Work Text:

As soon as they were ushered off the airplane and through the halls of screaming fans to their multiple vehicles, the members have been arguing over who is going to room with who and Jimin doesn’t blame Namjoon for looking like he’s about to rip his perfectly styled hair out of his head.

Namjoon, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook file into one car while Yoongi, Jin, and Hoseok follow behind in the second one and their staff scatters amongst the remaining automobiles. Taehyung and Jungkook are currently begging Namjoon to let them room together, most likely so they can stay up half the night watching videos or playing games, but Namjoon continues to stare at his phone uninterested in their advances.

Jimin does his best to stay quiet but let’s a giggle slip when when after five minutes of constant harassment Namjoon surrenders. He then pulls up his phone and begins typing, most likely to one of the members in the other car trying to sort out the remaining sleeping arrangements. Jimin tries to lean over and peek at his hyung’s screen but he isn’t able to follow through without appearing too obvious.

“You’re alright rooming with Yoongi hyung, right Jiminie?” Namjoon asks peering over his screen.

It takes Jimin a couple of seconds to recognize that the leader is addressing him but after the initial shock settles down he’s able to choke out a quiet “yes.”

“Oh trust me, he’s more than alright with it” the maknae laughs while highfiving his roommate and it’s in that moment that Jimin regrets telling the youngest members of a certain crush he has on a certain rapper in the group.

Namjoon shoots Jimin a confused look while the younger does his best to muster an innocent looking smile. The leader sighs and turns his attention back to his phone and when Jimin notices he’s lost the attention of the older man he reaches to the row of seats behind him to smack Jungkook. The youngest scowls and rubs the part of his leg which, if it wasn’t for his skin tight jeans, would probably host an imprint of Jimin’s hand.

When they arrive at the hotel they’re staying at, the group of four stumbles out of the car and into the miraculous looking building. After walking through the automatic doors, Jungkook and Taehyung begin joking around only to be scolded for not respectfully waiting for their remaining members. Taehyung pouts and Jungkook mumbles something under his breath as the duo joins Jimin and Namjoon.

Jimin keeps his eyes trained on the sliding doors nonchalantly, at least that’s what he tells himself, waiting for the remaining members to walk through.

“Looking for someone special, Jiminie?” Taehyung quirks earning an elbow to the ribs. Following Taehyung’s groan and his quick attempt to aid the throbbing pain in his side, the rest of their band stroll into the hotel.

Jimin’s eyes immediately find Yoongi who’s currently hiding behind a face mask and even though most of his face is covered he can tell the older man is probably scowling at whatever Jin and Hoseok seem to be cackling over.

Jungkook leans over to whisper something to the older man: “don’t you think Yoongi hyung looks cute in his oversized sweatshirt?” he asks.

Jimin’s face starts to heat as his eyes follow Yoongi to where he lines up in between Namjoon and Jin. “Don’t remind me,” he whines.

The staff walks back over to the group to distribute their various room keys and direct them to the nearest elevator. Yoongi quickly finds Jimin and stands next to him and he knows it’s because they’re roommates and he wants to find their room together, but you try telling that to Jimin’s heart which is currently beating erratically. Yoongi is standing silently but close enough that Jimin can feel the heat radiating off the man and for his own body to have trouble remembering how to breathe.

When the group reaches their floor, Hoseok is the first one out of the elevator and down the hall muttering something over and over again about the bathroom. Taehyung and Jungkook are next as they march straight into their room. Following them are Namjoon and Jin who seem to be discussing the schedule the boys will be completeing the next day. This leaves Jimin and Yoongi. Jimin opens his mouth to say something but Yoongi is already off the elevator and a few feet down the hall before the younger boy is given the chance.

Luckily for Jimin, his hyung does not walk fast so he easily catches up with him. “How was your flight, hyung?” Jimin makes sure to flash a smile at the older upon finishing his question but the other man is too busy focused straight ahead to notice.

Yoongi doesn’t reply for a moment giving Jimin a second to realize he probably asked a dumb question and there were millions of other topics he could have brought up to make conversation.

They reach the end of the hallway where they will be staying, next to Taehyung and Jungkook, when Yoongi finally replies, giving Jimin a fairly dry response, “It was fine.”

Jimin’s face starts to heat up and suddenly the vintage looking pattern on the hotel floor is becoming really interesting to the boy. His head remains lowered when he hears the click of the door unlocking, and when he hears Yoongi flip on the light, and when he runs into the older man’s back after realizing he’s frozen in his spot.

