Christmas gifts

Summary:

Bakugou and Kirishima have been dating for a month, but so far only a select few of their classmates know about that. Kirishima wants to change that! What better time than the Christmas party the class were holding after school!

Meanwhile, Bakugou struggles to find a gift for Kirishima after forgetting to get one.

Notes:

I wanted to write something for Christmas, so of course I start as late as possible.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Black and Orange

Chapter Text

After he’d slowly woken up, Katsuki didn’t want to move. It was cold outside and his bed was very warm. He wasn’t going to get up until he needed to and his alarm hadn’t gone off yet .

Knock knock knock!

“F*** off!”

“Bakugou! It’s me, bro!”

Kirishima. Of course it was.

“...Fine.”

The door swung open and was quickly closed again as the redhead entered the room and almost immediately there was a body on top of Katsuki’s. He could hear the crinkling of paper.

“Good morning!” Kirishima sang, “you’re usually up by now, you okay?”

“Cold.”

“Well, you’ve gotta get up. Got school soon, dude.”

“I know. Like hell I’ll be late!”

Kirishima smiled, “Mhm. Okay but you need to get up like right now.”

Katsuki groaned, “my alarm hasn’t even gone off yet. I’m not gonna be late.” He opened his eyes and turned his head to face the boy on top of him, “you’re heavy.”

“But I’m keeping you warm, right?”

“Shut up and get in here.”

Katsuki felt Kirishima laugh before he heard it. He wanted to shout at him for laughing at him, but it was such a nice sound, how could he? And if he did, Kirishima would probably say he wasn’t laughing at him anyway. Kirishima shifted, sitting up rather than laying flat across Katsuki.

“I wanna cuddle too, but I have something for you first.”

A bit of cold air hit his skin as Kirishima started to pull the blankets away. Katsuki pulled them back, shooting his boyfriend and glare before closing his eyes again.

Kirishima sighed, “come on, Bakugou.” He pulled the blankets off him again, “open this first, then go back to your blanket fort.”

“It’s not a blanket fort, dumba**.” Katsuki sat up and Kirishima shifted again so he was in a comfortable position in Katsuki’s lap, “A blanket fort’s when you use chairs and s***.”

“Can we make a blanket fort sometime?”

“Whatever.”

Kirishima grinned, his pointed teeth on display. He handed Katsuki something wrapped in nice, shiny red wrapping paper tied with a thin black ribbon. It was soft.

“Merry Christmas!”

“You didn’t have to get me anything,” Katsuki grumbled as he began to tear away at the paper.

“Well, I wanted to,” he smiled, his voice quietened as he said the next part, “besides, it’s what couples do, y’know…” he looked away, a slight blush had begun making its way onto his face as he said those words. “Also, me and Ashido spent ages finding something for you! So you have to open it now!” he looked back at Katsuki with another grin.

‘Well, f***.’

Now he felt bad. He had completely forgotten about that and didn’t have a gift to give back. Katsuki was supposed to be the best at everything, damn it! Now he was probably the worst boyfriend ever! How was he supposed to make up for that!

Kirishima must have noticed his distress as he was now staring at him with a look of concern on his face, “Bakugou?” he said softly, “something wrong?”

“It’s nothing,” he grumbled and continued to unwrap his present. He picked up one of the three pieces of clothing inside the paper. A black scarf with orange tassels. He picked up the next item and quickly realised there was a theme here, a pair of black, fingerless gloves with an orange stripe on the end of each ‘finger’. The final item was a black beanie, with the word ‘BOOM’ written across the front in an orange bubble font. He looked back up at his boyfriend, “there’s no way you just found these in a store…”

A store that just happened to be selling winter gear with his favourite colours and motifs relating to his Quirk? They all shared the same hue of orange! No way these weren’t custom made...

“I did! As cool as it would’ve been to get you something personalised, I just didn’t have the time, so I was really lucky to find these in a set. You like them? I know it’s not gonna be winter for too much longer, but there’s always next year!”

“Hm. Yeah, I like them,” he mumbled, trying on the gloves, “thanks...” he added as an afterthought. He removed the gloves and set the presents and their wrapping paper aside.

Kirishima leaned in closer, “can I get a thank you kiss?”

Katsukie rolled his eyes but complied, giving him a quick kiss. “Can I go back to bed now?” he asked as he pulled away.

“Yup!” Kirishima shuffled off of him and under the blankets next to him, snuggling in close. He fell asleep after a few minutes.

Katsuki checked the time on his phone before lying down. They had an hour to sleep before they had to start getting ready.

Katsuki didn’t fall back asleep. He had to give Kirishima something before the day ends, best start thinking of what to do now.
