Chapter Text
“Two medium iced cappuccinos, one iced coffee with a splash of soy milk, one hot black coffee, and two caramel macchiatos, all to go!” Jimin listed as he came back behind the counter, Taehyung nodded as he quickly scrambled down everything Jimin had said. They had only been open for about ten minutes and orders were already piling in. Taehyung had counted twelve in total if you include the online orders and the orders from the takeaway counter. That’s what they get though for working full time at an incredibly popular coffee shop right in the middle of Seoul’s business district, not to mention it was within walking distance to the nearest University. That’s what made it an obvious choice for Jimin and Taehyung when they saw that they were hiring. It’s not that working here was bad, it was fun, but mornings were the most stressful time of day. However, seeing the faces of the regulars always made things a little easier, they were always so kind and patient.
An incredible amount drinks later, things had finally slowed down. This was the best part of the day honestly. Everyone in the shop was there to have a nice and relaxing time. There was an elderly couple holding hands on the table while reading the paper, a mother and her two children were enjoying some pastries, and a few University students working on their laptops with earbuds in. Jimin was bussing a table when the door chimed, “Hello! Welcome to Pressed.” He called over his shoulder, he quickly finished picking up all the empty cups, looping his fingers through the handles of the mugs, before turning around.
“Gukkie!” Taehyung yelled as he half ran half walked around the counter to greet his boyfriend with a hug.
“Hey Guk.” The older said over his shoulder while putting the dirty dishes into the sink.
Jeongguk shot Jimin a quick wave, “Hi, Jim.” He struggled to say under Taehyung’s grip.
“The usual?” Jimin asked as he returned to his place behind the register.
Taehyung finally released the younger, realizing he was still at work. Jeongguk nodded before he was interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat. “Oh yeah! Guy’s this is my new roommate. I found him on craigslist and he promised he’s not a serial killer so don’t worry.” The brown-haired boy teased.
“I’m Yoongi, and he did not find me on Craigslist. He put an ad up on the campus forum.”
Taehyung laughed, “That doesn’t necessarily guarantee you’re not a serial killer. Just a serial killer who’s trying to get a college education.”
Yoongi shrugged, “That’s true. I guess he’ll just have to trust me.”
“If were being honest, he’s twice your double size and could easily kick your ass.” The gray-haired boy added.
“You’re not making a good first impression, Tae.” Jeongguk teased.
Jimin had zoned out, thinking about the mint-haired boy as he aimlessly fidgeted with the display next to the register.
“Jimin? Did you hear that?” Taehyung said while scooping ice into a glass.
“Huh?” The blonde shook his head slightly, “No, sorry.”
“Guk’s roommate wants and large iced matcha latte.” He replied.
“Yoongi.” Jeongguk corrected.
“Gotcha.” Jimin responded turning to the oldest, “For here or to go?”
“Ah, still to go.” Yoongi replied shyly, messing with the back of his neck.
Jimin could feel his cheeks getting warm as he fumbled to grab a cup from the stack next to him. He quickly made the older’s drink. “Here you go.” He said, handing the latte over the counter.
“Thanks.” The mint-haired boy said with a slight smile. He looked down to check the clock on his phone. “Shit,” he muttered under his breath. “Jeongguk, I have to go. I’m going to be late.” He said with a wave on his way out the door.
Jeongguk looked to his clock and back to his friends. “I should probably go too. I’ll see you guys later.”
“Bye bitch.” Taehyung replied.
Jimin noticed the elderly couple look up and quickly shushed him.
“Love you too.” Jeongguk replied dryly.
“Bye Guk!” Jimin said with a sweet smile and a wave.
“Goodbye Chim. You’re the only boy I will ever trust.” The youngest replied dramatically.
Jungkook had just opened the door when Tae quickly ran around the counter before grabbing Jeongguk and giving him a quick peck on the lips.
With that, he was out the door and Taehyung worked his way back around the counter. “You two are incredibly gross” Jimin grumbled teasingly.
“You’re just jealous” Taehyung teased back, “speaking of being madly in love… Yoongi’s cute huh? Think he’s single?”
