Chapter Text
"I have a friend you should meet, (Y/n)-chan!" Koichi said one day, excitedly as he bounded up to you. You looked up from your sketchbook, the medium you were currently using to draw with and watched as Koichi stumbled through the park to reach the bench you were sitting on. "You know how you've been saying you wanted to meet someone who would help you with your art?" You nodded. "Well, I asked my friend and he said he'd be willing to help you! He's a mangaka!"
You perked up. "R-really, Koichi?!" You gasped. You hugged him. "Thanks, man!" he wrapped his arms around you and hugged you back. You let go and shut your sketchbook as you went on to ask. "Wh-when can I meet him? What's his name? And how do you know a mangaka- wait nevermind! I don't want to know haha!" You were giddy. You had been wanting to get a few pointers from an artist outside of your classmates and teacher but couldn't find one. Hearing that Koichi had finally found an art buddy for you got you hyped.
Koichi laughed sheepishly. "H-hold on. You can meet him today but he's, uh, he's a little...eccentric. And it's probably best if I come with you."
You grinned. "Well, yeah! He is your friend." You patted Koichi on the back. "C'mon! Take me to 'im!" Koichi nodded and you began your journey to this friend's house.
You had lived in Morioh for all your life until the day you got shot with an arrow. Your parents took you to the hospital and moved out to the country, afraid for your safety. That was in your freshman year of high school. You moved back after getting accepted to Morioh University and began to pursue your career in art. You had met Koichi in middle school. You had been his tutor for a few months back then. The two of you had been good friends for awhile now so you trusted him when it came to his friends. Josuke and Okuyasu were nice enough and Jotaro had seemed cool. Yukako was a bit of a freak when you first met her but she softened as she got to know you and she learned that you weren't trying to steal her boyfriend from her.
However, as the two of you walked towards this Mangaka's house, Koichi told you about him. He told you that this friend was a fashion diva and seemed to never run out of outfits. It was rare when Koichi saw him in the same outift twice. He told you how this friend went out of his way to do anything for art. He told you about the time the friend had licked a spider for the sake of art. That sent goosebumps down your skin but you weren't deterred. Seeing that you weren't turning back, Koichi told you that his friend was a bit rude and was usually only nice to him. That bit didn't bother you at all. Some people were simple cold upon first meeting. Nothing you couldn't handle.
Koichi was glad you were so determined to meet his friend, whom he had yet to name. He didn't even tell you as you approached the large mansion-like home. You climbed up the steps to the porch and watched as Koichi rang the doorbell. There was silence for a few moments before you heard footsteps from inside. You waited patiently as the door unlocked before swinging open and a you heard, "Koichi-kun~!"
When Koichi said his mangaka friend's was a fashion diva, you didn't expect this much of a fashion diva. A somewhat tall man with bright green eyes came out the house, arms wide as he ushered Koichi in. His hair was dark green, swept to the side like seaweed pushed by the current. He had a yellow headband on with matching gold earrings that resembled pen tips. He wore a white crop top with little holes cut into it. The sleeves were cut open to reveal his shoulders. His pants hung loosely off his hips, barely held up by the brown suspenders that clung to them. You could see the blue band of his underwear. His pants were baggy and white, with two belts wrapped around the right leg.
"Come in, come in! You didn't tell me you were coming over!" he beamed at Koichi then frowned when he saw you. "Oh, and a friend. Who is this?"
"Th-that's (Y/n)-chan." Koichi said. The man looked at Koichi in confusion. "She's the one I was telling you about. The artist...?" You waved.
"Hi! It's, uh, nice to meet you! I'm (L/n) (Y/n)." You gave him a lopsided smile. "Koichi-kun said that you'd be willing to give me some pointers on my art...?"
He looked at you in disgust then he turned to Koichi. "Koichi-kun. I said I was looking for an assistant who would be willing to be a model and a test subject."
"Y-yeah! I figured she could do all that and you could help her with her art in exchange." Koichi said.
"I'm sorry," You cut in with a nervous smile. "What exactly am I getting into?"
