Work Text:

Two men sit facing each other in perfect symmetry in the middle of a room. Five feet apart, they are seated on the floor with their legs crossed like well-behaved schoolboys. The first man, his hair slicked back but with a few hairs slightly out of place, as if he started the evening well-kempt but slowly as the night bore on, he let himself go. The other man, fair headed and with a sharp eye, is fixated on his partner. They are a both wearing tuxedos, but with the bow ties undone and draped around their collars.

The first man, with a wide grin on his face, raises a gun to his temple. He begins to giggle. The other man smirks, but does not break eye contact.

“Shall I do it?” whispers Moriarty.

Sebastian waits a beat, and then nods. Jim pulls the trigger of the gun. The sniper’s eyes blink a fraction faster than usual. The chamber is empty. Moriarty sticks his tongue out, as a crazed grin creeps onto his features.

“Your turn, Sebastian,” he hands the gun over. The blond says nothing, but grips the revolver, and without warning cocks it and turns the shaft towards his chin. He pulls the trigger. Nothing.

Moriarty jumps a little in excitement. “Oh oh oh, thank God you never blow that quick in the bedroom,” he gives him a teasing smile as the corner of his mouth quirks up.

Sebastian smirks, but never indulges in his boss’ innuendos or crude talk. He hands the gun back without a word and bites his lip maybe from adrenaline, but it might as well be arousal. Moriarty cocks the pistol, raising it to his tongue. He licks the tip and winks at Sebastian. He releases the trigger. Nothing.

“Awwww,” Moriarty half-mockingly sighs, “that usually works”.

With puppy dog eyes he hands the gun back. Sebastian repeats the procedure, and this time raises the gun to his temple.

“You’re sick you know that?”

He pulls the trigger.

“You love it!” Moriarty growls with delight. “Only a few chambers left and one bullet, this could be farewell…”

Sebastian cocks the gun and points it at Moriarty’s forehead.

“You know I never miss.”

Moriarty smiles his adder's smile. “And that’s why you're my favourite pet! Do it!”

Sebastian fires, but again, an empty click. He lowers the weapon.

“Two Chambers, one round.”

“You know I leave nothing to chance,” Moriarty mutters as he takes a grip of the gun. “I’ve had a nice evening, but playtime is over Sebastian. Daddy’s getting tired,” Moriarty says with a small yawn and lifts his arm, lining the gun up right in between Sebastian’s eyes.

Sebastian does not move, his eyes firmly fixated on Moriarty and not the gun. He just gives him a devilish grin.

A few seconds pass.

Moriarty pulls the trigger.