“Huh?” Jimin fumbled with the cups he was currently washing, Tae laughed as Jimin got his composure back. “Are you worried about him stealing Jeongguk?”
Taehyung laughed and ruffled Jimin’s blonde wavy hair “Hilarious, I meant for you.” He said with an eyebrow wiggle. “You stared at him for like, two minutes straight, it’s pretty obvious you think he’s cute, Chim”
“His hairs nice” Jimin mumbled under his breath. Did he really just stare at him? Did he notice? Did it make him uncomfortable? Did he like it? Does he like him?
“Just his hair?”
“His eyes are pretty I guess” Jimin continued.
“Just his eyes? Just his hair? Really? That’s all you noticed?” Tae teased, reaching past Jimin to grab a cup for the online order that just came in.
“Fine!” Jimin threw his hands up, turning to face Taehyung, “All of him is nice” He finally admitted, feeling his face turn pink.
Tae simply laughed as the door chimed, “So you like him?”
“I’ve met him once! I don’t even know him Tae” Jimin whispered as he worked his way to the takeaway counter.
“That’s fair. That’ll have to be fixed” Taehyung mumbled, shooting a text to Jeongguk before getting back to work.

Jimin and Taehyung arrived at Jeongguk’s apartment at around 7:30, promising they’d help, only to get there and have there be nothing to set up.
“So uh, we didn’t have any time to get stuff, and by stuff, I mean anything at all” Jeongguk says with a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Guk!” Taehyung whined, slumping down onto the couch, well, more like into the couch. It was pretty old.
“C’mon, I thought Yoongi would be back earlier and then we could go, but he still isn’t home, as you can see” Guk responded, sitting down on the chair opposite Taehyung and gesturing for Jimin to sit as well.
“Where is Yoongi anyway?” Jimin asked as he took a seat on the arm of the couch, it may have made a creaking noise but if anyone heard it they ignored it.
There was a buzz and Guk shot up, he walked to the door and pressed the camera, “Speak of the devil, he must of not brought his swipe card.”
A few minutes later the door opened to a tired and breathless Yoongi. “I shit you not, I got chased… By a fucking… dog”
Yoongi began the long story of how he was so close to their apartment building but as he turned the corner to the main entrance a dog approached him, so he pet it, but when he tried to go inside it started barking and growling before chasing him around for entirely too long.
“Well I hate to say this, but you really should learn to face your fears, and yanno go back outside” Jeonguk started but was cut off by Yoongi.
“No fucking way. That thing was mad as shit.”
“We didn’t go shopping Yoons. You gotta go back out.” Guk explained.
“Besides, Jimin can go with you” Tae added.
At the sound of his name Jimin realized he had been staring but drew his gaze away to look at Tae. “What? Why me? Shouldn’t Guk go?”
“Guk is gonna be busy Chim, cmon, pretty please, I won’t have to kick you out tonight if you go” Tae teased.
Next thing he knew Jimin was walking down the hallway with Yoongi. He suddenly felt nervous, he didn’t know him at all. What if he was a serial killer? He realized he wouldn’t really mind if Yoongi killed him if someone had to, but it would still suck. He’s just so pretty… and short? Jimin hadn’t noticed how short Yoongi really is.
Yoongi broke the silence, subsequently interrupting Jimin’s thoughts. “So uh, where are we going?” The older asked, looking at the other.
“Uh there’s a convenience store about a mile away.” He looked at his phone to check the bus schedule. “The next bus should be here in like 10 minutes, so we should hurry up.”
They quickly made their way to the bus stop with five minutes to spare. “So what made you decide to move in with Gukkie?” Jimin asked after a couple silent moments had past.
“Well, my old roommate was kind of an asshole. Jeongguk seemed nice and, plus, the rent was a lot cheaper.” He replied.
“Oh, that’s nice.” Jimin said half-heartedly not sure the conversation was going anywhere. “Do you like it so far? The new apartment?”
“Yeah. My room has like three outlets. At my old place there was one and it only worked half the time.” He said with a chuckle. “I had to run an extension cord from the kitchen to plug my computer in.”
