Work Text:

It had gotten to the point where almost all the regulars at Seidou knew there was something going on between Kuramochi and Ryosuke, that they were more than just 'partners', even if they hadn't said anything themselves. It's not like the two were outright lovey-dovey. No, that just wasn't how they were. But, if someone watched them for just a little bit they could tell. It was the way the two smiled at each other or how their eyes would linger on the other just a little too long.

Ryosuke wasn't a particularly affectionate person to begin with, but the third years noted that his face was significantly softer around the younger shortstop. Kuramochi's affections were more obvious. Everyone knew he admired the older boy, but it was those who knew him well that saw not just admiration but also adoration in his eyes. But even though everyone knew the two were head over heels for each other, they had figured those two hadn't done anything about it and were still dancing around their feelings. Miyuki knew though, that they were completely wrong.

It had been just a normal evening after practice and Furuya didn't think anything about it when Jun ordered him to get him a drink. He was walking in silence to the vending machines when he noticed two figures standing in the corner, tucked out of the way of most people's line of sight. As he got closer, Furuya spotted the notable pink hair of one Kominato Ryosuke; the other figure, he deduced, was Kuramochi. What they were doing he wasn't sure, but they were awfully close. So close that Kuramochi was leaning down and his hands were…. Oh. That's what they were doing. Furuya turned around and bolted back to his room, hoping they didn't notice him.

When he got back to his room, he closed the door quickly and quietly hoping to avoid his senpai and have to explain why he in fact did not have his drink. That didn't happen.

"Oi, Furuya! Where's my Fanta!" Jun bellowed from his bed where he was lying and reading a magazine. Furuya panicked.

"About that…" Jun sat up in his bed and glowered at him.

"Ha?! Did ya get it or not?" he demanded. Furuya hastily straightened and bowed towards him.

"I'm sorry, but Kuramochi-senpai and Ryosuke-senpai were there and I didn't want to disturb them," he stood up quickly and waited in silence. Jun just looked confused.

"Disturb them? What the hell were they doing?"

"Well, um…they were being…intimate,"

"HAAA?" Jun almost fell off his bed. His face was bright red as he gaped at Furuya. "In-in-intimate? L-like you know…." His sentence trailed off there.

"Kissing?" Furuya suggested.

"R-right," Jun corrected himself, coughing to hide his embarrassment. "Just kissing?" Furuya tilted his head slightly.

"I'm assuming. That's all they were doing when I left." Jun looked suspicious but let Furuya off with that, saying that he'd better get two drinks tomorrow night. As Furuya lay in bed he wondered when exactly those two had formed that sort of relationship.

The next morning, Furuya was eating breakfast with Miyuki, explaining his encounter with the two midfielders the night before.

"Hmm, so you caught them kissing?" Miyuki mused.

"You don't seem very surprised." Furuya came to him this morning thinking he knew something. After all, Miyuki always seemed to know more than he let on.

"Well it's not like nobody saw this coming," he retorted, stuffing more rice into his mouth. Furuya nodded silently.

"Do you have any idea how they got together?"

"Why would you assume I know," Miyuki glared at him. "And on top of that, why are you even curious about them anyway?" Furuya remained silent. "What? Thought you'd use them as an example to get together with someone?" More silence. "Wha? Seriously? Who?" Miyuki set his chopsticks down and leaned closer to Furuya, elbowing his side in an attempt to get more information out of him.

"I don't want to say," Furuya responded, "but I am just curious." He had a small blush on his cheeks. Miyuki sighed. Well, might as well just give the kid a break.

"They got together last year. I'm not sure how exactly, Kuramochi didn't give me the details, just that Ryo-san initiated it," Miyuki revealed. Furuya just stared at him, not sure what to do with that information. Miyuki just sighed again. "You know, I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told Kuramochi last year. If you like this person, you need to be upfront with them about your feelings; it's always better in the end." Furuya gave him an awestruck look.

"You can be dependable if you try, Miyuki-senpai," he said. Miyuki was visibly annoyed.