It’s then that Jimin’s head shoots up to see what was the matter. He chokes on his own spit when he sees the source of his hyung’s shock.

There’s one bed.

“Oh this must be a mistake” Jimin laughs nervously. He then grabs Yoongi’s wrist and drags him out of the room and next door to Taehyung and Jungkook’s.

He’s still holding onto the older boy when he knocks on the door. Jungkook answers the door a couple of seconds later, already changed into sleeping wear. Jimin pushes by the younger boy and pulls Yoongi along with him into the room. He looks around and sees two beds.

He then takes a moment to peek at his hyung who is currently wearing a startled expression. He still doesn’t have it in him to let go of his wrist as he’s swiftly moving out of Taehyung’s and Jungkook’s room and on to the next one.

After checking every room including those of very annoyed staff members, Jimin comes to the conclusion that the hotel only seemed to have messed up his and Yoongi’s room.

“Jiminie” Yoongi quirks, still in the younger man’s grasp but making no effort to remove himself.

“No, hyung, I can take care of it” the other man interrupts once again dragging his hyung behind him. He shoves them both into the elevator and taps the button for the lobby. He understands that it’s really late and he should probably just get over it, but he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to survive sharing a bed with Yoongi now that he’s come to terms with his feelings.

When the elevator stops, he looks back at Yoongi to make sure he’s not completely miserable, but the older boy looks more bored than upset. He probably figures that there’s nothing he can do to stop Jimin and that makes the younger realize that Yoongi usually lets him get away with whatever he wants anyway.

There’s no one at the desk when Jimin pulls Yoongi and him up to the counter. He leans over and taps the bell behind the desk to get the attention of whoever is working. A couple of seconds later, a short man in a dark grey suit is walking out of the back room and up to the counter. “How may I help you?” he asks.

“You gave us one bed” Jimin blurts and he realizes how childish he’s coming across but he can’t seem to help it.

“And is that a problem?” the man responds in annoyance at Jimin’s bluntness.

“Yes.” Jimin replies simply, “we reserved a room with two beds not one” and at this point Jimin doesn’t even care about the size of the room or bed he just needs to breathe and probably let go of Yoongi’s hand, but he doesn’t.

“What room number?”

Jimin thinks for a second and realizes he never actually looked at the number on the door; he was too busy staring at his hyung.

“1034” Yoongi replies, his voice slightly scratchy from not being used.

The man hums and starts typing on his computer. He scrolls for a couple of seconds and clicks a couple of times before typing again. “Sorry but we don’t have any more rooms available.”

Jimin feels like he’s been kicked by a horse and all the air has been knocked out of him. “W-what” he stutters.

“Sorry” the man states again, obviously not caring that much. “Enjoy your stay” he adds before walking away from the desk and back into the room he came out of.

Jimin remains silent, but the grip he has on Yoongi tightens.

“Wow Jiminie” Yoongi laughs “is sharing a bed with me that bad?”

You have no idea Jimin tells himself before guilt consumes him at how this must look to Yoongi, who doesn’t know that Jimin is totally head over heels for him.

“Awh, I’m sorry hyung. It’s not like that at all” the younger panics. “I just figured you didn’t want to share a bed with me is all.”

“Nope” the older man replies placing emphasis on the word “I have no problem” and with this he wriggles his wrist out of Jimin’s hand but then places his arm around the younger boy’s shoulders and guides him to the elevator. “We should probably get to bed, we have a busy day tomorrow.”

Jimin hums in response and subconsciously moves into Yoongi’s hold. The ride back up to their room is silent but Jimin screams internally at the fact that Yoongi’s arm remains around his shoulders until they arrive in front of the room and the older removes it to open the door. Jimin hates himself for how his body feels cold without Yoongi’s embrace.

Yoongi walks over to his bag and quickly pulls out his sleepwear and starts changing. Jimin freaks as if he hasn’t seen Yoongi change hundreds of times and begins creating a wall of pillows down the middle of the bed.

“What the hell are you doing, Jimin?” Yoongi asks moving up behind the boy whose breath hitches, which he tries to cover up with a cough.

“J-just giving you some space” Jimin stutters straightening up the bed to give himself a distraction.