Jimin laughed, “Yikes, good thing too. Gukkie has so many appliances in his-uh your guys’ kitchen, I don’t think you’d be able to find a spare.”
“That’s true. I’m sure it’s a fire hazard.” Yoongi added. “What I wanna know is why he bothers with a Keurig. He seems to get coffee at your guys’ shop every day.”
Jimin shrugged, “We’re not open 24/7.” Right as he finished the bus pulled up. Jimin watched as Yoongi fished through his pockets.
“Shit, I forgot my pass,” The older said, continuing to search his jacket, “and I literally have no cash on me.” He groaned. “Sorry, Chim. I’ll run back. When’s the next bus leave?”
Jimin tried to hide his blush from this nickname. “The next bus leaves at 9:45.” He heard Yoongi sigh. “We’re not waiting here for two hours.” The blonde chuckled, “I have cash. I’ll pay for you. Just buy me coffee sometime or something.”
“Okay, thanks.” Yoongi said as he followed Jimin onto the crowded bus.
The bus ride there was mostly silent. It was too crowded to keep a conversation. They were squashed together between passengers who flooded the bus in the heart of the business district. Jimin was used to the lack of personal space that was public transportation, but his stomach still knotted up at the thought of it being Yoongi he was pressed up against. When their stop was coming up, he squeezed through to pull the signal cord. The trip to the front of the bus was a struggle. Almost nobody except for the two boys were getting off there.
“We barely made it out of there alive.” The older huffed. “I swear some guy was ready to beat my twink lookin’ ass when I bumped into him.” He teased.
Jimin laughed and his eyes scrunched up. “I’d be impressed if he was able to make a shot at you without elbowing anyone else in the process.” He said as they both headed up the sidewalk. “It’s just a little bit further this way.”
“So how much do we need?” Jimin asked as they browsed the liquor isle.
“Well, it’s us four plus three I think. So, like three bottles?” The older replied, picking up a bottle of Absolut.
“So, like five?” Jimin said. Yoongi looked over to him confused. “I can polish off a bottle of that by myself, so we’re gonna need at least five.” He said grabbing another off the shelf. “We prolly need a cart right? Should we grab a couple packs of these Smirnoff’s too?” Jimin asked looking over to the mint haired boy who was completely shocked.
“Uh, yeah sure. I’ll go grab a cart.” He said still taken back.
“What should we do for snacks? The younger shouted across the store, with his arms wrapped around four bottles. “We might need cups and plates too.” He muttered to himself. “I doubt they’ll want to do dishes tomorrow.”
Yoongi returned with the bottle he had chosen already in the cart. Jimin threw the four he had in before grabbing three of the six packs he talked about earlier and placing them in the cart as well.
Jimin hadn’t really thought about the bus ride back to the apartment when he threw everything into the cart. He had Jeongguk’s card though, so he couldn’t help himself. The ride back wasn’t too bad though. He ended up having to call Taehyung for help, because one of the bags had ripped.
“Jesus Christ, Chim. How much was this? Gukkie’s gonna kill you guys.” Taehyung asked when he met up with them.
“That’s why I got so much.” Jimin laughed, “And judging by the state of your neck, he’ll be in a good mood.”
Yoongi chuckled as the silver haired boys face grew more red.
Tae, who was still flustered said, “Yoongi, your friends got here like ten minutes ago by the way.”
A bit more of Taehyung’s complaining and an elevator ride later they made to Yoongi and Jeongguk’s shared apartment and were opening the door.
“Yoongi!!” Jimin watched as a boy about Taehyungs height with fire truck red hair ran up to them, arms open for a hug. Arms that Yoongi simply filled with the bags he had been carrying.
“Carry these to the kitchen?” Yoongi asked.
The younger frowned, “Sure, but I’m getting that hug when I come back.”
As they shuffled in Jimin looked around the room, there was a very tall boy with orange hair sitting on a stool at the island. The red head that Yoongi handed his bags over to was trying to set things down and put things into the fridge with Taehyung. Meanwhile Jeongguk was currently in a discussion with another dark-haired boy.
