The Warmth of An Icy Embrace

Summary:

Villains get a hold of Izuku Midoriya one winter day. His classmates, led by Shouto Todoroki set forth on a mission to find and rescue him. Up against uncertainties of where to even search in the midst of a harsh cold weather, would they make it before it's too late?

Notes:

Hey there everyone!

This fic is very special to me because it is a lot of firsts. It's my first BNHA fic after being so emotionally invested on it since I've watched the anime (I'm slowly, slowly reading and i hope to catch up one day with the manga). This is also my first fic to actually publish here in my shiny and new AO3 account (or any account for that matter). I am a barely-abled writer who has stowed away the quill for far too long because of too many reasons and excuses. my attempts to write would often start with a concept in my head that i myself criticize too harshly to the point that it meets its end before i even get to actually write or type it down. the struggle has dragged on for a long time until I recently met this friend who has taught me a thing or two about the creative process simply by letting me be a part of her world as a brilliant writer. Oh i can't wait for her to spread her wings fully and fly high!

i am actually posting this un-beta read by her, even if i know she would be so willing to because i wanted to surprise her with what little progress i've made towards embracing and nurturing the potential she says and she believes i have. so here it is, i am sharing with all of you my work-- with all its glaring errors and inconsistencies but especially with all my heart. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did writing it. If you like it, I would be so grateful to hear from you. =)

Chapter Text

Hold on Izuku Midoriya, we’re coming to save you.

Class 2A boards two motor boats together with Pro Heroes for a search and rescue operation. They set off apart to cover as much of the great blue waters surrounding them, determined to find Predator 7, Izuku with two other men and the villains.

The sound of harsh waves crashing against their vessel and the boat’s motor on full throttle are practically the only sounds audible for who knows how long since they began their venture. Nobody could care enough to keep track of time, not when all of them are straining their eyes to find anything that would lead them to what they are looking for.

“Captain, I don’t mean to interfere, but we’ve patrolled the perimeter substantially. Maybe there’s really nothing…”

“You’re right. Truth is, I’ve been contemplating that too, Midnight. Maybe it’s about time we changed course.”

The conversation is cut short when they suddenly hear static noises from a two-way radio. Midnight chokes on the words she was about to say when she holds them down her throat and meets the Captain’s eye with a nervous, tentative glance. The Captain clears his throat and picks up the device, ready to receive a transmission, while the rest of those onboard wait with bated breaths.

“Go ahead, this is Unit One.”

“Unit One, this is Captain Seal. The two men aboard Predator 7 have been found and rescued. Over?”

“Copy that Captain Seal. Great job!”

The students, if only for a second, let loose of their worry for their dear friend. Uraraka manages to untangle the hands she’s been wringing and bring them together to a clap. Sero and Ashido share a high-five. They cheer for the wonderful development they have just been informed about.

Iida earnestly pumps his fist, “Yes! Now we can focus our efforts in finding Midoriya-kun.”

And just like that, their hearts are back in their throats again.
