Chapter 1: Debut

Chapter Text

Toshinori knew that getting to his goal would be more difficult for him than other people because he was born quirkless and yet it didn’t stop him from trying. He went to U.A. High School in general studies and by the time he graduated there was no hero agency that offered him a job let alone one that interested him enough. His goal in life couldn’t easily be classified like the other students and when he did tell it to some of his classmates they could only tell him that it was villain talk. There was nothing wrong with being in the gray area between hero and villain in his mind because crime wasn’t decreasing with the growth in heroes. He came to the conclusion that if people that caused trouble or wanted to cause trouble had a real reason to be afraid the crime rate would go down. Of course, that meant everyone, heroes, civilians, aspiring villains and villains already would need to be in fear to make sure society changes for the good of everyone. That’s why even without a quirk he would use his ridiculous height, charisma, what strength he had and the dedication to his goal to make people fear him.

When he came across a criminal or even a group of criminals trying to rob a store or just create civil unrest he would do what he could to stop them. Even with all the heroes sometimes the lower thugs got away so he would try to take care of it himself. Most of the time he did defeat them but he didn’t come out uninjured. He was fighting against people who had quirks and without knowing what they were made for a difficult fight. His win against the criminals made them more angry than afraid of him because he didn’t look like he should be able to beat them especially when he can do it without a quirk. Toshinori was naturally tall and lanky so with the little bit of working out he managed to do while going after criminals filled out his form to help give him the upper hand if he was able to surprise them well enough.

There was a small group villains that had hit a few stores and injured several innocent people that Toshinori was currently tracking. Toshinori found out that they were planning on attacking at a park not too far from the last store that they robbed. He had no idea why they would attack a park when there was nothing that could really benefit them. It didn’t matter though and he made sure to be at the park before they showed up to find a good place to jump them. As soon as he began to walk down a path that was less traveled, two of the villains from the group stepped in front of him and then he heard two other people step up behind him. He only assumed since he didn’t want to take his eyes off the ones in front of him that they were the other two from the group. Toshinori didn’t like how they knew he was going to be here and his element of surprise was taken away so his chances of being able to defeat four people with quirks lessened with each passing second but he was going to give it one hell of a try. He smiled widely at them and held out his arms. “I’m guessing that you figured out why I’m here.”

“Yeah, we know you’re the one who’s been asking about us and fighting other villains in the area. You must be some kind of stupid to be picking a fight with us when you don’t have a quirk.” pointed out one of the men letting his quirk activate so his muscles grew bigger. The other villain had a body mutation quirk that made his body look like stone so he was obviously another hand to hand combat opponent.

Toshinori just shook his head at that and took a stance as he held his fists up. “I’m not the stupid assholes who think they can win because it’s four against one.”

One of the villains from behind quickly moved to swipe Toshinori’s legs out from under him and he moved fast enough that Toshinori could barely get out of the way. He nearly lost his balance before rock head came at him with a right hook. He ducked slightly to grab his arm, throw his elbow into his chest and then flip him over his head onto the ground. Muscle guy came in next and threw a couple quick punches toward Toshinori’s stomach and thankfully he wasn’t as quick as the speedy villain and did his best to keep dodging and moving. He finally threw his first punch and it connected with his jaw disorienting muscle guy and he punched him again in the stomach. Toshinori was glad the man didn’t bulk his muscles up there as he doubled over and he punched him in the face again before speedy was on top of him. He couldn’t avoid the punch in the side or the kick to his knee and grit his teeth together as he managed to counter with his own punch into Speedy’s side. Toshinori moved away to get some distance and recover from the few attacks that managed to connect before he saw the fourth villain. He had yet to move from his spot and was standing on, watching the fight. He had no idea why he wasn’t helping them and why he was wearing a suit. The other three villains looked like thugs you would come across on the street but the fourth kept up his appearance and his face was calm, interested in the fight.

Speedy and Rock head both quickly came at Toshinori again and he did everything he could to dodge and counter when it was possible. There was even one time he moved just right that Rock head hit Speedy instead and flattened him out. He smirked widely at that, “Too easy.”

Rock head glared and came at him even faster. Toshinori was getting a little worried now not expecting Rock head to be able to move faster and his dodging was getting slower as the fight continued to go on. He hoped for quick fights but with a group it was never quick and without the surprise it wasn’t looking good for him. Rock head eventually got a good hit on Toshinori’s jaw that sent him straight to the ground. It was a miracle his jaw didn’t break and Rock head kicked him in the side keeping him from getting up as quickly as he would have liked. “Not so tough now are ya?” smirked Rock head.

Toshinori didn’t care if things were not working out for him and he turned his head, blue eyes bright as he grinned with more confidence than a man outnumbered should. “I’m not dead yet and as long as I can still fight, I can still win.” he declared and even though Rock head had the advantage he hesitated on attacking Toshinori. Out of every hero that they fought or anyone else who has ever stood up to him, none of them ever looked at him on the ground like this guy. It was a complete surprise and as much as he wanted to kick that grin off his face he couldn’t do it. Toshinori managed to stand up but before his punch could connect the guy in the suit quickly showed up next to Rock head and caught Toshinori's fist.