Yoongi came up next to him and introduced the group. “I assume you’ve never met these three before so, the carrot top is Namjoon, he’s a big ol’ softie, the one Jeongguk is talking to is Jin, they’ve met before when Jin helped me move in, and” Yoongi was interrupted when the boy with bright hair came up and hugged him, picking him up in the process.
“My name’s Jung Hoseok, but you can call me Hobi” He said, still holding Yoongi off the ground.
“Please put me down.” Yoongi struggled to say under Hoseok’s tight grip. The younger complied.
Yoongi let out a deep breath. “I’m sure you guys have already met these two, but for formality this is Jeongguk and his boyfriend Taehyung.” He said gesturing towards each boy. “And this is Jimin.”
Jimin smiled and waved before awkwardly making his way over to the island where the alcohol was sitting. “Ah,” he chuckled “Shots anyone?”
Two hours in and they were all fucking wasted.
“Hey Cookie,” Taehyung dragged out, “Let’s play beer pong with the Smirnoff’s. Chim!” He shouted from the kitchen to the couch where Jimin was sitting. “You and Yoongi can play against us.”
Jimin sat there for a few seconds before replying trying to wrap his head around what his friend was saying. “What are we talking about?”
“Beer pong! Me and Gukkie verses you and Yoongi.” He replied already clearing the island off.
The blonde looked over at Yoongi who was sitting on the chair diagonal to him. The older boy shrugged. “Sure. Sorry in advanced, though. I’ve never played.”
Yoongi is apparently very good at beer pong, and Jimin found himself congratulating his partner with a hug when he made a straight shot into the front cup. “Min Yoongi!” He’d shout every time the older made a shot. They laughed, and the blonde leaned on Yoongi’s shoulder burying his head into his neck while giggling. They won with over half their cups still on the table.
Everything was starting to die down. “I’m gonna head to bed.” Jeongguk yawned before turning to his boyfriend, “Are you staying Tae Tae?”
Taehyung looked over to Jimin, “Are you good if I stay Chim?”
The older boy nodded, “Yeah. Have fun.”
“Alright goodnight guys. It was nice meeting you all.” The youngest said.
“Nice meeting ya’ll” Taehyung added as they both made their way to Jeongguk’s room.
“Yeah we prolly should head out too.” Namjoon said, stumbling while standing up.
Jimin ran over to Hosoek, practically sitting on his lap while he hugged him goodbye. “It was so nice meeting on you guys!” The blonde said peeling himself off the red head to give Namjoon and Jin hugs.
Hoseok giggled, “It was nice meeting you too Jiminie.”
Jin ruffled the blonde’s hair while Hobi made his way to hug Yoongi goodbye.
Yoongi closed the door before plopping down next to Jimin on the couch with a huff. The younger set his head on Yoongi’s shoulder. “So, Chim, you want me to walk you home, or do you just wanna crash here?”
“I’m too tired to walk home.” He mumbled.
“Alright, you can sleep in my bed.” Yoongi said helping Jimin get up. They made their way through the door. “Don’t mind the mess. I’m not done unpacking yet.”
The younger face planted into the bed, slowly pulling his legs up to meet his torso. “Thanks, Yoonnie.” He said, his words slightly muffled by a pillow. Yoongi pulled a blanket over the younger before grabbing one for himself along with a pillow. He made his way back to living room, laid down on the couch, and passed the fuck out.
_________________________
Jimin woke up the next morning in an unfamiliar bed. The boy groggily sat up. He remembered someone helping him get here, but he doesn’t remember who exactly. Common sense, however, told him that this is Yoongi’s bed and he’s the one who helped him. Jimin noticed that his phone was sitting on the nightstand plugged it along with a bottle of water. He chugged the whole bottle in one go before checking the time.
A small neon yellow sticky note was stuck to the back on his phone case. It had a phone number written on it along with Text for that coffee I owe you -Yoongi. Jimin felt his cheeks get warm. The giddiness he had from the note gave him enough energy to drag his lifeless body out of bed. He went to the bathroom and splashed cold water on his face, hoping to tone down the puffiness in his eyes.