Yoongi laughs at Jimin’s reaction. “No way are we using all these pillows” he scoffs “we’re not kids and we’ve shared a bed before.” And with that Yoongi is taking all of the decorative pillows off the bed and chucking them onto the floor. Jimin thinks he’s handling it pretty well considering he’s not in the toilet dry heaving at the moment, but his nerves are working overtime. “Do you want to get ready for bed?” Yoongi politely asks crawling onto the mattress and underneath the comforter.

Jimin doesn’t say anything but just nods as he walks over to his luggage to grab his pajamas and sprints into the bathroom. He quickly changes and brushes his teeth before looking into the mirror.

“You’ve got this Park Jimin,” he tells himself, “You can do this. It’s not your first time, just pretend he’s someone else. Anyone else.”

He quickly splashes some water on his face before cutting off the lights and exiting the bathroom. All the lights except for the lamp next to Jimin’s side of the bed are turned off and Yoongi is laying still with his back turned towards where Jimin is going to sleep. He looks so peaceful and Jimin would do anything to wrap his arms around the older man and pull him into his body.

He sighs to himself when the older man doesn’t move and Jimin guesses he’s already asleep. As gentle as he can, Jimin eases into bed making sure not to hit or disturb the other man. When he thinks he’s made it safely, he turns off the light and maneuvers his body so that it is facing away from Yoongi’s.

“Goodnight Jiminie” he hears a raspy voice mutter and his heart bursts into flames as the realization that he’s sharing a bed with Yoongi hits him and his cheeks involuntarily heat up.

“Goodnight hyung.”

...

The next morning Jimin is woken up by the bright light shinning through the curtains of the hotel room. He smiles slightly at the sun warming his face and does his routine stretches. He decides it would be best to get up before Yoongi does so, half asleep, he reaches down to remove the blanket from his body. Only, the blanket is kind of boney and not a blanket at all.

The young boy releases a sigh and looks down to meet his hyung who is still asleep but wrapped tightly around his torso.

Oh no oh no this is bad, the younger thinks to himself. He even tries closing his eyes and reopening them, thinking that somehow Yoongi would disappear. Jimin decides to do the only rational thing he can think of which is to slowly maneuver out from under the older’s grasp and sprint out of the room as fast as he can.

Still in his pajamas, he immediately goes next door and starts banging on the hotel door not really worried about waking anyone up. A few moments later, a groggy Taehyung with bed head is pulling open the door and Jimin rushes by him to see Jungkook still asleep in bed. “Wake him up I’m having a crisis,” he announces pacing back and forth in the younger two’s hotel room.

“What kind?” Taehyung groans rubbing his eyes in order to get rid of some of the sleep.

“The gay kind,” Jimin is quick to respond as if there were any other worth mentioning.

“Oh good,” the other replies suddenly becoming more interested and moving to wake the maknae up. “Wake up, Kookie,” he calls slightly pushing on the young boy and after a few minutes of trying he finally wakes.

“Finally,” he complains as Taehyung explains to the other why Jimin is interrupting their morning.

“Can you just spit it out?” Jungkook scolds obviously annoyed with the older’s presence.

“YoongiandIonlyhaveonebedandIwokeupinhisarms,” he rushes out followed by nervous laughter. “ItwassowarmandI’mfreakingout”

“What?” Taehyung chokes out.

Jimin sighs and his cheeks flush, “Yoongi hyung and I only have one bed in our room so we’re forced to share it.”

“I don’t see the problem, hyung”
the youngest snorts, “shouldn’t you be overjoyed?”

“No!” Jimin bites, his cheeks fully red by now. “I woke up in his arms and it was so warm and I really liked it so I freaked out and ran before he could see me.”

Taehyung’s mouth drops slightly, “you just left him?” he asks exasperated.

“Yes,” Jimin mumbles tracing out words in the carpet with his bare feet.

“What an idiot!” the maknae laughs and Jimin fumes.

“Hey, be respectful you brat!” he scolds and the youngest stops laughing.

“Just go back to your room. You don’t want Yoongi hyung knowing you freaked out,” Taehyung suggests and Jimin nods before exiting the room.

Jimin stealthily enters back into his and Yoongi’s shared room; he lets out a sigh of relief when he notices that his hyung must have left when he was panicking in Tae‘s and Jungkook’s room.

His heart rate finally calming for the first time the entire morning, Jimin starts getting ready in peace.

