Work Text:

It was another normal night of sneaking out for Jimin, he knew if he was caught he would be punished severely but that never stopped him from leaving his house at the strike of 2 in the morning once the only noise in the household was snoring. He quickly jumped the fence like he was taught and walked quietly yet quickly through the forest. The path already so used that the grass that once occupied the path was gone and in it’s trail was nothing but dirt. His heart stopped beating rapidly once he crossed the entrance of trees because he knew no one would be able to find him except the person he was going to meet.

Jimin smiled as he saw the treehouse overhead. It might be childish that every night he went to a treehouse but he didn’t care because it wasn’t the location that mattered to him but the man inside the house that made a bright smile take over his face. He looked to his back to see that no one was following him before climbing up the old ladder quickly and being met with a bright dimpled smile. He climbed into the house and closed the lock quickly before crawling over to the older and resting in his lap. He didn’t understand how his parents could not like Namjoon.

“How was your classes today baby? Was anyone picking on you? I’m sorry I can’t be there but stupid Cunthase gave me detention for breaking that guys nose when he totally deserved it because who would dare talk smack to my angel who deserves nothing but utter happi-” Namjoon was cut off by plump lips smashing against his own with such force that surprised him so much that his mouth opened slightly and Jimin used his chance to slide his tongue into the olders mouth. The two fought for dominance for a bit before Namjoon decided to let Jimin have a moment of dominance since he still felt bad for being put in detention.

The couple stayed making out for a few minutes before Jimin pulled away and rested his forehead on Namjoon’s. He smiled at the older and stared into his beautiful eyes that showed nothing but utter adoration for the male who was in his lap. It was hard for Namjoon not to love Jimin, he was the embodiment of an angel. The orange haired male managed to light up the darkest room with one small smile as if he was an angel and sometimes on nights like these Namjoon thanks whatever gods existed for him to be able to have that man in his lap and have him love him as much as Namjoon loved him.

“What were you thinking about Joon?” Jimin asked quietly and Namjoon chuckled as he tightened his grip around the younger and held him close to his chest so he could hear how fast his heart was beating. His heart only ever beat for Jimin and Jimin only. Never in his life had he loved someone as much as he loved the man who was staring at him like he was the only thing that mattered in the world and Jimin always made sure to let Namjoon know how much he mattered to him.

“I was thinking about how much everything has changed but how I’m not as scared as before because I have you by my side.” Namjoon said with a soft smile as he started to think back to their past and how everything changed so quickly for them all because of one party on one night.

They had met back in the 3rd year, Namjoon had just moved schools and houses and now was living in Busan instead of in his hometown of Ilsan. He had left behind a lot of friends and was saddened by it because he had to leave behind his closest friend, Jackson, who had been with Namjoon since birth since they were next door neighbors there whole life until Namjoon left. He was truly heartbroken but everything changed when he saw Jimin. Even as a kid Jimin was one of the most handsome people Namjoon had ever seen but it took Namjoon a whole 4 years to talk to him.

They had first talked when they were on a field trip to a farm. They were paired up as partners which meant that Namjoon had to talk to the pretty boy that he had been crushing on for four years. He would go to everyone of Jimin’s games and dance concerts but he never stayed long enough for Jimin to notice him there or so he had thought. Jimin was the one who had started up the conversation with simply stating that he had wished that he would stay longer after his events so he could of talked to him. Namjoon was in utter shock that his crush had noticed him but after a few unsuccessful tries at replying, the older just decided that it would be better to write out his response. They had went through all the pages of the notebook. It was for sure the best day of Namjoon’s life.

They had exchanged numbers and had become friends quickly and stayed friends for years but Jimin’s parents never liked Namjoon. Their excuse was that he was not normal at all because he was too smart. The friends didn’t know why they were always so rude to him but they just knew that they would have to hide their friendship and that was what they did until the back to school party in 11th year.

That party had changed everything for them and their relationship. They were both planning to attend the party like they always did for any party that the popular kids hosted. Jimin got an easy invite since he was popular and obviously the populars need all the populars there so they could say that it was “The best party of their grade level”. Namjoon was a different case, he was invited by his popular friend Jin who had been friends with the younger because Namjoon helped him in certain subjects and made sure to protect him and his underclassmen friends from upperclassmen bullies.

The party was fine until Namjoon saw that Jimin was drunk out of his mind. He was confused because in all the parties they went to, Jimin never drank because he said it was too risky because someone could try something and he was right. While Jimin was dancing drunkly with one of his dancer friends, Hoseok, a 12th year came up behind him and started to dance closely to him. Jimin and Hoseok tried to move away but more 12th years came and surrounded the two. Namjoon could feel his blood boiling and he quickly made eye contact with Jimin who was trying to push through the wall of upperclassmen.