The man didn’t try to break his hand or attack him, instead he smiled and let go of his hand. The quick movement snapped Rock head out of his thoughts and instead of pushing past or asking what his buddy was doing he backed off. “You are much more different than I ever thought.” he complimented Toshinori.

Toshinori stared at the both of them before noticing the other two moving to stand next to Rock head instead of continuing the fight. He looked back at the man in front of him and realized that he was the true leader out of the group but taking him out wasn’t their main goal? What the hell are these guys up too?

“What is your goal? Why did you pick a fight with us when you don’t even have a quirk?” he asked Toshinori. He had heard someone picking fights with smaller time villains and some of them ended up being part of his group which was a lot bigger than just four people but he was sure this person didn’t know about that yet. It interested him because every person that came back were either annoyed or even some of them were a little afraid to run into him again and he could see why. For someone without a quirk to have confidence of someone who had one and be able to beat anyone who was in his way was formidable. He was sure he had a conviction that kept him going even when the tide of the fight wasn’t in his favor.

Toshinori did want to know what was going on and instead of trusting the idea that they wouldn’t continue the fight he kept his guard up. However, he saw no harm in answering his questions since he was the one who was controlling the other three. “Crime rate hasn’t decreased with all the new heroes working for the city and country. I believe it’s because they don’t have someone to fear. Everyone needs something to fear to keep them from acting out and causing trouble. I will be feared even in my quirkless state.” he explained and his eyes glowed bright again with determination. “That’s why I picked the fight and that’s why I will win.”

The suited man’s smile grew and even though he knew there was no way this person could beat him he almost believed him. He had a lot of charisma and was dedicated to his conviction that was close enough to his ideals that he was sure they could work together. “You would fit perfectly with our group. This world is still in chaos and my goal is to keep order between heroes, villains and people without quirks. Our group is much larger than what you see now in front of you. I can give you a quirk that can help you reach your goal and be feared. Would you join us?” he asked him.

Toshinori listened to everything he had to say and with how he could change the turn of the fight without even speaking did show that he was in control of the people that followed him. He didn’t think the man was lying and he did think more about what he was talking about. If he wanted to keep order between people than he just wanted the same thing he did although they both thought about it a different way. He could see that this man was planning on ruling the world under his hand and at the same time he would be decreasing the crime rate with fear. Fear was a powerful motive for people to listen so it did make sense and this man declares he can give him a quirk. Should he really trust this man that already seems powerful enough by himself that still needs help from him? He needs to figure out more about this guy before he can actually agree because even if he can give him a quirk that will help him truly be feared, what is the quirk? Will he be forced to follow everything he says? But…he did want to reach his goal and he knows he can do it, even if it means accepting some help. “I can see how our goals align with one another but how I can trust you? You’re saying you can do the impossible and give me a quirk without any conditions and I don’t even know who you are.” he pointed out to him figuring if he just put everything out in the open now maybe this man will do the same for him.

The man chuckled a little glad to see that he was being cautious, more cautious than the rest of the people who gladly accepted his help or would do anything to be more powerful. As much as he liked this man’s convictions and his charisma he knew there would be trouble in the future but he was sure that after he got a real taste of the power that he was willing to give him he would realize that it would be better to keep it and continue working alongside him. Even if it didn’t work out he’d just take the power back and find someone else. It’s not like there’s anyone left to tell him the background of this power and what it was truly meant for at first. His goal could be perfectly suited for a hero if he wasn’t so focused on being feared and as long as he wanted to be feared he didn’t see this man going against him any time soon or ever if he was lucky. “The name I go by is All For One, I’m sure that even while you’ve been looking up villains or criminals to go after yourself you came across rumors about me.”

Yagi’s eyes widened a little because he had seen those rumors and was curious as to who could gather that many people under his cause. He didn’t know how effective All For One’s influence was yet since it was rumors after all but seeing the man in front of him and hearing him, he could see how people would follow him. This man could gain more influence with him wanting to instill fear into people and he didn’t know everything he was willing to do to reach it but he wanted to take that chance. After all, if he wanted to stop he would stop, it was his own life and his own goal. Their paths might align for now but sometimes power changed people and he wouldn’t let it change him. “My name is Toshinori, Yagi and I’ll take you up on your offer.”

All For One lead the way back to their base of operation where the person he gave One For All too earlier was still waiting in their room, pretty much brain dead. Thankfully he didn’t need the person fully conscious of what he was doing, he just needed to be the bridge between the two people. That was one thing specific about the quirk that made it different and it was all thanks to his brother’s born quirk. He wouldn’t need to hassle having the recipient before be kept alive if he could take the quirk away, all he could do was force it to be transferred.

Toshinori had been quiet for most of the walk to their hideout and when they got inside the building he finally decided to ask more questions. “What quirk are you going to give me and how does it work?” he asked.

