that formed a few months back, and he's heard about how they're a family. So, Namjoon decided to add a new member.
And he did just that.