Namjoon didn’t realize he was moving until he felt his fist come in contact with skin. His body felt on fire and he was quickly punching all the people who had been bullying his best friend, his..what really was Jimin to Namjoon? The older knew that watching someone else touch Jimin had made his blood boil but that could just be him being overprotective of his friend. He could hear people screaming at him to stop but he couldn’t for some odd reason. The only voice that broke through his barriers was Jimin’s soft but shaky voice.

“Namjoon please. Stop please. It’s fine. I’m fine. Please.” The younger male pleaded as he grabbed Namjoon’s hand and held it tightly to his chest. He unclasped the fist that was covered in blood from both the other people and Namjoon. Jimin intertwined their fingers and forced the older to look at him. Once seeing Jimin it was as if he snapped out of his trance. Everyone was staring at them in shock.

“Why is Jimin touching that nerd?”

“When that Namjoon get violent?”

“What is even going on?”

Jimin quickly rushed the older out of the house and down the road, Jimin didn’t stop until he saw a bench that was placed under a singular street lamp. Namjoon allowed the younger to drag him away still trying to figure out what happened, his knuckles hurt but his mind focused on the feeling of Jimin’s small hand in his own. It was everything Namjoon wanted and maybe, just maybe Namjoon did like Jimin more than he was supposed to but would he admit that he had liked him since the third grade, no probably not.

“Namjoon why did you do that?” Jimin asked as he ripped off a piece of his cardigan and used it to wrap around the older’s bleeding knuckles. He was still in shock because he had never seen Namjoon hurt a fly but the older had just taken down 14 guys in the span of 5 minutes. Jimin had heard stories about Namjoon fighting to protect people but he had never seen it but now that he did, he was- Jimin didn’t know how he felt at all. He knew he should be scared but for some reason those feelings that he tried so desperately to bury where coming up.

“You were in danger. That guy was...he was touching you in a way that you didn’t like and well I didn’t like it either.” Namjoon had said softly as he watched the younger wrap his knuckles quickly and efficiently as if he knew how to do it and then he remembered that before Jungkook became a boxer he was a street fighter and found regularly not wear wraps. Namjoon didn’t realize he was leaning forward but when Jimin looked up from tying the wrap, their lips touched quickly but softly.

“Namjoon.”

“Jimin.”

“I like you.” The duo froze before bursting out into giggles because of course when both gain the courage to confess they would manage to do it at the same time. Jimin smiled as he leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on the olders lips. Nothing but soft and affectionate kisses were shared that night and soon they decided to start meeting at night in a treehouse that they had found one day years ago. That tree house became their sanctuary, the place where they could love freely and without any worry of being caught because no one but them two knew about it.

As news of Namjoon’s fighting skills spread through the school, people started to pick on Jimin so they could rile Namjoon up and see if his skills were as great as the rumors and they were. Namjoon didn’t care that he was getting in trouble because all that mattered to him was Jimin and that person was all that would ever matter to him.

“It was a wild night.” Jimin said with a chuckle and Namjoon nodded with a smile as he buried his face in Jimin’s neck and breathed in the cherry blossom scent that always surrounded him. Jimin did the same and calmly breathed the scent of roses that Namjoon always managed to smell like. They loved each other and it was as simple as that.

Hours soon passed and they were awoken by the clock in the treehouse going off signaling that it was time for them to head back to their homes and sleep for a few more hours before going back to school and repeating the daily schedule. School, homework, sleep, treehouse, sleep, repeat.

They climbed down slowly and soon went their separate ways but not without a parting kiss. It was always the saddest part of the day when they had to leave each other. It was as if they were leaving a part of themselves but they knew that in a few hours they will see each other at school and everything will be fine.

School was the same as always for Jimin but he missed Namjoon because the older was still in detention for fighting Jungwoo but it was his last day there. They had briefly seen each other before classes started but they lost each other in the crowd. The couple met up on the roof of the school so they could do some studying before they had to depart from each other again but they knew that later they would meet up.

“I love you Jimin. You own my whole heart and sometimes I feel like you might break it but I trust you.” Namjoon said dramatically as he clasped his chest and pretended to die as he slid down the wall and rested his head in the youngers lap. Jimin chuckled as he rolled his eyes and forced the older softly out of his lap because he was getting a call from his parents. Namjoon frowned as he got up and followed the boy. He wrapped his arms around the younger and rested his head on Jimin’s back.