“Honestly if I didn’t know any better, I’d say couple goals.” Jeongguk said as Jimin entered the room.
Taehyung hit his boyfriend’s shoulder lightly. “Shut up.” He teased. “Oh, hey Chim.” The gray-haired boy said pulling a bottle of orange juice out of the fridge. “Juice?” He asked shaking the container.
Jimin shook his head and rubbed his eyes. “I’m gonna head back to the apartment. I desperately need a shower. Do you know where I left my keys?” He paused before spotting them on one of the end tables and grabbing them. “Where’s Yoongi?”
“Uh, I’m not sure.” Jeongguk said groggily. “He was gone when we got up.”
“You didn’t wake up when he got up?” Taehyung asked, knowing what a light sleeper Jimin was.
“I’m pretty positive he slept on the couch.” The oldest replied.
“Lame. I was hoping to get some juice.” He said sitting down next to Jeongguk.
“I’m sorry to disappoint.” Jimin said sarcastically. “I really should go though. It’s open gym at the studio today, and I wanna get there before all the mirror space is taken.”
“Enjoy!” The youngest shouted as the blonde waved goodbye on his way out the door.
Jimin had a routine for open studio days. He woke up and got dressed. He didn’t want to waste any time warming his muscles up in the studio, so he ran to the athletics building. No part of his routine included stopping to talk to the boy he had clung onto the night prior, who was staring blankly, his pen floating above his notebook, on one of the many benches across campus.
“Chim.” Yoongi shouted as the younger ran past. Jimin turned towards the sound. He jogged over when he realized where it had come from. “What’s the word that means irregular but has a positive connotation?”
“Um, meandering?” Jimin replied.
“Not that positive.” He trailed off, biting the end of his pen.
“Context?” The younger asked.
“Like freely chaotic.”
“Wayward?”
“Yes.” The mint haired boy shouted, seeming rather pissed at himself for not being able to figure it out. “Thanks, Chim.” He said as he scribbled something down in his notebook.
Jimin checked the time on his phone. “I really have to go,” He started running again but turned around to add, “but I’ll talk you later Yoonie.”
Jimin got there later than he was hoping to, but luckily his usual spot was empty. He was about to put in his headphones when I familiar voice said his name. “Hobi?”
“Hey, Jimin.” The older boy said with sweat dripping down the side of his forehead. “Not to sound like I’m coming on to you or anything, but do you come here often?” He chuckled. “I thought you looked familiar, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you here before.”
“I come to every open gym.” The blonde laughed shyly.
Hoseok laughed back awkwardly, “Sorry.” He paused and perked up, “Any chance you were thinking of auditioning for the dance ensemble?” He said, swinging his backpack onto one shoulder. “I just printed out the fliers with all the info.” He reached in a pulled out a sheet of paper and held it out to Jimin. “Take one. Auditions aren’t for, like, two more months, so you have plenty of prep time.”
Jimin took the sheet from the boy’s hand and folded it up to fit in his drawstring bag. “Thanks.” The younger said with a smile.
“Joon’s waiting for me,” The red-haired boy said as he zipped his bag back up, “so I have to dash. See ya later.”
Jimin made his way to his usual spot, put in his headphones, and stretched out his sore, hungover muscles. He tried working on his pirouettes, but his head felt to cloudy to spot, so he stuck to switching between one-minute planks and balancing.
A few hours had passed, and different groups had cycled in and out of the studio, when Jimin was interrupted by his phone.
“Hello?” He answered.
“Jimin you’ve been there for like three hours now. You should really come home.” His best friend said slightly worried.
“Tae, I’m fine, really.” The older said through heavy breaths.
“Yeah but you’re hungover and I know your breakfast and lunch consisted of a protein bar, so get your ass home. I’m making spicy ramen.”
“Fine.” He said with a sigh. “I’m leaving now.”
“Okay. Love you Chim. See you in a little bit.”
Jimin was a little disappointed when he got outside and it was raining. There was a small part of him that was hoping Yoongi would still be out there working on whatever it was he was doing earlier. He pulled out his umbrella and made the short walk back to his and Taehyung’s apartment.