Koichi looked away, a weak grin playing at his lips. "Sorry for not being completely honest, (Y/n)-chan. You see...Rohan-san wanted an assistant-"
"Hold on, hold on." You said, holding your hands up. "YOU'RE Rohan Kishibe? Like, the Rohan Kishibe?! Koichi-kun! Wh-why didn't you tell me before- oh my god. I'm a big fan of yours! I love Pink Dark Boy! I-"
Rohan waved you off and spoke over you. "Yes, yes. I'm sure you do. I'm not giving out autographs, just so you know." He looked at Koichi. "Koichi-kun, I'm not interested in teaching anyone." he said flatly, glaring at you.
"You don't have to teach me anything, Rohan-san." You piped up. Rohan arched an eyebrow quizzically. "You don't have to pay me or anything. I'd love to just work for you, if that's okay!"
You saw Koichi shaking his head but Rohan's attitude seemed to shift ever so slightly in your favor. "You'd work for me for free, hm?" he mused. He gestured for you to come inside. "Come in," Koichi stepped back as Rohan slipped into his house. You followed suite. As soon as you were inside, you had no time to admire his house. After he shut the door, he shouted, "Heaven's Door!" and everything went black.
-
When you woke up, you were laying on a couch, your arms folded across your stomach. You started to move your head to the side, but you heard a sharp, "Don't move!" so you laid still. Your eyes drifted to the side and you made out Rohan scribbling away, Koichi at his side. Koichi was looking over his shoulder as Rohan quickly finished a sketch before saying, "You can sit up." You did as you told and sat up. You looked over at Rohan who had a stack of finished drawings on his desk. He seemed satisfied. Before you could speak, he looked over at you. "When can you stop by again?"
You couldn't stop the goofy smiled that blossomed on your features. "O-oh! Tomorrow! I can just give you my schedule tomorrow!" you told him, excited. Rohan nodded. "I-I can work for you?"
Rohan hummed. "Indeed. You can start right now actually and get Koichi-kun and I something to drink." Rohan turned around to his desk and began to draw. "Bring me your schedule for the month tomorrow. If you need to start getting paid, let me know and I'll pay you for your hard work." He paused. "...And yes, I'll give you tips on your art." You smiled wide. "But not all the time. I'm very busy. Now, hurry along and get my drink."
"Yes, sir!" you stood up and went to rush out the room but Koichi called you to a halt.
"Actually, I'm gonna go. Yukako-chan wanted to hang out with me today," Koichi stood and waved goodbye to Rohan, who expressed the greatest of grief that Koichi was leaving but quickly got over it as he went back to draw. Koichi followed you out the doorway and down the stairs. "Hey, (Y/n)-chan...? You feeling okay?"
You nodded. "Yeah! Why?" you asked.
"Well, it's just..." Koichi trailed off and shook his head. "Nevermind." Koichi wanted to ask if you remembered Rohan using Heaven's Door on you but he knew that Rohan had written in for you to forget that detail of the conversation and for you to act normally as if nothing had happened. He was glad you weren't out long- no longer than a few minutes. He was still amazed by how quickly Rohan had gotten all those references pictures of you in such a short amount of time. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. "I hope you enjoy working for Rohan-san. He can be a bit cold, as you saw but he can be...pretty nice."
"I can see! I mean, I'm working for him and all but he's still willing to help me with my art!" You said, smiling. "I mean, he totally could've shot me down! I wonder what made him change his mind."
The two of you reached the front door. "Yeah, I wonder..." Koichi muttered under his breath. He looked up at you. Seeing that happy look on your face made him happy and he mirrored your smile. "I'll see you around, (Y/n)-chan! Be careful, okay?" He opened the door and waved goodbye to him, telling him to be careful as well as he left. He shut the door behind him and you locked it.
With that out of the way you began your work for Rohan.