“I’m still at school mother but I will be home soon. Father is coming home? That’s peculiar. Alright. I will pack up now and head home. Goodbye.” Jimin was confused because his dad never came home, his dad worked at a company in Seoul and stayed up there all the time since they provided him with an apartment. They were supposed to move up there but Jimin protested saying it would be weird and to just let him finish off high school in Busan.

“Your dad is never home though. It’s not your birthday and even then he doesn’t come. It isn’t a holiday...I wonder why he’s here.” Namjoon said as he let go of Jimin and walked over to where they were sitting so he could help the younger pack up. Within minutes they were back on the first floor and leaving the school.

“We are having a family dinner so I don’t know if I will be early or late but I will text you okay? Bye Joonie.” Jimin said before running off to the front of the school where his bicycle was, he climbed on quickly before riding off towards his house. The couple were confused on the sudden visit of Jimin’s father but Namjoon just knew to hope for the best.

Namjoon was half asleep when he heard his phone go off. The only person who ever texted him was Jimin or Jin and Namjoon knew that Jin was out on a school trip to Jeju with Yoongi and Hoseok. The older rolled over and grabbed his phone.

Joonie, we need to go please. We need to leave. We can go back to your old house like you always talked about. But please baby for me. We have to leave. I can’t be here anymore. I will tell you about it in the car but please. We need to leave. Please Namjoon. I’m at the bench where we first kissed. Please

Namjoon didn’t know what had happened but he was fully awake now. He grabbed his bag that he always kept packed and ran out of his house with only that and his phone. He didn’t care that it was starting to rain. He jumped into the car and drove over to the location they were going to meet at. There was Jimin, the rain drenching him. Namjoon rolled down the window and called for his boyfriend, Jimin got up quickly and got into the car.

“What happened?” Namjoon asked quickly because he was scared. Did his parents find out about their relationship? Why were they leaving but all that Namjoon knew is that Jimin said they were leaving so they were leaving because Namjoon would do absolutely anything for the younger male who was shaking in the passenger seat.

“My parents..my dad really..my mom she didn’t know at all but he wanted to basically just sell me off to his CEOs son. Remember that weekend I went to Seoul to attend a party. I guess the CEO saw me and wanted me as his sons husband and I said no obviously because I love you only but then he said I was going to because this would put us at a higher standing and he got mad and my mom tried to calm him down but he hit my mom and I ran for it.” Jimin explained and Namjoon could feel and see his knuckles going white as he gripped the steering wheel tightly. The rain was pounding harder against the moving car but Namjoon didn’t care. He was getting Jimin out of there.

“Baby I’m sorry, I-”

Nothing but static was heard. He could feel the car moving but he couldn’t hear anything but then he could hear the piercing sound of Jimin’s cries. He felt liquid all over his body. He could feel Jimin’s soft hands trying to wake him up but he was just so tired.

“Love you.” Namjoon said quietly before closing his eyes to the sounds of Jimin screaming for him. He felt the car stop and then start rolling again. He was already knocked out but the second fall knocked out Jimin.

Everything was quiet but Namjoon could hear people shouting and could hear the ambulance.

What happened?

~

When Namjoon had opened his eyes, he was back at the farm that he had went to with Jimin when they were still very young. It looked exactly the same as it did then as if nothing had aged, Namjoon looked down at himself and noticed that he had aged. He looked to be in his mid thirties but he had a child holding onto his hand tightly.

The first thing Namjoon had noticed was the fact that he wasn’t in his body, he wasn’t controlling it but was merely a viewer at the scene as if his life was just a movie to be seen. He saw as older Namjoon bent down on his knees so he was face to face with the child, she was small perhaps 7 years of age at most.

“This farm is very important to me but it has nothing to do with any of your siblings or any of your uncles. The person who made this farm important is long gone from here.” Older Namjoon said and the child looked at his father with a smile as he raised his arms and the younger version of Namjoon was able to see bruises and scars that littered his body. Was his older self abusive to his multiple kids? What happened to Jimin and why did he have a kid without Jimin.

“Is he dead appa?” The little boy asked and older Namjoon chuckled sadly as he shook his head and lifted the male easily and placed him on his hip as he started to lead around the farm in the same way that he was led as a kid. The younger version was being pushed against his will to follow the two. He was so confused on what was happening and what had happened to Jimin and why the male he loved was not there.

