Chapter Text

When she was a young woman Inko used to jokingly say that she'd defintely marry a guy with a fire Quirk because her feet were always cold. It was only part of the greater truth, which was that she admired people with Quirks related to pyrokinesis. There were three in her high school. All of them were universally well liked due to their great personalities, leadership abilities and incredible charisma, leading her to believe it had to be related to their Quirk somehow. Gossip mags agreed with her, tending to put out inane quizzes and the like where the general type of Quirk was supposedly able to give insight into how a person was. As Inko was always a bit of a dreamer she decided that she wanted to marry somebody like that; a strong person who had all the traits she lacked.

And:

When she met her husband it was love at third sight, which was one of those secrets she resolved to take to her grave. Not that he wasn't kind, courteous and charming as well as clearly interested. He was all of those things, but on the third date the spark finally lit when he mentioned that his Quirk was fire breathing. Inko felt incredibly lucky to meet such a great guy and the more time they spent together the more she began to love him. They got married straight out of high school, three weeks after graduating. When she turned nineteen two months later he was offered a new job at a different branch of the company he worked at. It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't the American branch. He had no choice, his salary would nearly double and they were a young couple straight out of high school. Before he left he promised he'd come home as often as he could and they'd definitely have a honeymoon at some point. After he was gone Inko cried herself to sleep for a week straight.

Also:

Shortly before her twentieth birthday, for which she wanted nothing more than her husband's return, there was an incident. It was a beautiful first day of July and Inko was happily browsing the vegetable stall on the local market, woven basket in the crook of her elbow. It was still early enough to merely be pleasantly warm outside and she studied her shopping list for the ingredients she'd need to make a caesar salad. It was an American recipe her husband sent her in a letter, saying it was so delicious she just had to try it. One moment she pondered whether cheese should really go into a salad the next there was a huge crash as a large object came falling from the sky and smashed into the vegetable stall. Cabbages, beets and carrots flew everywhere. Inko let out a horrified gasp when she realized that it was a person who just landed in front of her. A freakishly tall man built like a brick shithouse wearing a dark blue jumpsuit that showcased enormous bulging muscles. He let out a string of curses that made her blush as he climbed to his feet. There was fire dancing on his face, forming an impromptu robin mask and beard. His boots looked like they were made from fire as well. Naturally he radiated so much heat it was making her sweat and she was standing several feet away. A loose salad leaf fell from his shoulder as he stood up, towering over her by at least three heads. She stared up at him with wide eyes and he looked down at her with narrow bright blue ones.

"Um, are you hurt?!" She squeaked.

"No," he growled, voice deep and dark with fury.

"Whoa, it's Endeavour!"

"Holy shit, he's literally on fire!"

"What's he doing here?"

People started whispering all around her, but Inko was too stunned to react in any other way but to gape at him. Even somebody like her, whose Quirk was not really strong, could tell that she was facing a top tier hero in a league of his own. He radiated power from every pore and it was awe inspiring on a primal level. This was a natural born leader. Inko couldn't move a muscle as long as he looked at her, which wasn't that long. He simply stepped around her without another word and was gone in a flash. The vegetable vendor glanced at the wreckage, looked after Endeavor and ran a hand through his greying hair with a deep sigh.

"Well, I'm out of business now," he muttered shakily.

"Um, excuse me? I'll take these," Inko said with a big smile after bending to pick up a bunch of veggies that survived the crash.

The vendor stared at her before he broke out into a grateful smile and rung her up. She took her basket home while humming a tune. The image of the flaming hero didn't leave her mind the entire time. She never in her wildest dreams believed she'd ever meet somebody who didn't just have a flame Quirk, but was flame personified. There really was no other way to describe him. Looking at him had been like staring at a wildfire from up close. It was a spectacle of nature. After she prepared the salad and found it to be too filling for her likes she looked the hero up on her beat up old computer. Endeavour was ranked Japan's number two hero after All Might. Many people on the hero forum she clicked on were saying that while he was extremely strong and smart he was an unpleasant person. Apparently he was brash, rude and antisocial. Inko chuckled to herself. It didn't surprise her in the least. After all he had a fire Quirk.