-
Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months. You continued your work with Rohan. At the end of the first day, Rohan decided to pay you straight up and gave you tips on all the art you had drawn in the sketchbook you had brought with you. He didn't tell you to your face actually. When you got home after he told you to leave for the day, when you opened you book it had been vandalized with comments and small references or corrections in the corner. You were pissed off he had drawn all over your hard work but after reading some of the comments, you realized he was just trying to help you improve, even though he was helping in the most dickish way possible. You went over his house daily, fitting time in between classes. You found yourself having to freeze mid-chore for him to draw your pose for reference before telling you to continue on with your work. You never did weird experiments for him, like licking spiders, but one day you found him curled up in a ball, clutching his stomach, in a pile of vomit.
He had eaten rat poison for a scene in Pink Dark Boy.
He kept begging you to call Josuke and you did and Josuke...somehow made him better. He was pissed the whole time he was there but upon seeing you, he told you to call him anytime Rohan did something stupid like that again. Then, he was gone. And Rohan instructed you to clean up the vomit while he went straight to drawing, as if nothing had happen.
That was the craziest it had ever been.
Rohan was cold but that's mainly because he was always working. He didn't seem to care about himself much and you often found yourself making him food and bringing him drinks. He never left his chair unless he had to go to the bathroom. You wondered how he took care of himself before you started working here. Some days he would announce he wanted to go out and usually went with him.
He went to cafes or parks or he hung out by the ocean. He probably thought nothing of it but being with him at those places...they felt like dates. Sometimes you ran into someone you knew, like Josuke or Okuyasu or Koichi. Running into a familiar face usually broke that illusion of a date but you enjoyed your time with Rohan nonetheless.
Before you knew it, you had developed a crush on him.
Though you liked him more than a friend, it didn't interfere with your work. You kept it to yourself and you worked diligently no matter what. Your crush remained your secret. You didn't write it anywhere, you didn't tell anyone. You just stayed quiet about it and acted normally.
Until one day...
It was a normal day at work. You were working quietly on your lonesome downstairs. It was getting late and nearing the time when Rohan usually called you upstairs to dismiss you. You were cleaning up a mess he had made earlier. He had thrown his drink on you and quickly did a sketch of your quickly changing emotions, joy to see him, confusion, anger and relaxation after seeing why he had done it. He gave you a change of clothes after the little prank and you happily accepted them.
It was a simple tank top and jeans. You had left these clothes here just in case the ones you wore to his house got ruined for one reason or another. After changing, you threw your clothes in the dryer and left them in there as you went back to the task you were currently doing. Cleaning up the liquid. You worked diligently to get up all the water before taking the now sopping wet towel and throwing it in the dryer as well. You turned the machine on and sighed.
"(L/n)-chan!" came the call from above you. "I need you!" You assured him you were coming.
You walked to the stairs and began the climb up. You walked towards the room he was in. Opening the door, you gave a friendly, "Hey!" and walked over to him. He was staring at his work silently. You looked over his shoulder and looked at the work of art before you. It was a scene where the protagonist was meeting with the love interest. You studied the page quietly before looking over at Rohan. "What's wrong?"
"I need you to confess to me." Rohan said simply. You blinked.
"Um...what?" You questioned.
Rohan turned around in his chair and looked at you. You faced him. "I need you to confess your love. Make it as cute as possible. I need to draw your expression."
You felt the blood rush to your face. Suddenly your ears were burning. "I...I can't just confess. It won't be authentic. I don't like you like that, Rohan-san." you lied. You wondered if he found you out. He couldn't have found out that quickly, right? You were really secretive about it.
Rohan studied you. He hummed in thought before saying, "Heaven's Door!" and you fell back. Rohan caught you. He stared into your face as you fell into that sleeplike state. He only had a few moments before you woke up so he opened up the page on your face. He fished through the pages carefully. Over the course of your relationship, Rohan had reread your life several times. He usually wrote in that you would forget this 'attack' and you would go back to work like normal. It seemed to work and he saw nothing wrong with it, even though it was incredibly intrusive. At any rate, he had come across something interesting last month. You had fallen in love with him.