“No Jiminie, he just is not here with us anymore. He left after graduation in high school and no one has seen him personally ever since. We know he is in Seoul with his boyfriend, I believe they had a little girl recently. I don’t keep up with them anymore but I know Jackson does so maybe when he gets back with the rest of your siblings, you can ask him about him. He is who I renamed you after. Jimin was a major part in life, bigger than Jackson.”

“Bigger than daddy?” The young boy said as he cupped his face dramatically which caused a loud laugh to erupt from older Namjoon’s chest.

Younger Namjoon watched in silence as he tried to put everything together. Jimin had left after graduation to Seoul and is now married with children. Namjoon had multiple children with Jackson. What had happened? One minute, Jimin and Namjoon were together and were running away then the next-..the next.. Why couldn’t Namjoon remember?

“Joonie you don’t have to stay silent. Jiminie doesn’t bite like his other siblings. “ The older version said with a soft smile as he turned to stare directly at Namjoon as if he was trying to see through him and it truly felt like he was. The younger walked forward and stood in front of the older, there was a possible 2 centimeter height difference and he was a lot broader and stronger than before but the younger could only imagine what it is like to carry kids.

“Where am I?” Namjoon had asked quietly and the older chuckled as he placed the child down who ran straight over to the younger Namjoon’s legs and stood behind them as he gripped them tightly.

“Jiminie is very confused as well. You are in your head and I’m pretty sure you remember nothing of what happened before waking up here. Well you see Joonie, you got into a very bad car accident and both you and Jimin are in comas. Since your mind is so advanced, you got to see a possible future timeline depending on how you play what is given to you. I can see though that this is a very nice future, you own an orphanage here in Busan with Jackson who had moved here after graduation because Jin had called him after how heartbroken you were due to Jimin leaving you for Taehyung. All of your friends work at this orphanage as well and you basically raised most of these kids. Jiminie was our second newest person, he was a baby who had been in an explosion off somewhere else. You had saved him. You do a lot of great things in this life Namjoon.”

“But what about Jimin? What happened to him? I love him. He is me. I can’t see myself without him in my life. He has been with me ever since I was young and now you are telling me he is going to leave me. Jimin would never do that, he loves me too much. We have a future planned. We were going to go back to Ilsan and open up a- open up an orphanage. “ The younger Namjoon said as he began to freak out, why would Jimin leave him? Jimin promised to always stay by his side in every advancement in their relationship from friendship to boyfriends, he always promised to stay but now he had left.

“You didn’t take that much damage in the car accident. Jimin had. He got really hurt not only physically but mentally Namjoon. He forgot everything, he forgot you and he forgot your love. We had tried for months to get him to remember but nothing ever work-”

“Ahh! Wait my head hurts? Why does my head hurt?” Namjoon said as he clutched his head and fell to his knees, he squeezed his eyes shut but he could see the olders shoes by his face. He felt a large on his hand and then he felt like he was being pulled out of his body. When he woke up, he wasn’t in the field anymore but was actually in a hospital. Someone was holding his hand and he tried to turn his head quickly but felt that he couldn’t then he realized he had a neck brace on. He slowly turned his head to find Jin asleep with his hand grasping Namjoon’s tightly.

So he did get into a car crash. Was everything else older Namjoon said true?

Namjoon was in the hospital for another two weeks before being released into the care of Jin since his parents were nowhere to be found and Namjoon knew why. When things got hard they leave back to Ilsan, things were extremely hard for them before the crash. Namjoon’s dad cheated and his mom was furious and she left first and then his dad left and soon he was alone. Only Jimin and Jin knew so Jin claimed to be a relative of the younger boy.

“I know you wanted to see him.” Jin said as he pulled up to Jimin’s house, the two weeks were spent helping him feel his legs again and now he was able to walk without too much trouble. He looked at Jin and smiled before getting out and walking slowly up the steps and ringing the doorbell. He felt his heart beating so fast that he was afraid he might have a heart attack but when the door opened, his heart completely stopped.

“Hello? May I help you?” Jimin asked softly and Namjoon felt his mouth go dry. Why was he acting like he didn’t know Namjoon. His parents must be home. He grabbed the youngers hand and pulled him out of the house and closed the door. Jimin moved easily as if his body was forcing him to move with the man.

“Jiminie baby, how are you? I heard you got discharged before me. Please tell me your alright.” Namjoon said and it was easy to hear the weakness in his voice. Jimin looked at him with wide eyes as he took in the stranger in front of him, he felt familiar but he couldn’t remember at all. His body remembered but his mind didn’t.