"The worst part is you look like you genuinely mean that," he retorted, shoving Furuya's side lightly. "Just, don't act weird around them, okay?" Furuya just nodded and went back to his breakfast.

While they ate Miyuki noted that Jun seemed to looking over in Ryosuke and Kuramochi's direction more often than usual, even staring sometimes. So, Furuya told him then. Miyuki knew that he was going to have to mentally prepare for the whirlwind that was Isashiki Jun.

So those two finally got together, huh? Jun thought as he glanced at the two nicknamed "Seidou's Iron Wall Defense" while they chatted casually and munched on their breakfast. He silently wondered when they had gotten together and how far they've gone with each other. Just thinking about that set his face on fire. Well, they weren't gonna do anything fishy under his watch! They don't need to be doing that kind of stuff anyway! They only need to focus on the team and getting to Nationals! There wasn't time for it anyhow! Jun stomped off, causing a few confused glances to be sent his way.

Later that night, at their usual gathering in Miyuki's room, Jun noted that there was an obvious lack of Kuramochi. Normally, Jun wouldn't take any notice of Kuramochi's absence; it's not like he hung out with them every night. However, now that he knew about his and Ryo's special relationship he was suspicious of what Kuramochi's alternative activities were. It wasn't until Sawamura showed up, though, that he vocally questioned the shortstops location.

"Kuramochi-senpai? He said he was going over to Harucchi's older brother's room!" Sawamura answered cheerfully.

"Older bro-?" Tch, not even trying to hide it, those bastards. "Did he say why?" Jun pressed further. Sawamura made a face that usually meant he was trying too hard to think.

"No, I don't think so, but he did say not to bother him so it must be important," Sawamura looked pleased with himself, but Jun was livid. What did those two idiots think they were doing? He stormed out the room leaving his confused teammates behind him.

"Oh dear," Miyuki muttered, "better go after him and stop him from doing anything stupid." He turned to look at Furuya, who was already standing up. Well, it was good to have a little backup.

They caught up to him rather quickly. He was still fuming, but whether it was anger or embarrassment Miyuki didn't know. Nevertheless, he called out to him, but only got a glare in response.

"Jun-san, you should really calm down. I don't think they're doing anything obscene." Miyuki really wasn't good at this kind of thing. He looked to Furuya for help, but the pitcher remained silent. So much for backup.

"You! How long have you known about this?" Jun shouted at him.

"Since the beginning," he replied calmly. No use lying now. Jun growled for moment before turning and marching the last few meters before reaching Ryo's room. He grabbed the door handle and slammed the door open.

"You two are having sex!" he screamed. They were, in fact, not. Sitting on Ryo's bed, fully clothed, were Ryo and a previously asleep Kuramochi. Jun's outburst had startled him from his sleeping position at Ryo's side and now he was sitting up, wide-eyed and confused. Ryo, however, remained in his sitting position, holding the magazine he had been reading until a moment ago. He merely glared at Jun in a silent rage.

"As you can clearly see, Jun, we are not. And would you be so kind as to tell me why you thought we were, and why you thought that was a good reason to barge into my room unannounced?" Jun looked positively mortified.

"B-but you- you two were- Furuya saw you two kissing!" Ryo did look a little surprised at that. The same could not be said for Kuramochi, though, who was taken completely off guard and as red as a tomato.

"That's still not a good enough excuse," Ryo said as he cross his arms over his chest. To be honest, Miyuki and Furuya were terrified for their lives being between the two scariest senpai at Seidou. Kuramochi however seemed lost in his sense of embarrassment about being caught.

"You two shouldn't be doing indecent things in a dorm like this! Besides, your athletes! What if you, you know, got hurt or something." Miyuki wasn't sure what it looked like when Ryo rolled his eyes, but how the boy responded was probably as close as it gets.

"I'm pretty sure that we already confirmed that we were not doing anything indecent, and, furthermore, Jun, you need to stop acting like our mother," Jun stiffened, his jaw hanging open.