“So, my dick appointment is here tonight. Do you mind?” The younger boy said as Jimin walked through the door.
“Jesus Christ Tae, At least let me get my shoes off first.” The older said shutting and locking the door behind him. The gray-haired boy stared at his roommate, waiting for an answer. Jimin groaned, “Just keep it down please. I have a pretty big test Monday in psych and I would like to study.”
“We’ll try our best. I promise.”
Jimin scoffed and headed towards to bathroom.
_________________________
I don’t think they’re trying at all. Jimin thought as he turned the volume up on his phone. He really couldn’t concentrate at all. The walls in this apartment were thin and he could hear everything that was happening in the other room. Jimin checked the time. “2:42 AM” he muttered to himself. They had been going at it on and off for over an hour now and they didn’t seem like they were stopping any time soon. Jimin thought of his options. He could try the library, but honestly, he hates it there. Outside would be too dark. He didn’t really have many choices since everything was closed.
Hey Yoongi are you up? [2:45AM]
Oh. This is Jimin btw. [2:45AM]
[2:46AM] Yeah, what’s up?
Your roommate and my roommate have been going at it over here for like and hour and a half and I really need to study. Do you mind if I come over? [2:47AM]
[2:47AM] Come on over.
Thanks c: [2:47AM]
[2:48AM] Just text me when you get here. Please don’t ring that fucking buzzer. The sound drives me insane.
Gotcha. See you in like 10 min [2:49AM]
Here [3:02AM]
A few moments later the door clicked and Jimin made his way up to Jeongguk and Yoongi’s apartment.
“Morning.” The older boy said groggily as he opened the door. Jimin followed him inside. “I’m making coffee. I’m assuming you want a cup?” Jimin nodded sleepily. “Cream or sugar?” Yoongi asked.
“Black is fine. I don’t even care about anything anymore.” The younger boy said, throwing himself down at one of the stools at the island and setting his bag down.
“What’s the test on?”
“Behaviorism.” Jimin mumbled. “It’s not hard. I’m just worried because it’s the first test in this class. I wanna make a good impression y’know?” He said with a yawn.
Yoongi set Jimin’s coffee down in front of him and slid the boy’s notes over so he could read them. “Do you want me to help?”
“Aren’t you busy?”
“Nah. My sleep schedule is just fucked.”
Jimin chuckled lightly, “Then, yeah, help would be great.”
“Alright, then.” He said scanning the page, “What is behaviorism?”
“It’s a form a psychology that studies something that can be measured a.k.a. behavior.”
“And” The older prompted.
“It assumes behavior requires some sort of stimulus or reinforcement.”
“Eh,” Yoongi paused rereading, “Basically yeah.”
This went on for over an hour until Yoongi made Jimin stop. “You’re not learning anything when you’re this fucking tired, Chim.” Jimin was easily convinced. He was also pretty done with Watson and Skinner’s bullshit. “You can crash here again.”
“Thanks, Yoon.” The blonde mumbled.
“Not on the island though. I’d offer Jeongguk’s bed, but he hasn’t washed the sheets since last night. You can stay in my room again, though.”
“You don’t have to sleep on the couch. There’s enough room for both of us.”
“I cuddle in my sleep, though.”
Jimin shrugged, still hunched over with his cheek pressed onto the counter. “There’s AC. I don’t care.”
Yoongi’s cheeks were slightly flushed. “You can go ahead then, Jimin. I’m still pretty awake so I’m gonna work on my book or something.”
The blonde boy slid his arm up to prop his chin on his hand. “Your what?” He said with as much excitement his body could muster.
“It’s nothing, Chim. Go to bed.” The older replied shyly.
Jimin was now sitting up completely. “What’s it about?”
“It’s honestly nothing.”
“Is that what you were working on yesterday?”
The mint haired boy rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, kinda.”
“So, it is something?” Jimin shot back. His eyes lit up, “Can I read some?”
“Nobody has ever read it ever and I doubt anyone ever will.”
“Why not?”