“I-i don’t know you, sorry. “ Jimin said quietly and he watched as the tallers face dropped quickly before paling to a color similar to the white of the house walls that he was told he lived in. The man let go of Jimin’s wrists before turning away and walking down the steps to a car that was parked in front of the house. Jimin’s body felt on fire from where he was touched but he ignored it and walked inside the house to find his parents sat on the couch with the man they had claimed was his boyfriend.

“Who was at the door sweetie?” His mother asked and for some unknown reason, Jimin wanted to yell at her. He wanted to scream at not only his mother but his father who was talking quietly with the young man in their dining room. Jimin was confused because he felt like everything was wrong yet it wasn’t because his parents wouldn’t lie to him but why did he have the urge to run after that man who was just on their patio.

“I don’t know. Some guy with white hair but it was this cool type of white hair maybe like a platinum look. I don’t know but-.. I just don’t know.” He said as he looked out the window as if he was checking to see if the car was there, his parents exchanged glances before his mother stood up and forced her son to sit down beside her.

“We don’t want you talking to him okay? You only have two months left of school and after that you will move to Seoul with us and get married to Taehyung since you two have been dating for years already.” His mother said and Jimin nodded slowly as he got up from his place on the couch and walked upstairs to his room and flopped down on the bed. Why did he feel uncomfortable around his parents? They were his parents. He should love them but he felt deep in his body that they were hiding something but just thinking about it hurt his head.

Jimin would see Namjoon at school and would try to avoid him but everywhere he went Namjoon was there first. Why was that? He didn’t know at all but he just knew that Namjoon had to know something. So one day when Jimin went up to the roof to eat his lunch because even being around his friends felt uncomfortable, he saw Namjoon already sat down there. He sat across from the male and the shock that lingered on the olders face basically told Jimin that Namjoon had to know something.

“You never told me your name? I don’t know if you were told but I lost my memory recently. My parents told me I was in a very bad car accident and I hit my head a lot so I lost my memory.” Jimin said quietly as he played with the peas that were given to him to eat. He hated the food at school, he didn’t know how he managed to survive it for four years. He looked up from his peas when he felt something hitting his arms repeatedly, it was Namjoon who was hitting him with a sandwich.

“You never ate school food. I always either brought it for you, made it for you or had Jin make it for you.” Namjoon said softly as he looked at the younger with soft eyes, Jimin nodded slowly and grabbed the sandwich and unwrapped it quickly before eating it. He moaned softly at the delicious taste and Namjoon had to stop himself from pouncing on the younger. This wasn’t his Jimin. Not anymore. Not til Jimin was able to remember Namjoon and the love that they had shared for many years.

“So you did know me...before the accident I mean..” Jimin said as he quickly ate the sandwich, Namjoon couldn’t look away because this was his Jimin but it wasn’t at all. This person was in Jimin’s body but wasn’t Jimin because Jimin would never forget the love and everything they had been through in not only their relationship but their friendship as well. Why had the world been so cruel to take away everything that had mattered to Namjoon so quickly?

“Yeah, you can say that. You and I were very close. “ Namjoon said and internally he felt a part of him break. He had been reading on memory loss and it said that sometimes it can com back but sometimes the memories will never come back and the victims will have to start anew. If they had to start a new then Namjoon would do that. As much as the future he saw was appealing, he knew he couldn’t have a future without Jimin in it. He would for as long as possible to get the younger to remember.

“My parents told me not to talk to you...why is that?” Jimin asked softly as he looked at Namjoon. Being there felt familiar but Jimin still didn’t know why but from the little that Namjoon had said maybe they would eat lunch up here so that was why that had felt familiar and that was why Namjoon had felt familiar. Namjoon let out a deep chuckle as he ran a hand through his hair and for some reason as the older stretched out his neck to let out his laugh, Jimin wanted to crawl into his lap so when he looked back he would be there and they could kiss. Why did he want to kiss Namjoon and not his own boyfriend?

“Your parents never liked me. Ever since we were young they always hated me. The reasons were quite stupid. They said I was too smart and then because I dyed my hair and finally my favorite because I fought too much. They never knew the reason why I fought because they never wanted to get to know me despite the fact that you and I were-”   despite the fact that you and I were in love. No one could ever understand the dislike that Namjoon had towards Jimin’s parents.

“How weird. You don’t seem like a fighter. More of a lover but that’s just my opinion. Do you mind me asking why you fight? I know one of my friends I think his name is Jungkook, he was a fighter before becoming a boxer and he said he did it because he had a lot of pent up energy and anger so why do you?” Jimin asked and Namjoon closed his eyes and tried to think if it was right that he tell him why he truly fights.