..
When they’re all dressed for the day, they meet down in the lobby. Jimin peaks out of the corner of his eye and sees Yoongi having an animated conversation with Namjoon. His dark hair lays flat against his forehead and his long bangs rest over his eyes, Jimin bites the inside of his cheek to keep from screaming. He then vows to himself that the only way he’s getting through this trip is to try and stay away from Yoongi as much as he can for a guy he’s sharing a bed with.

He follows Taehyung and Jungkook to a car but quickly switches directions when he notices Yoongi walking towards the same one. He jumps in the car containing Hoseok, Jin, and Namjoon as fast as he can to avoid Yoongi’s gaze and he begins to realize that maybe leaving Jungkook and Tae with Yoongi alone may not have been a master plan.

When they reach the location where their interviews are being held, Jimin is the first one out of the car and he rushes over to where Taehyung and Jungkook are getting out of their vehicle. He chances a look at Yoongi who doesn’t appear to be to be grossed out or giving him weird looks so he figures that the young boys must not have outed him.

They enter the building and take their seats, Jimin makes sure to sit as far away from Yoongi as he can and makes himself comfortable between Jungkook and Jin.

For the most part the interviews are boring, like always, the same questions are asked and the same answers are given. However, one interviewer does his best to liven things up by incorporating a trivia challenge. Jungkook and Yoongi are chosen and Jungkook has to answer questions about his hyung. The young boy does fairly well but not as good as Jimin who gets every question right from his seat in the back row.

When the two boys walk back to their seats, Jimin notices Yoongi trying to catch his gaze but he quickly averts his attention and tries to strike quick conversation with Jin.

After the interviews are completed, the boys have to walk to another part of the large building to host a small impromptu fansign they announced days before. Jimin briskly walks behind Yoongi down the hall and does his best to avoid eye contact everytime the older man tries to slow down and converse with the boy. His heart aches and he grits his teeth to stop him from sparing a look at the older’s more than likely sad features.

They enter the room and start heading towards the chairs that are lined up on the stage. Jimin panics noticing he’s about to have to sit with Yoongi so he falls back in line and switches spots with Hoseok ending up between him and Namjoon. The leader gives the young boy a knowing look and Jimin does his best to hide his blush and focus on the back of Hoseok’s head.

Like usual many fans end up asking Jimin questions regarding the other members and it could be his paranoia talking but he thinks that Yoongi’s name is brought up the most. One fan even asks why Jimin switched places with Hoseok when they were walking in and why he didn’t want to sit next to Yoongi. He forms a quick lie in his head saying Hoseok had requested to sit next to Yoongi and then immediately feels bad for starting a rumor.

..
Jimin continues to ignore his hyung all the way back to their hotel. He almost makes it back to their room in peace when he is cornered by Yoongi after the rest of the band exit the elevator.

“Jiminie, are we okay? You’ve been ignoring me all day,” the oldest asks causing embarrassment to flood the younger.

“What?” Jimin squeaks drawing out the word. “I’m not ignoring you; is that how it seems?” he asks knowing good well it is. He lets out nervous laughter and starts walking past the older who catches his wrist.

“I just thought you were uncomfortable with us getting a little too close last night,” the older shrugs and Jimin chokes on his spit.

“No absolutely not, it’s fine. I’m fine,” he panics, anxiety lacing his voice. He then pushes by Yoongi who is standing a couple feet in front of him with confusion clear on his face and races down the hall to their room.

When he enters the hotel room he begins to breathe deeply in an attempt to calm himself but all he really wants to do is scream and throw stuff around. Although he doesn’t because he knows trashing the room will not solve his problem. A weight is lifted off his shoulders when the older doesn’t enter the room after him and he figures he’s probably in someone else’s room. He feels relieved but slightly heartbroken at the real possibility that Yoongi thinks he’s mad at him.

A couple seconds pass and Jimin’s panic session is interrupted by a knock on the door, he doesn’t figure it’s Yoongi because he would just use his key to get into the room. He slowly drags himself to the door and cracks it open; his suspicion stands correct because Taehyung and Jungkook are standing in the hall waiting to be let in. He opens the door more and moves out of the way so they can join him inside the room. He peaks his head out into the hallway to make sure no one else is around before closing the door behind the other two men.

The two boys stare at him with anticipation, “how are you doing?” Taehyung asks with sympathy dripping from his voice and Jimin has the urge to throw himself on the bed.

“Not good at all, Tae. I thought it’d be easier to ignore Yoongi hyung after everything but it only made things worse because he noticed my efforts and called me out,” the boy pouts and stamps his foot on the ground like a two year old who has just been punished.