“I had a feeling those questions would come up.” he stated glancing over at Toshinori before looking forward again. “The quirk you will receive is one that can stockpile power, it takes the power from any previous owners and whatever the new owner gives to it to make it stronger. It can be passed on from person to person even without my own quirk which has the ability to take and give quirks whenever I feel like.” he explained enough to satisfy those questions since he wanted Toshinori to trust him. There was still a pretty high chance of him not taking the quirk though since most of the other people he had given One For All too had a quirk before.

“So…it’s a really powerful quirk? It seems kind of crazy to give it to someone like me.” he thought out loud and was pretty sure he didn’t need to ask the question that was on his mind.

All For One nodded a little as they got to the room and he stopped turning to face Toshinori “You were not the first person I entrusted this power too and it’s because you’re different I’m hoping for better results.” he stated and opened up the door to show the man who currently held One For All. The man was sitting in a chair, hunched over and didn’t move a muscle when the door opened or when All For One walked up to him. He put a hand on his shoulder and forced the man to sit up so that Toshinori could see his face was blank and eyes rolled back in his head.

Toshinori hesitated following All For One into the room because this wasn’t what he expected at all. He didn’t know what had happened to the man that was in the chair and he’d really not like to find out. He did mention better results which made him realize that he could end up like this. “It seems like this is a one-way ticket to me.”

“There is a chance that you won’t end up like this but only a chance. I believe that your strong conviction and your goal will help you take on the quirk. I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t believe you could do it.” he lied but he did have more hope for him than the others.

As much as he would have liked to fully believe him there was something keeping him from fully trusting All For One and he was going to hang onto that gut instinct to keep him on guard. For all he knew he might not make it through it but his goal was worth the risk. “I’ll do it.”

Three years later, Aizawa, Shota was sitting down after cleaning up dinner. He had recently been accepted into U.A. High school and would be starting school in a few days. For the past few years there seemed to be a rise in the shadow evil that most of the public refused to recognize but it couldn’t be ignored forever. The news anchors were even bringing it up although nobody had any solid evidence of who was involved or even close to knowing the person who was in charge. Shota saw no reason to bring it up unless there was something new. Just as he reached for the remote the anchor’s voices changed. It was enough to make him hesitate and look back at the screen. “We interrupt our normal broadcast because of a situation developing in Shibuya. There seems to have been a disaster causing several buildings to collapse and surrounding streets filled with debris. The cause of the explosions is still unknown but we are taking you to the scene now.” explained the anchor as they cut to a camera crew that was at the location.

“There seems to be plenty of people injured and no heroes have shown up yet.” began the reporter as the camera man showed the destruction of the buildings and people trying to get out of the debris or finding more people to help.

Laughter could be heard over a bus that had turned over as a tall hulking form soon walked onto the bus. The man that was laughing wore brown jeans, finger less black gloves, a long sleeve black tight fitting shirt, shoulder pads that had three long spikes on each pad and a black and orange gas mask with silver horns and silver spikes along the edge of it. It was amazing that they could hear him laugh through his mask clearly as far back as they were. “Have fear, for I am here!” he loudly yelled out with a wide smile on his face. The bright blue eyes that shone through the glass glowed brighter as he raised a fist. “Detroit, Smash!” All Smite punched downward toward the bus which broke into pieces, sending them flying everywhere and creating an upward gust of wind that knocked back anyone who was still near him.

The reporter held up her arms to try and block the wind and any flying debris that was sent in her direction. When the wind dissipated, her voice wouldn’t work and even the camera man was shaking as he tried to keep it focused on All Smite. Everyone that could be seen in the shot was frozen in place as he stood up straight again and looked directly in the camera. “I will make you all fear the name All Smite.”

Shota’s eyes were wide as he continued to watch All Smite destroy buildings and vehicles with ease. When heroes did start to get on the scene the fights were ended quickly with the debut villain using his overwhelming strength against them. He hadn’t seen someone with this amount of power in a long time and let alone being on the side of the villains. He finally grabbed the remote and turned off the television trying to shake away the image of how All Smite looked. He’s powerful and he’s got a piercing gaze that obviously froze everyone there and even him. Shota had never reacted like that to any other villain that showed on television before. This person, All Smite was going to change things, he could understand that even as a teenager and watching those few minutes of the fight.

The next morning the full report of what had happened made it to the public and everyone knew, even people that didn’t follow the news religiously. Everyone was talking about the new villain but the one thing in particular that caught Shota off guard was the statistics. When it came to good villains or villains causing a lot of trouble, the death to injury ratio was usually a lot higher than what the results of last night came out to be. It seemed like the only people that actually died were too close to debris or in an unlucky spot. There was no rhyme or reason to this man’s attack since nothing was taken only destroyed and to Shota his goal wasn’t about damage or how many he could kill before escaping. Killing people and especially a hero would create a lot of fear but this guy didn’t have to go on a killing spree like other villains. If his analysis was correct he wanted to demonstrate his power and strike fear without being like other villains and he managed it perfectly. The news reporters talked like they had confidence in him being taken down but he could see that they were all in fear. I’m going to have to keep an eye on All Smite, I’m sure he’ll still be around when I make it as a pro.