“I fight to protect people. Some of the upperclassmen are mean and will pick on people so I fight them.” Namjoon said and it was half the truth. He did fight to protect people from upperclassmen but usually the person he had to protect a lot was Jimin. His dear Jimin who had his whole heart even now. Namjoon didn’t know when he started leaning in but soon their lips had touched and they both felt the spark. Jimin wasn’t used to the spark but it felt like something casual like it has happened so many times that it isn’t as special. Why did he not feel that spark with Taehyung?

“No. Fuck, I have a boyfriend. “ Jimin said as he grabbed his stuff quickly before running down the stairs. Namjoon groaned as he fell onto his back and stared at the ceiling, he fucked up. He majorly fucked up. Jimin was shaking as he ran down the stairs, he felt like he left a part of him up there but maybe his parents were right. Maybe he should have stayed away from the male with the white hair.

It was two weeks before they saw each other again. It was late, a crisp 2 in the morning and Jimin was walking around the forest that was behind his house. He felt like something was leading him somewhere. He found himself at the foot of a ladder that led into a treehouse which had its lights on. He could hear soft noises and wondered what was going on in there. Jimin didn’t know why he was climbing the ladder but soon he opened the hatch to find Namjoon in the corner of the treehouse with his arms wrapped tightly around a sweater that was way too small to be his own.

Namjoon was so caught up in his pain that he didn’t see the head that was looking around the interior of the treehouse. The walls were covered in pink and purple fairy lights and pictures of Namjoon and Jimin together. They were super close as if they had been intimate. As he turned he saw that one wall was pictures of Jimin only and on the opposite side where pictures of the elder. What was going on? Was everyone hiding something from Jimin?

“What is this?” Jimin asked and he wanted his voice to sound strong but in actuality it sounded soft like it came from a mouse but Namjoon heard it loud and clear. He looked up from where he was curled up and wiped at his eyes quickly before hiding the sweater behind him.

“Jimin please let me explain okay? Please just come inside it is cold and the ladder is not as stable as it was before.” Namjoon said and Jimin didn’t know why he listened but soon he was sat in the middle of the treehouse and glanced around at all the pictures of the two together. They had to have been dating. There were pictures of them kissing, holding hands, on dates.

“We were dating before my accident?”

Our accident.

Namjoon always wished that Jimin would come back to the tree house but now that the younger was here he didn't know what to say. He wanted to tell him everything but he didn’t want to scare him off. He had read it is easier if you only tell them slowly and not push it all on them and that was what Namjoon had planned to do and hoped that maybe it would help.

“I need you to promise me something. I can’t tell you all at once for your safety but you have realized how your body is used to being awake at two in the morning. That is because of me like I said before your parents don’t like me so we would meet up during lunch, after school and at this time. We would always meet here and this became our sanctuary. I want you to start meeting me here and I will explain everything okay?” Namjoon said and it took a while but Jimin agreed.

For the next month, Namjoon and Jimin would meet to talk about their past. Namjoon started from the way beginning and told his point of view from first meeting him in 3rd grade, talking to him in 7th grade, their friendship until the party in 11th and then until the accident. It was the last day where Namjoon was talking about their accident when he realized that Jimin wasn’t going to remember and that it was only causing them both more pain. Graduation was tomorrow and Namjoon knew that it was his last chance to get Jimin to remember before he left.

“You texted me frantic telling me we were gonna leave. We had talked about it before. Talked about moving to Ilsan where my parents were and opening an orphanage. You said to meet you at the bench where we first confessed and when I got there you were drenched in rain and while you were explaining the story, the rain got so hard that we crashed and we kept rolling and rolling. I was the first to pass out, I could still hear your screams for me to wake up and then on the second fall. You passed out and that’s where we first remet.” Namjoon said and he knew he was crying, he could feel the tears streaming down his face. Jimin leant forward and wiped away the tears before frowning softly.

“I still don’t remember. The first thing I remember was a dark dark room and I could hear someone screaming for me. My doctor said that was my coma and then I woke up and Taehyung and my family were there.” Jimin said and Namjoon nodded sadly as he looked around the tree house at all the pictures of them. He was lucky to have Jimin love him for as long as it lasted but it was time to let go.

I love you and I will always love you. You were my first everything. My first kiss. My first fight. My first love. My first time. I can’t imagine a world without you but I know that this hurts you. I followed you home one day and I heard you crying at the entrance of the forest so I continued going. After every meeting you cry for hours. I’m sorry that I cause you pain. That was never my intention. I only ever wanted you to love me again but I know now that I was being greedy. I had an angel like you for a little over 5 years. Thank you but it’s time for me to let go.