“Listen, if I promise you’ll be the first person to read it if it gets finished, will you go to bed?”
“You mean when it gets finished.”
Yoongi laughed, “You seem to have a lot of faith, even though you have no idea what it’s even about. It could be complete shit. I could just scrap the whole thing.”
“I saw your bookshelf yesterday morning. I’m hoping you got at least some inspiration from those authors. There’s a couple there I haven’t read. Mind if I borrow them?”
The older boy shook his head with a smile, “Go to bed, Jimin.”
Jimin woke up to the sound of his alarm and Yoongi’s arm wrapped around him. He pressed snooze. A few more minutes won’t hurt. The next time Jimin woke up the situation was the same, but he was late as fuck. He jumped out of bed pulling off the pajama pants the older had let him borrow.
He heard a groan as he put on the black jeans he was wearing the night before. “Jimin? What the fuck are you doing.”
“Do you have a white button up I could borrow? I’m late as shit.” He said frantically.
“Closet.” The older replied, reluctantly getting out of bed. “I’ll get it.” He said walking to Jimin’s side. “There’s an extra toothbrush under the sink. Go finish getting ready.”
Jimin finished up in the bathroom and slipped on the shirt that Yoongi handed him. He thought he had seen the older boy glancing at him, but he was in too much of a hurry to care. He rushed out the door thanking Yoongi for everything.
“You look like shit, Jimin.” One of his coworkers pointed out when he was clocking in.
“I woke up late.” Jimin panted, slightly winded from his sprint there.
“Well, we’re already slammed. We have like five mobile orders and seven to-go.”
“Great.” He huffed.
One hour and about a hundred drinks later, things had started to die down again. He sighed to himself when he heard the bell ring for the door but was relieved with the familiar faces. “Iced matcha latte?” He asked.
“Actually, can I get an iced dark roast with cream and sugar.”
“Sure thing, Yoonie.” He said writing the order down on the to-go cup. Namjoon eyed Yoongi at the pet name. “and you Joon?”
“Oh, um,” He scanned the menu, “Can I just get an iced macchiato?”
“Gotcha.”
“How you holdin’ up?” Yoongi asked.
Jimin poured the coffee into the ice filled cup. “I’ve been worse. This is definitely top ten, though. You said cream and sugar, right?”
The older boy nodded.
“Thanks, again, for helping me last night.” Jimin said as he handed the boy’s coffee over. “And for the shirt.” He added with a chuckle.
“No problem.”
Namjoon filled the awkward silence that was starting to take over, “Hobi told me he ran into you at the dance studio yesterday.”
“Yeah, he was on his way out when I got there.”
“You thinking of auditioning for dance ensemble?” the orange-haired boy asked, as Jimin handed him his drink.
“I’m not sure, honestly. I don’t know if I’ll have time between work and school.”
“You dance?” the oldest asked.
The blonde chuckled, “I used to. Now I just make time to do some exercises during open gym. I haven’t, like, actually danced since before summer started.”
“Why not?” Yoongi asked, glancing at the door to see if anyone else was coming in, he didn’t want Jimin to get in trouble for talking on the job.
“I can’t find anywhere that I can have a studio to myself, yanno? Open gym is good for working on things but you can’t actually dance with twenty other people in the room.” Jimin explained, walking over and taking the tab from the online ordering center.
“Oh.. yeah I get it. That sucks.” Yoongi mumbled.
Jimin was about to tell him how it was okay and he would figure something out but a group of moms with their children walked in. “I gotta get these people, I’ll see you later?”
Yoongi smiled, “Yeah, have fun with that group” He threw his change in the tip jar before turning to Namjoon. “Hey, I’m gonna stay here and work on some stuff. You can go ahead without me.”
“Okay, I’ll see you later then.” The younger said, making his way towards the door.
A couple hours and quite a few refills for Yoongi later, Jimin was off and on his way to Yoongi’s table.
“So.. Whatcha workin’ on?” He asked, plopping down next to the seemingly aggravated boy.
“Huh..?” Yoongi immediately shut his laptop and turned to face Jimin, “It’s not really anything right now.”