"Wha? Mother? I don't act like your mother! Right?" he turned to Furuya, who merely looked away, then to Miyuki, who simply gave him a look that said 'are you really asking this?'. Ryo slowly began to get up off his bed, pausing to ruffle Kuramochi's hair, who only just then seemed to come back to his senses. Once he was on his feet, he sauntered over to Jun, in his usual manner with his hands placed neatly behind his back.

"Relax, Jun," he spoke with no sharpness in his voice, "we're not stupid enough to do anything that would strain our bodies too much. But," the sharpness returned to his voice, "don't get mad at me when the thought of us doing it gets stuck in your head. That's your problem," he kept getting closer to Jun until he was practically pushing him out of the room, which Miyuki assumed was exactly what he was doing. "Now, if you'll excuse me," he said, stopping in front of them, with Jun placed effectively outside the room, "I believe I was in the middle of something with my partner." He said the word partner with a mix of teasing and suggestiveness that made even Miyuki blush. With that, he closed the door tight in front of them and they heard the clear click of the lock of the door.

"Maybe we shouldn't bother them anymore," Miyuki suggested. Jun ignored him and started marching off back to his room mumbling something along the lines of 'this is the thanks I get for worrying about them?'. Miyuki let out a loud sigh. This had been a long day.

"Why was Jun-senpai so angry?" Miyuki jumped a little. He'd almost forgotten Furuya was there too.

"Who knows; it's Jun after all. Maybe he is worried about their condition or maybe he's just embarrassed that something like that could be going on under his nose. Or maybe he's just mad that they're doing something like that when he's putting all his time into baseball. Although, if that's what it is I'm sure he'll come to his senses soon enough and remember how dedicated Ryo-san and Kuramochi are to baseball." Furuya stayed quiet during all of that and Miyuki wasn't actually sure he understood what was going on. They walked in silence back to his room and it was in front of his door that Furuya spoke again.

"You said that you told Kuramochi-senpai to be upfront about his feelings, right?"

"That's right."

"But you also said that Ryo-san made the first move, didn't you? Doesn't that mean he didn't listen to your advice," Miyuki felt a twinge of annoyance.

"That's true, I suppose." Furuya nodded then looked away from him.

"I think I'm gonna ignore your advice, too, for a while at least," he said quietly. Miyuki was a little surprised to be honest, considering Furuya had been the one seeking advice in the first place.

"Oh? Why is that?" Furuya gave him a soft smile that Miyuki had never seen before. It was kind of charming.

"I'm going to wait and get to know this person better. I don't want to rush into things when probably neither of us are sure about our feelings. I'm going to make them fall in love with me little by little," the aura around him said he was serious. Miyuki couldn't help but laugh. This guy was serious no matter what the situation.

"I look forward to seeing that, Monster-kun," he said. He patted Furuya's shoulder and turned to go inside, pretending not to notice the shocked, and slightly flustered, look on Furuya's face.

Back in Ryo's room, the second baseman took a long, deep breath before facing his so called partner. He smiled at him before chuckling a little.

"Looks like the cat's out of the bag, huh?" he said to the younger boy who let out a single laugh in response.

"That's an understatement," Kuramochi gave him a toothy grin and preceded to scoot closer to the edge of the bed. "Now, we were in the middle of something, as you said, right?" he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at Ryo, who only shook his head.

"Weren't you asleep until a moment a go," the corner of his mouth twitched upward despite his tone.

"That’s not fair, Ryo-san! You said you wanted to finish your magazine and I was really tired after practice!"

"Tch, we're all tired, idiot," even though he said that he was still moving back on the bed, and almost into Kuramochi's lap by this point. He threw his arms around the other boy's neck and leaned in close. "But, you did do well today, so I guess I should reward you." Kuramochi made a small noise of triumph before Ryo closed the space between them. Kuramochi's hands traveled up his back, feeling his skin beneath his t-shirt, while Ryo's hands moved to tangle themselves in the other's hair. This was good, Ryo thought. What they had was good. They knew their boundaries and trusted each other. They were partners after all. So what if Jun and a couple others knew. They wouldn't tell anyone, especially not Coach, and ruin this for them. No, Ryo would make sure of that.

Notes:

I want to write another story about how they got together but I have no idea when that'll happen