“It’s fine Jimin. I hope the best for you but now it is time for you to go. I will remove all these pictures because I make no plans to come back anymore.” Namjoon said and it was easy for anyone who knew him that he was straining, that he was on the brink of breaking down but Jimin didn’t know him. Jimin didn’t even know himself.

They parted ways and only briefly saw each other at graduation. Namjoon made sure to stay away from him and spend time with his friends. He was sad that Jungkook wasn’t graduating but that’s what he got for being friends with underclassmen but he knew that he still had Jin, Yoongi and Hoseok by his side and as the ceremony came to an end. He found out again that he wasn’t utterly alone unlike how he felt. He saw Jackson in the crowd and ran over to him and held him tightly so maybe he wouldn’t slip away.

“How are you buddy? Still being a little shit like always.” Jackson said as he held his friend tightly. It had been 9 years since they had seen each other yet Namjoon was still able to find him in a crowd. He could hear the soft sobs and remembered what Jin had said when he had gotten into contact with Jackson after Namjoon and Jimin’s incident. Namjoon had fallen in love with a man who doesn’t remember their relationship at all let alone him.

“Shh, I got you. I heard what happened but I have a surprise for you okay but first I want to meet your friends and then I want you to meet mine. Those little shits went to get food.” Jackson said and Namjoon chuckled as he pulled away from his friend and wiped at his eyes. The crowd was slowly diminishing and heading off on their own ways. He could hear his friends yelling and grabbed Jackson’s hand and led him over to the three that had graduated and the one who needed another year.

“Guys my friend Jackson Wang from Ilsan. This is Jung Hoseok aka the group dancer and sunshine. Kim Seokjin aka the mother of our group and cook. Min Yoongi the producer and rapper of the group along with me and Hobi and then our baby Jeon Jungkook who didn’t graduate yet.” Namjoon said with a smile as he watched his old friend interact with his new friends. It was perfect but why was he still thinking about Jimin? The younger probably already left for Seoul.

The friends had kept in contact after school. Namjoon, Hoseok and Yoongi all got work at a company in Seoul for music production and took the job while Jin went into acting and modeling. They worked for three years before being able to work from home while Jin still worked out of the country at times. The four lived together in a penthouse in central Seoul but by the fourth year, everything had changed.

On a late night talking with Jackson he decided to follow a dream he had had when he was with Jimin. He would make an orphanage for victims from all around the world. He would adopt kids of his own and raise them in kindness like he always had wanted to with Jimin but he will do this with his friends. When he told them about it, they had loved the idea and soon they started to save money to buy a large orphanage in Busan where it had all started. They had decided to name it Letting Go so the kids know that it is okay for them to let go of their past and move forward with their life.

They had opened the doors of Letting Go when Namjoon was at the tender age of 26. Everyone was surprised by this but the people most surprised where the people who remained hidden from Namjoon’s eye, the Park’s.

Rapper and Producer RM also known as Kim Namjoon opens an orphanage called Letting Go with his group of friends who go by the name of BT7. When asked why the name of the orphanage he explained that it was because he wanted the kids that go there and that get adopted that they do not have to hold onto their past and can “let go” so they can flourish in their future. Idols and fans around the world have been sending flowers for the group and on the 26th of July, they open their arms for their first child.

Soon their rooms were all filled and they were planning to expand to a nearby building because they didn’t want their children to feel too far away from their brothers and sisters. All of the adults were happy. They taught the older children how to take care of the babies and everything was running smoothly. They rarely had any accidents which was great because it let the adults work so they could continue making money. A lot of citizens in Busan donated to the orphanage because they loved the cause of it.

It had been 14 years since Namjoon had last seen Jimin when he had heard the news. The younger was engaged to Kim Taehyung. The same Taehyung from their past. Namjoon would have normally gotten mad but instead he spent his time with the kids and let their happiness infect him. They had gotten a new baby from a foreign country and Namjoon decided to give his last remembrance to Jimin in the for of the baby boy. Kim Jimin. What Jimin would have been if they had gotten married. If they never got into that car crash but Namjoon wouldn’t be where he was if it wasn’t for all the pain he went through after the crash.