Jimin immediately perked up, despite his post shift exhaustion, “It’s your book!”
Yoongi couldn’t help but smile at the jovial excitement beaming from the blonde next to him, “Yeah, but you can’t see it” He explained, placing his laptop back in his bag.
“You mean I can’t see it yet, right? You’re gonna let me read it as soon as its finished?” Jimin was almost bouncing in his seat.
“Sure, Chim.” Yoongi said dismissively. “Is your shift over?”
“Yep.” The younger said slumping down into the booth. “I can go, if you want to keep working.”
“Nah, it’s fine. I was stuck anyways. Staring at the screen isn’t going to help.”
“Can I at least get a hint for what it’s about?”
Yoongi ignored his question, “You should try out for that dance thing.”
“Dance ensemble?”
“Yeah. Hobi only joined for empty studio time which is what you want, right?”
“I do miss it.” Jimin sighed, “I just don’t think I’d have time.”
Yoongi shrugged, “Do whatever you want. I just think you’d like it.”
“I know I would. I just don’t want my grades to slip.”
“C’s get degrees, Chim.”
“Speaking of, I really should go study.” Jimin said, standing up.
“Psych?”
“Yup.” The younger said with a huff.
“Let me know if you need any help again.”
“I should be good but thanks.” Jimin said with a smile.
“See you later then.” Yoongi called as the blonde made his way towards the door.
“Bye, Yoonie. Good luck with your book.”
The older sighed, pulling his laptop back out and putting his headphones in.
Jimin thought about the audition on his way home. He really didn’t have much time to decide. If he was going to do it, he’d have to start working on the choreography now. There’s no harm in at least coming up with something in case I do decide to, he thought to himself. I’ll need studio time, though.
I know I just left but could you send me Hobi’s number? [5:52PM]
[6:00PM] Sure thing
[6:01PM] *contact attachment*
Thank you <3 [6:01PM]
Jimin spent his mornings in class, his afternoons at the café, and his evenings in the studio with Hoseok. Coffee with Yoongi became a part of his daily routine. If he wasn’t working, he was there doing homework, as the older tapped away at his laptop.
“How’s practice going?” Yoongi asked one day.
“Good, I think. I’m tweaking some parts right now.”
“Hobi told me he likes the style of your movements. He’s hoping you make it, ‘cause he’s been working on something and thinks you’d be a good duo partner.”
“Really?” Jimin beamed, before shyly coiling back. “The nights we spend practicing makes me remember why I love it so much. It feels like when I first started again. It’s just so carefree.” Yoongi smiled, as the younger continued, “I’ve never tried to choreograph. It feels so personal. It’s crazy performing something that you created. I’ve done plenty of dances before, but it’s different when you’re telling your own story. It just feels really,” he paused, “raw y’know?” Jimin realized he probably sounded pretentious, but he couldn’t help rambling. He had missed dancing so much and having it back excited him.
“I get it, yeah.” Yoongi replied.
“Is that what writings like? I always like to know a bit about an author before I read a book, so I know, like, where the story’s coming from.”
The mint-haired boy nodded, “I think all good books deal with humanity in some way. The vulnerability of letting something have human truth, no matter how far off the subject matter is, is what I love about it. I have a bad habit of focusing on characters more than the actual plot, but I love them. It’s like they get to be more me than I do.” He paused taking a sip of his drink, “Does that make sense?”
Everything Yoongi said made him that much more endearing. “Yeah. I feel more like myself when I dance than any other time.”
Many weeks and coffees later, it was the morning of auditions. Jimin was anxiously pacing around his apartment, blasting his audition track through his headphones. He marked the movements with each repeat of the song, taking mental notes every time. His phone buzzed in his pocket.
[4:31PM] Good luck today, Chimi.
He grinned, his eyes squinting as he read the text. Jimin felt silly for how flustered the nickname made him, but he couldn’t help it. Hanging out with Yoongi so much lately has made him grow fond of the older. He loved their time together. Talking to him felt like reconnecting with a childhood friend where you pick up right where you left off. They talked about nothing and everything.