The other boys remain quiet and frozen in their spots so Jimin takes it as his cue to continue his tangent, “I was too busy worrying about making sure he didn’t find out I liked him that I didn’t even notice him starting to hate me.”

“I don’t think hyung could ever hate you,” Jungkook assures, his eyes not meeting Jimin’s but focusing on the wall behind the boy.

“I should have known the second Namjoon hyung asked me to room with Yoongi hyung that I couldn’t handle it.”

“Jimin-“ Taehyung tries to interrupt but the boy has already started talking again.

“I just can’t control myself around him. It’s like my brain suddenly disconnects from the rest of my body and I panic. He must notice that I act weird around him now, but he’s too nice to say something.”

“Hyung,” Jungkook speaks but the older continues to ignore.

“My feelings are too strong now. I’ve got to shake it off. My heart just soars when I see him.”

Taehyung clears his voice loudly causing Jimin to pause his rant, “oh hi Yoongi hyung” he mutters.

“Very funny Tae-“

“Jungkook, Taehyung, do you think you could give us some time to chat alone?” Yoongi’s familiar voice rings in Jimin’s ears and his entire body shuts off. Oh God, how much did he hear.

Taehyung and Jungkook quickly scatter out of the room leaving Jimin and Yoongi alone and wrapped in silence. Jimin remains back turned to Yoongi, he doesn’t know how he’s ever going to be able to face the older after unintentionally confessing to him.

“Jimin can you turn around?” Yoongi asks, his voice remaining calm. Jimin nods slightly at the boy and slowly turns around to face him. “So you like me?”

A shiver runs down Jimin’s spine and his brain shifts into overdrive, “what gives you that idea?” he sputters followed by nervous laughter.

“Jimin” Yoongi says once more only this time his voice is much more stern. “I’m being serious, do you like me?” he questions stepping closer to the younger with each word.

All of a sudden, Jimin panics and lifts up his hands to rest them on Yoongi’s chest and to stop him from coming closer. He stops moving but lifts his eyes so they lock with Jimin’s. The younger boy’s heart rate picks up and he gets the opportunity to really notice his hyung’s ethereal features.

“Fine. I like you. I like you a lot. I know I shouldn’t have roomed with you and I shouldn’t have cuddled with you, that’s really unfair to you since I like you and I’m sorry,” he blurts, “I really can’t help it, you know? You’re just so talented and pretty and you’re really sweet to me. You’re even cute when you get annoyed with me.”

Yoongi takes a step back from the younger causing his arms to fall back to his side and the older boy laughs, quite loudly. He bends slightly and rests his hand against his side. Jimin’s cheeks heat and this whole situation is going worse than he imagine. “What?” he spits out.

“Are you that clueless?” Yoongi asks in between laughter and Jimin’s face twists into confusion.

“Excuse me?” he asks, his face flushed by his hyung’s roaring laughter.

“I like you,” Yoongi admits, “a lot. Always have, and if anyone should be apologizing it’s me because I threatened Namjoon into letting us room together. I’ve been dropping a lot of hints- or I thought I was.”

Jimin looks up at his hyung and waits for him to say “kidding,” but when he doesn’t a weight is suddenly lifted off the young boy’s shoulders. “So, wait, I like you and you like me back? We like each other?”

Yoongi nods his head, “we like each other.” Jimin tries but is unable to hide his smile, “now it’s been years, Jiminie, can I please kiss you?”

The younger giggles and his cheeks start to heat once more, “yes,” he manages to say and Yoongi steps closer to him until he’s closing the gap. The kiss is gentle and Jimin thinks that his lips were made to kiss Yoongi. He lets his eyes flutter close and grins into the other boy’s lips. When they pull away after what feels like hours but also no time at all, Jimin’s eyes open and when he looks up at his hyung he’s already smiling fondly down at him.

Before they’re given the opportunity to speak, the hotel door is being shoved open and the rest of their band members are flooding into the room.

“Finally,” Jin snorts and the same time Namjoon says “it took you long enough.”

Yoongi scoffs and pulls Jimin in for another soft kiss. Jimin hides his face in his hyung’s shoulder earning groans from their friends before they all file in with various bottles of alcohol and spend the rest of the night celebrating “Yoongi hyung and Jimin finally growing a pair and confessing to each other,” as Taehyung so delicately put it.