While Namjoon was happy with his bunch of kids, Jimin was pacing his room quickly. So quickly that the younger had fallen and hit his head right on the edge of his vanity table. He was always clumsy but when he had woken up, he felt his head was gonna explode. He stumbled over to the mirror and looked at himself. What had happened to him? Why was he older? One second he was driving with Namjoon the next he is in a suit and looking way older than 18. Namjoon! Where was Namjoon?

It all hit him. The crash. The coma. While he was in the coma he had gotten lost in the maze but he woke up but he wasn’t himself. He didn’t have all himself. He was finally himself! He could finally remember! His parents had been lying to him for- how long had it been? Jimin stumbled over to the couch and grabbed his phone. He did the math quickly and realized, he had been stuck in his own head for 14 years!

“Jimin. We’re ready for you. Please brush your hair since this is being broadcasted everywhere in Korea. “Someone said and Jimin nodded as he grabbed his phone and searched through all his contacts. The past 14 years had been a blur to him, he saw it but it was as if it was going at high speed. He found the contact and quickly asked them for the whereabouts of Namjoon. Jimin didn’t know what was happening but it better end quickly so he could speak with his parents then go find Namjoon, the love of his life.

Jimin followed the person who had called them and for some reason felt uneasy. He was brought onto a stage that had a priest and a man that he had met a long time ago but someone he had picked up on in his speed of 14 years. He was led up the steps and the man grabbed his hands, were they getting married? What the fuck happened.

“Today we come together to witness the marriage of Kim Taehyung, son of Kim Co. and his long time boyfriend Park Jimin. If anyone has any objections please speak now or forever hold your peace.” The priest drawled out as he blinked slowly, as if he was tired and really didn’t want to be there.

That makes two of us.

Jimin looked to his parents who were sat front row and frowned as he took his hands out of Taehyung’s and turned to face the crowd. He could feel his fathers heavy glare but he didn't care. He had hurt Namjoon for so long and now it was time for him to make things right.

“My name is Park Jimin and I object this wedding. I am not in love with Kim Taehyung and I never have been. I am in love with another man and I learned that because for the past 14 years, I was stuck in a long and severe case of amnesia and my dear parents and Mr Kim decided to use that to their advantage. They made me believe that I had loved Taehyung when in fact I never did even before my accident. I’m sorry for the trouble but this wedding is cancelled.” Jimin said as he walked down the steps and towards the exit of the church. He didn’t expect an immediate response from Jin but he got one.

He was about to step into a taxi before getting grabbed by his father. Jimin quickly turned around and slapped his father the way his father had slapped his mother all those years ago. He was furious. What type of father would lie to his son for 14 year!

“Stay away from me! I do not care that you are my father. You are not my father anymore. I hate you. I loathe you for everything you put me through.” Jimin said before hopping into the cab and heading to the destination Jin had said to meet him at. They met at a fancy building and Jimin was surprised to see Jin waiting outside of a limo with a soft smile on his lips as he held a kid close to his hip.

“Jin?” Jimin asked and Jin chuckled as he pulled down his glasses and walked forward and wrapped his arms around the younger. He handed a 100 dollar bill to the driver before leading Jimin into the limo. To say the younger was surprised by the fact that there was three more kids would be a large understatement.

“So you finally remember? Took you long enough. Don’t worry Namjoonie never got married, always said that he would only ever marry you. Also all these kids are ours. The group. Jungkook, Hobi, Yoongi, Joon, his 7 other friends and my kids. We opened an orphanage called Letting Go for you.” Jin explained as he handed out snacks to the kids who were already looking around for food. Jimin nodded as he wiped at his eyes. Namjoon had let go but he didn’t completely let go.

The whole ride was spent with the two catching up on everything that had happened in the many years that they were apart. Jimin was an utter shock when they pulled up to the farm where him and Namjoon first met, the second shock was all the kids running around. He got out slowly and Jin pointed him to where Namjoon would be.

Jimin slowly walked over to the area and was surprised to see Namjoon with a small kid on his hip. He could hear him talking to the kid and his voice still sounded the same. He was still Namjoon, still the love of his life.

“No Jiminie, that person is not dead..he just isn’t here with us but don’t be sad.  Appa is fine and because of him I grew stronger and now I can take care of all of you.” Namjoon said as he placed the kid down and turned to watch him run after his siblings but what he was surprised to see behind him was Jimin, the man he still loved after all the pain and years.

“You followed our dream even though I didn’t remember. Thank you for letting go but I remember now and I don’t want you to ever have to let go of me again.”

Notes:

This was one of my longest fics I wrote. I listened to Letting Go by Day6 for like 3 1/2 hrs. It was fun but so tiring but I really like this one