He found that page and read it to himself. I am in love with my boss, Kishibe Rohan. I won't tell a single soul, lest he finds out. He smiled. It was cute that you thought you could keep anything secret from him. Not when your life was such great material for his manga. But, after confirming what he already knew, he wondered why you didn't just confess to him. Why you would lie about not liking him. Just telling him would make it easier for you to deal with. He wondered if you needed a little push. He quickly wrote in that would forget this encounter and that you would help him with his manga when you woke up. He shut your face and your eyes opened.
You were greeted with Rohan's straight face. You were in his arms. You yelped and scrambled away from him. He seemed amused by your reaction. "Sorry about that! I don't know what happened-"
"It's okay, (L/n)-san. Now then," he picked up his sketchbook and pencil. "Can you confess your love to me?"
Your face was warm. You felt like the tips of your ears were going to melt. You looked at the ground, unable to meet his eyes and held your hands in front of you. However, you could hear his pencil flying across the page. "Rohan-san, that's really embarrassing," You murmured, eyebrows knitted together. You were down to help him but this...this was too much. Too close. You tried to think about how he didn't actually know you liked him and how this was just for reference but...It was too close.
You sighed and looked up at Rohan through your eyelashes. He was staring back at you intensely while his pencil worked its magic across the . You swallowed hard. "I...I love you..." you said softly. You looked away. "Was that authentic enough?"
"Do you mean that?" Rohan asked.
You looked back at him as your face seemed to cool down. "Huh?"
"Do you really love me?" He pressed.
The heat came back. "Rohan-san, I-" should you tell him? How would he react? You gulped as he set his art supplies down and stared directly at you. "I should probably leave," you began but Rohan grabbed your arm.
"(Y/n)..." he said, You faced him, your heart racing as he called you by your first name. Heat crawled up your arm when he touched you and you wanted him to take you then and there. "Do you love me?"
You stared into his eyes. You knew you should tell him, but something was keeping you quiet. Something was holding you back. You took a deep breath, trying to fight the deep set fear in your gut. You opened your mouth and said, "I do love you, Rohan-san."
A knowing smile crept onto his features as he pulled you closer to him. He wrapped his arm around your waist and lifted your chin. He pressed a kiss to your lips. Butterflies fluttered up in your stomach. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he brought you closer. He licked your lips and you opened your mouth to let him in. He slipped his tongue in and you gripped at his collar as you tasted the mint tea you had served him earlier on his lips. You let a moan slip out from between your lips and Rohan pulled away. Your legs were knocking. You felt as if you're heart was going to burst out your chest. Rohan looked down at the tank you were wearing and gently tugged at the bottom of it.
"Have you dreamt of a day like this?" He asked softly. You nodded shyly. "Would you like to know what it's like to bed with the Great Kishibe Rohan?" he asked next.
You blinked. Your face flared up. "W-whoa! Y-you mean like...now?"
"I don't see why not. Unless, you don't want to. I won't force you," Rohan murmured.
Your heart was racing. You swallowed hard and briefly tasted that mint tea. "...I...If we do...what would happen afterwards...?" you asked. Though you were scared, you wanted to know whether or not you two would be a thing. Or would you simply be a one-night stand? Honestly, you wanted him to bend you over and fuck you then and there but more so you wanted to be his significant other. You watched as he took your hand in his and you looked up at him. "Do...do you love me as well?"
Rohan was never one to be comfortable in sharing his emotions. If anything, he was more embarrassed that you asked than when he had kissed you. He blushed and squeezed your hand. He looked away. "(Y/n), I...feel quite strongly about you." he assured you. He cleared his throat. It was cute to see him flustered, seeing as he didn't show this softer side often. You knew that was the best you were getting out of him and you almost sided but Rohan continued. "I'm...not sure what would happen. I won't just leave you on your lonesome, I can promise you that." He promised.
"Rohan-san..." you breathed.
"Are you alright with this?" he asked.
Today was going by in a blur. This was not how you expected today to go but you weren't complaining. You smiled at him. You stood and kissed his lips. "Yes. Let's see just how great you are," you teased and Rohan smirked, a devious glint in his eyes.
